Cairn Terriers  Manchester Ch Sh

Purposely not having judged the breed for a year or three, all of the exhibits were unknown to me. The entry of 73 for a workaday Thursday was indeed flattering. Weather conditions, particularly in the North of the country plainly brought about a small number of absentees. Mouths were good. All had scissor bites, some exhibits might have owned larger teeth. Two or three low placings were affected because of black and small eyes, others being somewhat cow-hocked, lack of front extention and /or rear propulsion, or obvious coat failings. However it was most satisfying from a judging point of view That the junior dog, both puppy winners and eventual CC winners were by the same sire.

PD 8.1ab

I.Firth and Jones’ Caimgold Cosmonaut. Plainly requires more experience. But so typical Good head shape good stop strong jaw, dark hazel eye head still needs more furnishing but the expression was typical, sound forehand nicely boned legs and feet. Promising body. Well let down quarters. moved OK. BPD  2.Thompson’s Castleline Jackard. Good type and size soundly made, nicely bodied Double coated. promising quarters tail on top.

Moved freely, 3, Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Little Tyke

JD 4.

1 . Middlehurst’s Cannwood as if by Magic to Starveren. A little bigger than 2. Lovely head shape and expression. Sound forehand, well placed shoulders, nicely boned legs and feet. Well proportioned body presently needing a touch more spring Muscled loins of proportionate length Well designed quarters. Ensuring that action and movement is proficient. Correct coat texture. Shows a great deal of promise. 2. Chambers &Thomas’ Caimgrove Red Rascal A great deal to like, although a little heavier in make and shape than I. Double coated, moves with a purpose. 3. Peers’. Tweedisle That Special Man.

PGD 7. 1abs

1 . Crosby’s Tolimaura Chace, size, type and soundly made. Blackmasked alert expression. Sound forehand, nicely boned legs and feet, well sprung ribcage, nicely coupled through the loin Shapely quarters that provides the propulsion, A double coat that is neatly tidied up, Moves easily. 2. Tracy’s. Crowneast Leading Light scores in type, size and soundness. Well formed black masked head, well defined stop and eye colour, Good forehand, sufficient body muscular loin finished in substantial quarters that provides drive. Well textured coat, 3.  Fairweather’s. Ock Ross I'm the Boss.

LD. 7 3abs.

I.Evans’. Birslaw Billy The Kid of Kapplegill. Well defined head, strong jaw, defined stop, good eye shape and colour. Pleases in type, attitude, size and double coat. Good forehand legs set well under shoulder. Mature ribcage, muscular loin of ideal length. Well let down quarters moved with freedom and proficiency, 2.Cadogan’s Dogan Jamesy Cotter. Close up, a great deal to like. Good size and type. Scores in make and shape. Strong quarters that might have provided a little more drive when going away but nonetheless moved accurately. ln good coat. 3.Thompson’s Castleline Prince Harry

OD. 7 2abs.

1.Wall’s. CH. Shearwater Cae de Sonhas. Headed a very good class. Typical Sound

and indeed a worthy champion. CC and BOB. 2. Templeton’s. Larchlea If Looks Could Kill. A slightly bigger in size. Presently needs a little more maturity but exudes infinite quality. So much to like they don't come any sounder. His day will surely come ResCC. 3. Braybrook’s CH.Cloverbrook Loaded Dice.

PB 10,3abs.

1. Firth and Jones’. Caimgold Condoleeza. Immediately caught my eye. Reminds me greatly of one of my mentors WNB and his Redletters. Understand her ancestors were. The loveliest of expression. Make and shape, coat and character all plus points. She has one fault?, She is not mine, l could have tucked her under my arm , A very good show girl and an excellent mover. BP,BCC  2. Thompson’s.Castleline Calico. Another charmer of many valuable virtues. Type, sound, size character and a very sound mover.  3.  Waites’. Seveek Country Lover To Svendalens.

J13 5abs

1 . Templeton’s, Larchlea Remember Remember a dark brindle of obvious high quality. Infinite good type, size coat and condition and such a good mover. She was certainly considered for the CC . But my feeling she needs more finish, knowing from experience that one needs await for the quality one. Her time will surely come. So well proportioned Moving so well fore and aft. One that will be remembered. 2. Osborn’s Tweslam Izzy Wizzy Get Busy. A great deal to like about this red, soundly put together. Pleasing expression strong jawline, eye and ear placement. Sturdy body, nice length of loin. Coat in lovely order, Nevertheless given good value for money her action might be a trifle better. 3.  Peers’. Tweedisle Smitten by Gold

PGB, 11. 3abs.

I. Smith. Rocasovale All That Jazz A little bigger than I like, but the whole dog satisfies Good head shape, strong jaw, good stop and indentation A liked her well laid shoulder and sound frontage. Good depth to brisket, muscular loin of sufficient length sound muscular quarters. Moved as one might expect given this anatomy. 2.Weedall. Clairevona Asteranomical. The better size, scores highly in expression, type, overall soundness. Owns an excellent double coat, Moves freely and directly. 3.Braybook. Cloverbrook Cayos

LB. 7.2abs

1. Jeffery’s Sandaig Suilean Dubh. A workmanlike characteristic Cairn. Nothing flash but soundness prevails. Mature, typical in every way very good head shape an expression, sound forehand stands on good feet, balanced, first class quarters. Moves well. Double coated. She deserved her Res CC. 2. Peers’. Tweedisle Chasing Rainbows. Has she ever caught one? Lovely name A very nice sort; of ideal size and type. She moves rather well. Then she is made right. Double coat Shown in good form. However thought her eye somewhat smaller than ideal and rather dark which cost her a place 3. Weedall’s. Clairevona Victorian Ice

 OB.7 2abs

1 . Ward’s. Vanajam Trick or Treat, Headed a class of honest to goodness senior bitches. She edged the class with her slightly better placed shoulder, Lovely head and expression. Good type and size. Mature ribbing powerful loin and muscular quarters. The whole enclosed within a tidy double coat. Accurate mover. 2. Hooton’s. Penticharm Time to Party. Splitting hairs in this class. Enjoyable close competition. At least I enjoyed the challenge. Should always be in the frame.  3. Middlehurst’s. Starveren Chance to Dream……….. perchance.
