Midland Cairn Terrier Club Championship Show

Saturday 6 December 2003

I thank the exhibitors for their entry and the sporting acceptance of my decisions.  I was concerned by the number of round bulging eyes, they were sometimes weepy.  Temperaments were excellent, the dog’s movement showed well on the new green matting.  This was, of course, the deciding factor in my placings.  I was very satisfied with the quality of both challenge line ups.

Minor Puppy Dog (10,1)

  1. Smith’s Rocasovale Good Luck Charm, grey brindle, good head, correct mouth, level back, topline and tailset, strong rear propulsion, moved with drive fore and aft, excellent coat.
  2. Short’s Glenchess Rough Diamond, light grey brindle, well laid shoulders into good neck, correct head, neat ears, moved with drive, kept his topline.
  3. Newton’s Strathinver Royal Applause, brindle, purposeful, working type, good bone, deep rib, correct head, ears & mouth, walked well.

Puppy Dog (7,3)

  1. Leese’s Cloverbrook Silver Rebel, grey brindle, well balanced, liked his head, ears and mouth.  He had a good front, well laid shoulders, level back and tailset.  Moved so confidently for his handler, showed well.
  2. Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Ultimate Force, grey brindle slightly smaller than litter brother. Super head, ears, mouth, level topline and tailset, moved confidently, showed well.
  3. Fairwaether’s Ock Ross I’m The Boss, nice head, neat ears, correct mouth, good neck, bend of stifle, needs to tighten in front, moved well behind.

Junior Dog (6)

  1. Evans’ Birselaw Billy The Kid of Kopplegill, wheaten, well balanced smart dog, good head, neat ears, correct mouth, wicked expression, nice front and shoulders, super coat, level back and tailset, moved with drive, showy.
  2. Bambridge’s Carradine Master Guy for Luvemal, good head, eye, mouth, ears.  Good front, deep rib, neat tail, level topline on the move, moved well & showed steadily.
  3. Stephinson’s Twohoots Arthur, wheaten in good coat, masculine head, nice ears, mouth & front leading to well laid shoulders, level topline on the move, walked well, showy.

Maiden Dog (4)

  1. Cloverbrook Silver Rebel
  2. Strathinver Royal Applause
  3. Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Chipmunk, wheaten, very full of himself, correct front, strong quarters, level topline on move, good coat.

Novice Dog (1)

  1. Tracey’s Crowneast Landing Light, wheaten brindle, dark points, liked his head, eyes and ears, deep in rib, level topline.  Could do to tighten in front, showy.

Graduate Dog (4,2)

  1. Crosby’s Tolimaura Chace, wheaten, dark mask and points, correct ears, head & mouth.  Good front, well laid shoulders, strong quarters, level topline, moved well in front and behind, good coat.

2.   Gibson’s Glenmear Tempus Fugit, carrying a little too much weight, deep rib, good topline & tailset, moved well, coat needs pruning.

Post Graduate Dog (7)

  1. Mears’ Glenmear Malfoy, wheaten , dark points, coat going but moved so well.  Correct head, teeth & ears, liked his reach of neck and well laid shoulders, showy. Moved well fore & aft.
  2. Browns’ Cloverbrook Talk of The Town, has matured well since I judged him as a puppy.  Grey brindle, good head, deep in rib, strong quarters, covered the ground well, moved soundly, showy.
  3. Sharp’s Doonrae Dragoon, sound grey brindle, neat head & ears, workmanlike, well muscled, not as showy as one, nevertheless he moved well.

Limit Dog (8)

  1. Roberts’ Cannwood Augurey, showy, eye catching masculine wheaten, dark points, well made all round.  Good head, stop.  Excellent teeth, nice front into well laid shoulders, deep rib, bend of stifle, level topline and tailset, moved and showed well.  RCC & RBIS
  2. Weinberger’s Correnie Altissimo, grey brindle in good coat, excellent front and shoulders, neat head, mouth & ears.  Very alert, covered the ground well, showy.

  2. Catto’s Ch Birselaw Blly Fury, sound, masculine wheaten, lovely head & wicked expression, deep stop, like his ears, mouth & teeth, correct front and strong quarters, moved well & kept his topline, another experienced showman.

  2. White’s Kervaig Picador, wheaten/red nine year old in good order and wearing well.  Not quite the reach of neck as one, level back, walked well if a little close behind.
