My thanks to the exhibitors for the high quality entry. Cairns were second in the ring on an extremely hot day. The heat and lack of shade had an adverse effect on some of the exhibits, and several top quality dogs lost their usual energy and enthusiasm. It has been noticeable this year that there has been a lack of male puppies at this and other shows. I am concerned that if this reduction in young males continues the effect it will have on the gene pool and the future of the breed.
