A Fine Trophy Display

North Of Ireland Championship Show, 26th February 2005

Thoroughly enjoyed my day. Judging in what must be the most panoramic venue in the UK. He happy friendly atmosphere and super entry was icing on the cake. This augers well for the 25th anniversary next year and I hope more people from the mainland will make the effort to attend, as this small club goes out of it’s way to make everyone feel welcome.

The show was representative of those on the mainland where the depth of quality was in the bitches with some tough decisions having to be made. Movement on the whole was not too bad, although some could have benefited with more drive from the rear. Heads are my concern, light eyes, long muzzles and lack of stop. The debate will continue if the cairn is a Head breed or not, but for me the head is what makes our best little Pal what it is, along with the super temperaments which all dogs at this show possessed.

MPD

  1. Dalzell’s Laganside Super Trooper.

Wheaten Brindle with a lovely head, dark eye and a good mouth. In lovely coat and condition, but will have to grow on. Best Puppy Dog.

JD

  1. Middlehurst’s Cannwood As If By Magic To Starveren.

This young dog certainly catches the eye and is coming together very nicely. R/B with a nice head, to be hypercritical I would like his eye a shade darker. Lovely neck and shoulders, level topline with a good tailset, moves well in front and drives from the rear. Was shown in a good Jacket and his presentation is first class. When fully mature he will always be in the running for top honours. RCC.

  1. Burton’s Minorcas Yours Truly.

Nice type of youngster who moved well and showed all out for his handler. In good coat and condition, nice head, dark eye, good mouth. Not the maturity o ring presence of the class winner, still very raw.

ND

  1. Peers’ Tweedisle That Special Man.

R/B with a nice head and expression moved and shower well. I felt he was a shade fine boned and would have liked a little more allround for a male.

GD

  1. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Chipmunk.

Upstanding wheaten /brindle, nice size. Masculine head with a good mouth, nice neck and shoulders, level topline. Never stopped showing, moved with purpose. With maturity should do well.

  1. Ough’s Ocedar Zephyr.

Red, not the head of 1, was shown in good coat of a good texture, showed all out for his handler and he has a lovely outgoing personality.

PGD

  1. Burton’s Minorcas Yours Truly.
  2. Dean’s Orior Winter Solstice.

Not the head of 1 but moved reasonably well. could have been in better coat, a very happy dog.

LD

  1. Evans’ Birselaw Billy The Kid At Kapplegill.

This dog must be a swine to show; in his class he did everything that was asked of him, on his toes showing all out never put a foot wrong ,then in the challenge became  unsettled which was a pity. He has a lovely head & expression. In  good body condition. Moves with purpose, an all round nice dog that if he can get his act together can trouble the best.

  1. Confue’s Anjofra Bang On The Door.

Attractive red dog with pleasing head and expression. I found him well put together in excellent body with a good coat covering. His free flowing movement is a joy to watch. Pushed 1 hard in this class.

  1. Mears’ Glenmear Malfoy

OD

  1. Hogarty’s Ir Ch. Cadagio As Good As It Gets.

There is no mistaking this youngster is all male. Lovely head and expression, good neck & shoulders, nice spring of rib, level topline tail on top. Moved with drive never put a foot wrong, presented in a rugged coat of good quality, had the edge over the Junior with his extra maturity and finish. CC

  1. Cadogan’s Dogan Jamesy Cotter.

I have been a long time admirer of this dog. He has a lovely head and expression, good stop, mouth OK. Level topline good tailset, moves well behind. In good coat and condition, today couldn’t make his front right and he appeared rather unsettled, never the less he is a dog which you must always give a second look.

  1. Ough’s Ocedor Zephyr

VD/B

  1. Jeffrey’s Sandaig Silent Wings.

Wheaten with lovely head and expression, moved at one with her handler and showed all out, in good coat and lovely condition.

  1. Keenan’s Minorcas I’m No Mug.

Brindle and all male, moved round the ring with real conviction, pleasing head and expression.

  1. Ough’s Ocedor Mist

SBD

    1. Ough’s Ocedor Blue Moon.

Brindle, good head & expression, well muscled showy dog who never let his handler down.

 MPB

  1. Confue’s Anjofra Nine West.

Red baby who moved and showed really well for her age. Nice head, neck and shoulders, level topline with good tailset. Shown in lovely coat and condition. Best Puppy on her steady performance.

