Midland Cairn Terrier Cairn Day 2018

A Great Day Out For Cairn Terriers & Their Loyal Owners

Cairn Day 2018 was, as usual, well attended, with lots of regulars as well as newbies. The club had plenty of goodies on offer, including prizes for everyone taking part and the main winners.

Christmas cards and calendars were on sale from the CTRF with Chris Roberts & Jane Metcalfe-Sault busy all day. Pat Clarke & Julie Petts were on hand as usual with trimming help and advice. Also this year we had Diane Hartopp and her Cairn Dotty (Members of the Cairn Crufts Obreedience team) who gave an introduction to GCDS and  obedience. Hopefully she will be back next year with Clicker training.

The morning Fun Classes began with Musical Mats & Sausage catching both were noisy and boisterous as ever.

There was the usual final “stand-off” in the sausage catching - finally  declared a tie!.

After a Buffet Lunch we held the Baby Puppy walk for 4-6months and a Puppy class for 6-12months. Our Guest judge was Pihla Haukatsalo-Irving. She patiently went over the babies, some behaved better than others but overall they were very good.

The final two still looking for sausages!

Pihla’s  Puppy Walk  winner was Alison’s  Pepper and winner of the puppy class was Marrietta’s young girl Aisa

The afternoon Cairn Day Classes were Judged by me - Brenda Shannon.

This was the hardest Judging appointment I have ever had to undertake, but with the help of my trusty Steward Daphne everything went well. I chose a class winner and a runner up, but  oh dear… how on earth can you choose handsomest boy, Best Head  etc from all these gorgeous Cairns! I must say their owners take defeat a lot better than some show folks, but I think a delicious doggy treat for all participants in every class does help.(note to self for next time I judge!)

Just look at all those gorgeous heads!

Best head - Dream

Best Rescue –

Theo - Ash

Best Condition –

Brandii & Millie

Best Oldie –

Jamie - Ollie

Best Fancy Dress

Archie - Pepper

Waggiest Tail-

Jose - Bronty

Handsomest Dog –

Harry - Kenzie

Prettiest Bitch

Talulah - Brandii

Best odd one out- Ruby

From my final line up I chose Tim’s Ollie as my BIS!
