Thompson’s Take Out?

“And it’s High Ho Silver Lining”

(Chris’s failed attempt at a sing along)

Cairn Terrier Associations Members Limited Show 9th July 2017.

My thanks to the club for inviting me to judge their show and the exhibitors for their entries. It was a very hot day and some of the dogs found it a bit hard going. I was pleased to have some quality dogs to go over. Judging is ever the compromise and I found some lovely dogs to examine on the table that disappointed on the move and some that moved far better than you would have expected from their conformation. There were beautiful heads which sadly were not always on the best movers so hard decisions had to be made. As would be expected in an entry of this size it was impossible to get a consistent line up.

VETERAN DOG/BITCH.

1.Bateman and Sach’s Dandi Boy Spud.

Lovely boy who I have done well for before and he came close today for top honours although the heat affected him a bit on the move. Attractive head, good front, straight top line and good tail set. Still holds a great shape on the move although not quite moving with the same enthusiasm as when I last judge him. BV

2.Smith’s Glenmear Sproxton Lass Of Gethlee.

Larger type bitch with attractive head, full, good textured coat. Very free moving and covered the ground well, just not quite holding the top line of the winner.

3. Davies Cloverbrook Harris Tweed.

MINOR PUPPY DOG.

1. Inett and Harrison’s Bailey Bill At Carradine.

Very raw baby, good coat, top line and tail set. Well angulated quarters, moved freely although a bit wide behind and needs to mature all round.

PUPPY DOG.

1. Peers Tweedisle Lively Lad. BPIS

Attractive wheaten youngster, with lovely head and nice large teeth. Good harsh coat.  Creates a lovely outline on the stand. Covered the ground well on the move, maintaining a good top line and tail set. Rear movement very good, just a bit close in front at the moment, but has that definite look of class about him. BPIS

2. Parker-Tuckers Uniquecottage Grey Balm.

Not as forward as above. Carrying a heavy coat, a free moving puppy, although not holding the top line of the winner.

JUNIOR DOG.

1. Days Trekhilli Pepperazzi.

Dark Brindle, tall, rangy dog. Attractive head, good neck leading to strong top line and good tail set. Excellent well presented coat.  Covered the ground really well on the move, powering from strong quarters with real Cairn attitude. Just needs to tighten a bit more in front movement. Although different type pushed the best dog close, just prefer size of best dog.

POST GRADUATE DOG.

1. Thompsons Casteline Barn Dance.

Attractive cream dog with good head  and shown in a good coat. Good top line and tail set which he held on the move. Moved well in profile, excellent front movement but just a bit close behind.

2. Parker-Tuckers Uniquecottage Silver Askin.

Good top line and tail set on this boy. Moved well if a bit unsettled, lots of attitude but just needs to steady to make the most of himself.

3. Peers Tweedisle Tugman.

OPEN DOG.

1. Shannon and Storrs Brenndarcy Tinsoldat.

Very attractive red dog, takes your eye as soon as he enters the ring. Lovely outline, with good top line and tail set. Great head and good harsh coat. Moved very well in profile, really powered off strong quarters, just a bit closer in front. Surely won’t be long before he is not eligible for a limit show. BIS

2. Parker-Tuckers Anjofra Roulette Russe

Different type to winner and probably a bit better in wither height, but didn’t quite move with the attitude of the winner. Good head, correct top line and tail set, good coat. Moves very well in front would just like a bit more drive going away.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG/BITCH.

1. C. Harris Tweed

PUPPY  BITCH.

1. Soper’s Elitecharm Five Of Diamonds.

Very attractive showy girl who takes your eye on first inspection. Attractive head, good neck with good top line and tail set. Moves well in profile holding a good shape. Good rear movement but another that needs to improve in front. Just waiting for a new coat.

2. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Grey Althea.

Full coated bitch with good top line and tail set. Covers the ground on the move but a bit close coming and going.

JUNIOR BITCH.

1. Dolan’s Glenrood Spell Dance.

Smart showy girl, harsh well presented coat. Good movement coming and going, just in profile tending to roach her back so loosing outline at the moment.

2. Peers Tweedisle Bonnie Lass.

Beautiful head on this dark brindle girl with lovely expression. Harsh coat.  Covered the ground on the move but not quite holding the shape I was looking for.

NOVICE BITCH.

1. McGrath and Inett’s Carradine Tinkerbelle For Owenreagh.

Good head, harsh coat, happy show girl. Really covered the ground well on the move holding her top line and good tail set. Moved well in front but very close going away.

2. Dolan’s Glenrood Dance To The Spell.

Another attractive showy girl, litter sister to the winner of last class. Good coat and well presented. Moves with attitude but on the day not the top line and tail set of the winner.

3.Harrison’s Carradine Kizzie.

POST GRADUATE BITCH.

1. Smith’s Cannwood Misty Dawn At Gethlee.

Beautiful head on this girl with lovely expression. Good coat. Moved well, holding a good outline, strong going away but not as good in front movement.

2. Osborn’s Tweslam Gimme Gimme Magic.

Attractive girl with great outline. Not quite the head of the winner, wonderful red coat. Moved well, could have had just a bit more enthusiasm.

3. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Fennel.

OPEN BITCH.

1. Osborn’s  Tweslam Born To Bewitch.

Not flashy in any way but just an all round sound bitch. Good head, good neck leading to good top line and tail set. Sound on the move covering ground well, good moving coming and going. Just feeling the heat at the end of the day against the dog’s enthusiasm.BOS

2. Dolan’s Glenrood Burlesque.

Big rangy girl that is really coming together. Attractive head, good coat creates lovely outline on the stand with good top line and tail set. Moved well although still needs to steady up and hold her shape together.

3. Shannon and Storr’s Brenndarcy Cloudbursting.
