JOINT
CAIRN TERRIER CLUBS
OPEN
SHOW
6 th. July
2013
What
a pleasure to judge this open show of The Joint Cairn Terrier Clubs. If only
there were more like this! An entry of 77 Dogs with very few absentees and
exhibitors coming from all over the Country and some from Scotland with
caravanning exhibitors. I felt that the quality was very good, especially in
the bitch classes where the limit and open classes were deep in quality right
through.
Sportsmanship
was excellent and I felt this was an open show like there used to be – I
wondered whether the fact that here is a breed which places importance on
type, rather than trimming and grooming, played some part in this.
Whilst
really enjoying the classes I have to say that it was not always easy as
there were varying types within the standard – but I was delighted with my
challenge line ups particularly in bitches where there were fine beautiful
bitches in the last cut and I would have been happy with any one of them.
Many
thanks to my stewards and to the Committee for a warm welcome. I hope that
secretary, Lynda Hughes, will soon be back to health.

2.
Waugh’s Tribannon War Dance, 18 months, I liked his proportions and leg

1.
Dolan’s Glenrood Magic Pipit, remarkable at 14 years of age with full, clean

leg length and good on the move. Without much coat today, but scored heavily
in type.

Puppy.
(1).
1.
Mear’s Glenmear Malpeen, 10 months, light brindle with good head proportions.
Good length of leg and movement. She went soundly. Coat needs a little more

All
three bitches full of quality.
1.
Yates and Johnson’s Pendley Hester. Outstanding Bitch of almost 18 months.
Filled the eye for type, proportions and did not disappoint on the move –
full of terrier alertness and spirit. In the last cut in a strong challenge and
should go on to better things.

on the day, but was more co ordinated on the move than third. Ears a touch
large. Sound mover and good topline and correct tail carriage.