  1. Dalzell’s langside Chiquita.

Nice headed Puppy who grew in confidence as the class went on, very much a baby, like her litter brother will have to grow on.

PB

  1. Hodgkin’s Birselaw Superstar Via Russcot.

Dark brindle very much the type I like. Her head is coming along nicely, good neck & shoulders level topline and when settled moved with drive. Was in good body condition. Needs a new coat and some ring training.

  1. Cameron’s Stryveling Georgie Girl.

Lovely headed youngster with good neck & shoulders. Level topline, good tailset, moved freely. I just hope she grows on, shown in lovely coat and in sparkling condition.

  1. Confue’s Anjofra Queen Of Tarts

Res. Hogarty’s Cadagio look Who’s Talking

JB

  1. Catto’s Birselaw It’s My Moment.

Lovely youngster, nice feminine head and expression good stop, nice neck and shoulders, level topline showed really well. New coat of good quality coming through, with maturity should have an excellent future.

  1. Osborn’s Tweslam Izzy Wizzy Get Bizzy.

Different type to 1 but another quality bitch who can move. Red in lovely coat and condition who looked a picture standing.

  1. Peers’ Tweedisle Smitten By Gold

Res. Forbes’ Bonny Katie

VHC. Ough’s Ocedor Willow The Wisp

MB

  1. Mackey’s Minorcas I’m Sweet.

It’s a pity this bitch was way over weight and not in the best of condition for she has many attributes. Super head with a mischievous expression and she can move. Nice size ultra feminine, her elderly handler should be proud to have such a lovely Cairn as a fireside pet, but for me it was frustrating.

NB

  1. Cameron’s Stryveling Miss Merrilees.

I was taken by this yearling, red with a very nice head and expression, lovely neck & shoulders very well put together and balanced. She moved well and showed all out. I particularly looked her mischievous nature keeping her handler on her toes, something to be encouraged.

  1. Bradshaw’s Newfield Heather Honey.

Another nice type of bitch. Lovely head and expression who showed very well in super coat & condition. Not quite the overall balance of one, but a credit to her owner.

  1. Birselaw Starlet To Jancairn

Res Ough’s Ocedor Willow the Wisp

VHC. Burton’s Minorcas Mona Leisa

GB

  1. Dean’s Orior Lady Lorna.

R/B who was totally out of coat. I would have preferred a little more of her with better bone. But she moves with drive and never stopped showing.

  1. Ough’s Ocedor Morning Star.

Whom similar remarks apply to but not quite the movement of 1. Both have lovely outgoing temperaments.

PGB

  1. Jeffrey’s Sandaig Skye Song.

Super head and expression, nice front, neck & shoulders. Level topline, good tailset well bodied and was shown in a full coat of good quality, moved steadily.

  1. Osborn’s Tweslam Kalamazoo.

Another good bitch not quite the head of 1 but she moves with drive and shows all-out. Was in supper coat and condition, close decision.

  1. Burton’s Minorcas Sure To Please

LB

  1. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Glengettie.

She took my eye the moment she entered the ring and did not disappoint. Red/brindle with a nice head and expression. Super mouth, super neck & shoulders level topline tail on top. Lovely depth & spring of rib. She moved with drive and freedom on a loose lead, totally balanced, on this performance she was my CC winner and BIS over a quality male. CC & BIS.

  1. Catto’s Birselaw Special Moment.

If CC’s were awarded on heads alone then this would have been my winner. Another quality bitch who is well put together, moves well but could have a bit more drive and put a bit more into her showing. She screams breed type and will always be in the running for top honours, a very close decision with both the winner of limit and open for the CC & RCC. A lovely cairn.

  1. Shearsmith’s Cloverbrook Double Six At Eborvale

Res. Peer’s Tweedisle Gorgeous Geena

OB

  1. Pollock’s Ch. Stanedykes Diva.

Brindle who was on top form today. Shown in super coat and condition, so well put together, she moved very well in front and drives from the rear. Ws in good body and looked a picture standing. The limit bitch just had that wee bit something extra today but a real quality Cairn to be proud of. RCC

  1. Jeffrey’s Sandaig Suilean Dubh.

Super headed bitch who is not exaggerated in any way. Very well put together, is of a type I like and was shown in a full coat of good quality. She put in a very good performance and looked the part.
