Mrs Somerfield awards the An Airidh Sash to Mrs Jennings’ bitch Doonrae Yorkshire Girl

The venue was Kimberley Recreation Centre, Nr Nottingham. Mr John Dixon (Woodthorpe) and Mr Alf Arrowsmith (Thimswarra) were the stewards.

Mr Alf Jennings (Doonrae) dressed as Father Christmas and handed out free coffee and mince pies to all exhibitors (a tradition which continues to this day).

At lunchtime exhibitors celebrated the first championship show with a glass of sherry provided by the Club. A table cloth embroidered by Betty Swift (Robetsu) and Gwen Jones(Cairngold) was raffled the winner was the late Mrs Marion Payne (Quartache).

The special club tablecloth, which is still used today, was embroidered and donated by the late Mrs Margaret Stevenson (Markenreg)

Mrs Somerfield awarded Best in Show to Mrs S Ogle’s Ch Pinetop Priscilla, and Best Opposite Sex to Mr Walter Craig’s Ch Red Hackle of Fernigair. Best Puppy in Show was Miss S Hitchcott’s Carryshader Kamehameha.
