Cairn Terrier Association Limit Show  5 July 2015

Thank you to the Office Bearers and Committee of the Cairn Terrier Association for inviting me to judge their Limit Show, to the exhibitors who gave me such a wonderful entry of beautiful quality Cairns, to my two stewards, who made my task of judging so much easier and to those who helped transport me from A to B.  Some decisions were very close and might have been different on another day.  I thoroughly enjoyed my day, making the long journey well worth it.

Veteran Dog/Bitch

1.    Marshall’s Strathgarten Lady Marmalade  well balanced 10 year old wheaten bitch in good coat.  Beautiful head and expression. Good level top line and strong fore- and hind -quarters.   She moved well and had a lovely rapport with her handler.

2.    Byrne’s Little Miss Tonka 7 yr old bitch Broad skull, good stop. Very ‘Cairny expression.  Nice neck and front. Harsh double coat.  Did not move as well as 1.

Minor Puppy Dog

1.Dolan’s Glenrood Spycatcher

Lovely head and expression, dark eye and well defined stop. Good mouth.Nice coat Good spring of rib and level top line.  Handled well. Exuberant and obviously enjoying his day!  Moved well when he settled down. Best Puppy Dog

2   Keeves’ SeveekI Spied That Dream.

Very close decision between I and 2  - just lost out on movement. Beautiful head and expression, lovely level top line, good harsh coat. Very full of beans andnot at all intimidated by the occasion!

Puppy Dog

1.    Mears’ Glenmear McIntyre

9 month old wheaten boy with a  typical Cairn’ expression and beautiful head.  Strong fore and hindquarters, level back.  Good bone.  Happy, exuberant dog – a bit unsettled on the move but obviously having fun!

   Junior Dog

1.    Marshall’s Brenndarcy Lord Marmaduke Avec Strathgarten. 14 month old wheaten dog. Beautiful typical head and expression, good stop. Well balanced. Excellent double coat. Level back, strong fore and hindquarters.  Moved and showed well. Reserve Best Dog.

2.    Thompson’s Castleline Barn Dance. Another 14 month old dog with a lovely head and expression. Good coat, correct front and hindquarters.  Good spring of rib. I liked him a lot – close decision between  1 and 2 but he was more unsettled on the move.

Novice Dog

1.     Wright’s Glenmont Nicodemus Very happy, red 2 year old dog whose tail never stopped wagging! Correct mouth, lovely dark points and nice head. Good harsh coat.  Nice level back. Could have moved better.

Post Graduate Dog

2.    Innett’s Carradine George Flies With Harkinleigh. Another close decision.  Lovely dark brindle dog in excellent coat and condition. Well balanced.  Lovely head and eye, good dentition.Strong shoulders and well muscled hind quarters. Preferred movement of 1 on the day.

Open Dog

1.    Day’s Cherrycrack Ludo at Trekhilli. Beautiful, well balanced dark brindle dog, up to size. Excellent coat and condition.  Moved and showed well. Best Dog and BIS

2.    Waugh’s Tribannon War Dance. Yet another very close decision. Preferred head of 1. Well balanced cream dog with lovely head and particularly fine mouth! Very masculine. Good neck and shoulders. Good harsh double coat, level topline, correct tail set.

Special Beginners Dog or Bitch

1.    Yates and Johnstone’s Pendley Ola. She caught my eye from the moment she came into the ring!  Beautifully balanced grey brindle, showy  puppy with good feminine head and expression.  Very good coat.  Nice fore and hindquarters, good tail set. Very mature for one so young. Obviously enjoying her showing experience. Best Puppy

2.    Harrison and Innett’s Carradine Maisie

1.    Peers’ Tweedisle Guinevere

Showy wheaten bitch in excellent coat. Nice head with good mouth and dentition and deep stop. Well balanced.  Showed well

2.    Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Grey Bratton
