Tears of Joy from proud Mum

Photographs by Alan Firth

The Cairn Terrier Association held a ch show at Nantwich which was a new venue for us. The show had drawn a very good entry. Thanks for the excellent entry & also last, but not least, to the Cairns, as they are the show.

At the moment the strength of the breed is in the bitches, there are many very high quality Cairn bitches. Where are the dogs? We have some lovely dogs but more good young dogs are needed to balance the ratio.

Movement is slightly better but eyes are not, I found some very round shaped eyes, some too large, this is wrong in a Cairn. Coats are another bone of contention, some kept too short with over trimming, a good correct coat is part of the glory of the Cairn.

BIS was Oudenarde Buffy's Angel; BOS, Carinwood Augurey; & BP, Birselaw Special Moment.

V (7): 1 Jennings' Doonrae Virtuoso, 7 years dark gr/br, very good head & neck~ nice eye, good big teeth, very good shoulders, moves well. Needs a slight tidy up of legs & feet.

2.Moseley's Ch Spawche Elizabethan Cameo, 8 year old, very dark brindle, good harsh coat in neat order, nice expression, good neck & shoulders, very good front, good movement. Seems to get tired standing understandably.

3. Goud's Davrnar Viking Arrow.

MPD (14,3a): 1 Hogarty's Cadagio As Good As It Gets, silver/gr, well grown, very good puppy,

lovely head, nice eyes, very sound movement, good alert cheeky look, stands well, good firm back, nice tail caried correctly, good hindquarters, very sound movement. Think he was my BP but could not stay to compete as they had to catch the boat.

2 Braybrook's Cloverbrook Ultimate Force, well grown silver/gr, coat about to change, good head, mischievous

outlook, like his length of neck & front legs, firm back, muscled hindquarters, moves well. Needs time to settle. Very promising.

3 Kinton's Woodthorpe The Gambling Man.

PD (5): 1 Shopland's Cherrycrack Fools Gold, 11 months light red, neatly made, smart young puppy Needs to keep growing. Movement good.

2 Leese's Cloverbrook Silver Rebel, light grey coat, nice head, good front, well grown, strongly made, back & hindquarters firm. Needs practice to keep his head up on the walk.

3 Weaver's Keybrough Shot In The Dark at Copseleaze.

JD (6,1): 1 Evans' Birselaw Billy The Kid, well balanced youngster, good head, lovely mischievous expression, moves well but looking for mischief. Handler needs to think his next move & be able to check him, well worth the effort for such a nice dog. Good movement, good showman.

2 Thompson's Castleline Prince Harry, nicely made dark gr/br, good head, nice eye, good neat ears, back level, hindquarters well muscled. Just needs time to fulfill promise. Moves well if interested.

MPB (23,5): 1 Hogarty’s catch Me If You Can, lovely 8 months silver/gr/br puppy, good head, real Cairn expression, nice neck, good front, solid firm back & hindquarters in one so young, happy & alert standing,

movement very good but running & jumping better, this I don't mind.

2 Firth's Caimgold Cranberry, very pretty head, bright & alert eye, happy look, neatly made, nice front. Just needs
