OPEN SHOW.
HOSTED BY THE CAIRN
TERRIER ASSOCIATION SUNDAY 15TH JULY 2018.
Best in Show and Best Dog - Cairngold Chico.
Best Bitch and Reserve Best In Show - Brenndarcy Hunky
Dory Among Doonrae.
Best Puppy in Show - Tom Ticks Incredibly Ilay Of
Uniquecottage.
Best Veteran - Ch.Tweslam Maid By Magic.
It has been an honour to
allow me to go over and give my opinion on all of your lovely dogs whose
temperaments should make you all very proud. Thank you to Joanne
Yates-Johnson my Steward for controlling the ring so professionally.
You will see by my
critique that I put great emphasis on length of neck, shoulders and clean
lines. Forechests are a great concern that we should be concentrating on in
my opinion. Movement today has improved since I last judged our breed, there
is still closeness or knitting as I call it in the rear but fronts have got
better. Lack of face furnishings spoil the head for me but I was pleased to
see that exhibitors are showing in a full and good length of coat. It was a
very warm day so to keep them interested I moved them round the ring to give
them all a fair opportunity to show themselves off.
Veteran D or B -3(1A)
1st–Osborn’s-Ch.Tweslam Maid by Magic, 9yrs old but by no means showing her age.
Excelled in head with a correct stop, correct eye shape and colour well
sprung ribs, held her topline on the move, shown in full coat and an all
round smart girl.
2nd–Smith’s -GlenmearSproxton Lass of
Gethlee, Another 9yr old lady, a little heavier than 1st, lovely strong jaw
and broad skull, good length of back, shown in a good coat, she has attitude
when she is moving around the ring.
Minor Puppy Dog -4(1A)
An exciting class with some very strong contenders
for the breed who could at any time change places, I wish that I had three
red cards today.
1st- Parker-Tucker’s Tom Trick's
Incredibly Ilay of Uniquecottage. 6month w/b, Very smart, stunning masculine
head for a youngster just starting out, good stop, good mouth, broad skull
with neat ears, correct lay back of shoulders, not over exaggerated in any
way, moved well for his handler. BPD & BP in Show.
2nd - Shannon&Storr’s-Cale Hill's Go
Above and Beyond for Brenndarcy. 7month D/B, again a lovely smart puppy, with
a lovely expression, good stop, lovely infill under eyes, used his ears well,
level topline with good tail carriage, a good showman already.
3rd–Bateman’s -Carradine Whisky Mac
Puppy Dog- 1
1st– Harrison’s -Carradine Whisky Oscar,
Stood alone in this class but was a worthy 1st place. Just turned 12 months but
maturing well, strong masculine head with a broad skull and very neat ears,
good shoulders with correct rear angulation to enable him to move with drive,
good width behind, his big boys coat is on its way.
Junior Dog- 2
1st–Firth’s -Cairngold Chico, This young
man ticked a lot of the box's for me today and I could not take my eyes off
him, I would take him home, just out of puppy, a head to die for with strong
jaw and correct bite, strong masculine head, a beautiful flow of neck and
shoulders, my hand just slid down to a level topline, good depth of ribcage
and a "forechest" a really nicely made young man, good width
behind, moved soundly with drive and purpose, shown in full coat but if I had
to add anything to him I would like a little more leg furnishings to make
"teddy bear leg's" he just shone in the ring for me and never put a
foot wrong, I hope that he will go far. Best Dog and Best in Show.
2nd–Keeves’ -SeveekTreasure the Dream,
Another boy just out of puppy, not as strong in head as 1st but still you
would not mistake him for a bitch, good teeth, upright in shoulders, nothing
to hide as his new coat is coming, a little wayward for his handler which
affected his movement, hope this will come with time.
Novice Dog -1
1st - Parker-Tucker’s -Uniquecottage
Grey Balm, Stood alone in this class, a strong male head with a lovely
expression and kind eye's, good stop, would of liked a little more neck, good
topline and tail set, strong hindquarters, not over exaggerated in any way,
shown in full coat.
Post Graduate Dog -2(1A)
1st - Parker-Tucker’s - Uniquecottage Silver Askin, Stood alone
in this class which was a shame, a mature boy with a lovely head, good
shoulder placement, good topline and again from this kennel strong hind
quarters, full coat, showed well when he settled not the easiest to show for
his handler.
Open Dog - 5(1A)
Lovely class of quality as it should be.
1st– Peers’ - Tweedisle Lively Lad and a
very apt name for him. I have seen this dog from the ringside but this is
nothing to compare when you go over him. All male W/B, stunning head, good
flow of neck and shoulders, a good forechest which a lot of dogs lack, strong
ribcage carried himselfreally well and strode out, shows himself to his
advantage, excels in foreaction and good width behind again a lot of our
breed lacks, a really strong contender for Best dog. RES BD.
