Critique.
It is almost 2 years since I judged the breed; the strength is still in the bitches. Movement has not improved, many poorly constructed in the front & many with weak hindquarters. The most significant change is the lack of quality heads, muzzles were weak, eyes in some cases were quite round & ears too close, this really spoils the expression. In a number od exhibits their outline was spoilt by having their tails stuck right up – the tail should be of about 45 degrees when standing. Good showmanship does not mean a good cairn! Coats were difficult but they are usually a temporary problem.

1st HOWARD'S LOCKELSH ACE IS HIGH, wh/br; well grown, pleasing
head, eye & expression, good body & coat, moved & showed well.
2nd CASTREY'S CLOVERBROOK ANGUS McLEE OF CASMHOR , gr/br, good eye. A
litlle long in muzzle, rather long in back could carry more body, moved well.
3rd BRATLEY & HOLMES' AMBERHILL ROB ROY

1st O'KANE'S KEYBROUGH JACK DANIELS , nice dark eye, good head,
overall balance good, good turn of stifle, needs a good new coat & more
ring training.
2nd OUGH'S OCEDAR ZEPHYR , red, quite nice in head & expression,
good reach of neck, nice body, lacks furnishings. Moved & showed well.
3rd PEERS' TWEEDISLE THAT SPECIAL MAN

good stop, dark eye, good reach of neck, clean shoulders, balanced body, good
hindquarters, needs more length to belly coat. Moved OK
2nd POILE'S KEDVAIY TROIKA, red, shortish coat of good texture, very
pleasing head & expression, good neck & shoulders, only just over a
year so giving a lot away, sound mover.
3rd WEST'S JUNETTA LUDYROUS

1st HARRISON & FORMOSA'S HYDE CASTLE FLI-FLAC FOR CARRADINE,
red, very nice head for shape, earset good, excellent reach of neck, good
shoulder angulation, nice body & hindquarters, lazy showman. Sound mover
2nd WARD'S VANAJAM HALLOWEN, very nice head & expression, good
neck, a little heavy in shoulder and carrying some excess body. Good balance,
would like a better turn of stifle, coat not A1. Sound mover.
3rd THOMPSON'S CASTLELINE PRINCE HARRY

1st CADOGAN'S DOGAN JAMESY COTTER, dark red/br, really good
expressive head,, good neck & shoulders, could tighten in front action.
Good body& coat, nicely balanced, strong hinquarters, moved & showed
well RCC
2nd WEINBERGER'S CORRENIE ALTISSIMO, r/br, very good head, nice dark
eye, good length of neck, correct shoulders, outline good, sound mover, needs
more oomph.
3rd CONFUE'S ANJOFRA GOLF PAPA LIMA

1st CATTO'S AM CH BIRSELAW SUPER TROOPER, s/br I judged in the US, looks better with a coat, really good cairn head, good body shape & balance, strong hindquarters, excellent mover, showed all out to win CC & BOB;
2nd SHORT'S AM CH TWIGBENT
OLAUREN SMALLER LIGHTER TYPE, PLEASING HEAD & expression, good neck, well
placed shoulders, not sure about his outline. Sound active mover.

1st SMEE'S MALMAY FANCY GOODS, charcoal silver, really nice head,
keen expression, good reach of neck, nice body for balance & condition, in
good coat, not the easiest to show, but moves well, should have a bright
future.
2nd HOWARD'S LOCKELSH ROYAL FLUSH ,really pretty head, good
expression, good head, clean shoulders nice depth of rib, good outline, nice
s/wh coat, moved & showed well.
3rd BRATLEY & HOLMES' AMBERHILL DANCING QUEEN

wheaten very good head, nice stop, good muzzle nice length of neck, correct
shoulder, very good body shape & condition, well balanced, moved &
showed well.
2nd BROWN'S BENCANA ROYAL SOVEREIGN, silver, pleasing head but lacks
furnishings, At the leggy stage, good strong hindquarters, would prefer more
width when moving & needs time to fill out.
3rd HAUKATSALO-IRVING'S CAIRNGOLD CASSIS AT HAUKLANTORPPA

1st DOLAN'S GLENROOD MAGIC SOLITAIRE, silver, nice expressive
head, good reach of neck, clean shoulders, very nice body shape, good turn of
stifle, good showgirl, fluent mover.
2nd RADFORD'S SKIMMERTON SILVER SEQUEL, very nice head but needs to
finish, good neck & shoulders, well balanced body, nice turn of stifle,
moved soundly with drive, showed well.
3rd PARKER-TUCKER'S UNIQUECOTTAGE GLENGETTIE

1st SHOPLAND'S CHERRYCRACK CHASING AIMEE, wh/br lovely moulded head,
feminine expression, good length of neck & shoulder, good depth of body,
good outline& balance, lovely coat texture moved & showed well.
2nd POILE'S KEDVAIY PASCALI , nice feminine head, dark eye, keen
expression, straight front, well angulated shoulders, well balanced showy red
in good coat, active mover.
3rd RADFORD'S SKIMMERTON SILVER TOUCH

1st HARRISON & FORMOSA'S CARRADINE ECHO, r/br, true head &
expression, nicely moulded muzzle, good neck & shoulders, lovely body
shape, well balanced, strong body shape, moves with plenty of drive.
2nd KEEVES' SEVEEK CHASING DREAMS, wheaten, very nice expression.
3rd FIRTH & JONES' CAIRNGOLD CORAL

neck & shoulders, nicely balanced body, outline spoilt by tail being bang
ob top, Very nice coat, sound active mover.
2nd SMEE'S OUDENARDE BELLE AMOUR, silver, very nice head, good
expression, nice head & shoulders,good nice length of body, balanced shape,
good coat, did not move consistently.
3rd CARTER'S TARCRET SILVER STAR

1st DOLAN'S GLENROOD FOREVER BEAUTY, wheaten, very nice head, dark
eye, good earset, lovely feminine shape, nice depth of body, strong
hindquarters, straight front, in tip top condition, moved all out to win.
2nd FIRTH & JONES' CH CAIRNGOLD CHARCOAL, dark brindle, worthy
champion, very nice head, appeared a little heavy in shoulder, but carrying
excess weight. Nicely balanced throughout, strong hind movement, in good coat
and condition.
3rd HOOTON'S PENTICHARM BURNING DESIRE.