2nd - Shannon&Storr’s -
Ch.BrenndarcyTinsoldat, Again a dog which we have come up against in the show
ring. an attractive red shown in a well groomed full coat, lovely head and
expression, good shoulders and true front, a little long in body, a correct
topline which he held on the table and when moving would have liked a little
more leg to complete the picture, he gets easily fed up which is hard for the
handler when standing.
3rd– Day’s -TrekhilliPepperazzi.
SB, D OR B. 1
1st -Metcalf-Sault’s - Cannwood Call me
Aggie -Stood alone in this class, attractive wheaten young lady, pretty head
and neat ears and these she used well, level topline, a little longer in the
body than I like to complete the picture standing this could be because she
gets fed up easily and does not show off the best of herself.
MPB,-8(4A)
1st–Shopland’s - Tycadno Penny Black
ForCherrycrack, An obvious feminine made young lady with time to mature as
she is only 7months old. pretty head with a lovely expression, neat ears,
correct length of neck and clean shoulders, good rear movement with good
width behind, showed well naturally.
2nd–Bateman’s - Carradine Mon Mon
Sherry. Litter Sister to 3rd in minor puppy dog, a real baby , nice size for
her age, pretty feminine head with correct stop, lovely shape when settled,
not as confident on the table as some of the others but this will come, moved
confidently around the ring very showy.
3rd– Petts’ - Million Dollar Dreamer among Doonrae:
PB, 4.
1st - Parker-Tucker’s - Uniquecottage
Silver Agnes. A very pretty cream young lady with an attractive head, a very
pleasing expression, nice clean neck and shoulders, moved soundly, another
quality bitch from this kennel.
2nd–Peers’ -Tweedisle Remember Dee.Good
head with a broad skull correct eye colouring and shape, good ear placement,
carrying a little extra weight which deflected her shape and conformation
from a distance, moved well, good width behind and showed well for her
handler, still a baby in many ways and time will help her, she may take a
little longer to mature.
3rd
-Harrison’s - Carradine Winnie
JB, 7(3A)
1st–Day’s -TrekhilliYou got Chills, A
very attractive bitch, lovely expression and eye colouring for this dark
girl, excelled in neck and shoulders, would of liked a little more forechest,
coat just going past it's best at the moment, free flowing movement from the
side, won this class on showmanship which was effortless.
2nd–Thompson’s - Glenrood Love In A Mist,
A striking cream in colour, good on the table and showed off her outline,
correct depth of ribs, neat tight foot pads, a little wayward when moving
around the ring. Not easy to show for her handler soon gets distracted,
3rd– Smedley’s- Seveek April Apricot
NB, 5
1st–Shopland’s - Cherrycrack Fair
Rosamund, A very balanced Bitch with a good outline, pleasing feminine head
with a good stop, neat ears, correct muzzle, good length of neck, sound front
and moved out with drive, new coat coming so nothing to hide, lovely
showgirl.
2nd–Petts’- Doonrae Private Dancer, Well
up to size but still a striking Bitch, balanced when on the table, Good head,
good dentition, correct infill under eyes, enoughlength of neck, kept her
topline on the move, possibly the heat affected her as she struggled at times
to keep interested, no problem when I moved them all round again. These two
could change places another time quite easily.
3rd - Parker-Tucker’s- Uniquecottage
Grey Althena,
P.G.B, 4(1A)
1st– Osborn’s – Tweslam Gimme Gimme
Magic, A well presented attractive Bitch with a very pleasing head, strong
jaw and lovely dentition, good neck and shoulders, good bend of stifle, very
true mover both ways, shown in full coat and put down to perfection, super
show girl and well intune with her handler.
2nd– Firth’s - Cairngold Carolina,
Pretty feminine bitch with captivating expression, broad skull, neat ears,
good length of neck, good topline on the table and on the move, strong well
muscled loins, showed well.
3rd - Clayton’s - Carradine Here Comes
Dolly.
O.B 9(6)
1st – Petts’ - Brenndarcy Hunky Dory
AmongDoonrae. An absolutely stunning bitch with the most attractive head,
correct stop and eyes and expression to die for, good length of neck and
super shoulders that just flowed into her topline which never faltered, bend
of stifle was the best on the day and her movement was so true, a super
showgirl when moving round the ring. She just lacked sparkle in the challenge
at the end of a very warm day, Best Bitch in Show.
2nd -
Osborn’s - Tweslam Born To Bewitch, Lovely quality feminine wheaten
bitch, good head, well furnished, would of liked a little more neck but
sufficient to give a good outline on the move, , good hind quarters and
correct tail set, good on the move,
3rd – Smith’s - Cannwood Misty Dawn at
Gethlee.
