CAIRN TERRIERS
SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER 2005
It has been two years since I last judged and I must say that the heads on our lovely breed have not improved. I was also disappointed in the lack of quality in the dogs.
I judged the dogs on the day as I saw them, with the breed standard foremost in my mind.
1st SHOPLAND`S CHERRYCRACK MACK THE KNIFE
7 month W/B, expressive head, good stop and ear set, large teeth, firm body in full puppy coat B.P.D.
2nd PEER`S TWEEDISLE SWEET TALKING GUY
Same remarks apply as above, just preferred head and balance of winner
P.D. 4 ( 2AB)
1st HAWKIN`S KILNYARD ARCHIE SPANGLES T.A.F.
11 month W/B, compact body, full double coat. Could benefit by losing some weight Nicely presented.
2nd KEEVES` SEVEEK IT’S A GIFT
Wheaten. Rangy youngster, totally overawed by everything on the day.
1st FELTERS & RUMENS LANDBUCK LITTLE TYKE
17 month Red Brindle, head of equilateral proportions, neat well set ears, eyes dark of medium size and shape, straight front, ample neck flowing into correct shoulder placement. Moves true fore and aft. Has the correct double coat. On the down side could be more animated.
2nd FIRTH& JONES CAIRNGOLD COSMONAUT
15 months. Lots to like about this young man who lost out today on maturity. Head, body and coat not as developed as winner. Excels in profile, top line and tail set. First class showman. Well handled. His day will come.
3rd THOMPSON`S CASTLELINE JACKARD
1st EHRENBERG`S CARRADINE MASTER TIGGER
Dark grey brindle enhanced with dark points. Correct head, well set ears, definite stop, sparkling eye. Liked his overall make and shape, ample bone. Covered the ground with ease driving from the rear. Alert extrovert showman. Considered for top honours.
2nd BROWN`S CRUZO GOLD CHARMER
Wheaten, dark eye, nice balance and top line. Another well animated cairn which moved freely. Preferred head of 1
3rd CHAMBERS & THOMAS CAIRNGROVE RED RASCAL
L.D. 3 (2AB)
1st STEPHINSON`S TWOHOOTS ARTHUR
Clear red, up to size, upstanding dog, all male, well animated. Moved well from rear.
O.D 6 (2AB)
1st SHORTS GLENCHESS BLACK TIE
Mature wheaten dog, masculine head, well constructed without being coarse. Good front assembly and rear angulation, which reflected in his movement. He flowed around the ring with ease. In full double coat, well presented in tip top show condition. Showed all out today to win him the C.C. & B.O.B.
2nd TEMPLETONS LARCHLEA IF LOOKS COULD KILL
Dark G/B larger size than 1. In excellent coat and condition, good muscle tone, firm top line. Moved freely.
3rd SHAWS HONEYHALL HELLAVAGUY
1st SHAW`S HONEYHALL HEAD OVER HEELS
7 month wheaten, aptly named, delightful baby. Sweet feminine head, neat ears, dark mischievous eye, firm body, well laid down hocks. Moved with style and confidence. In full puppy coat.
Top drawer quality, no doubt will be a big winner B/P
2nd PEERS TWEEDISLE PILLOW TALK
7 months, another pretty wheaten with dark points, nicely bodied, steady movement.
3rd MOSELEY`S SPAWYCHE ELIZABETHAN LACE
P.B 6 (1AB)
1st TOWER`S DENELAND CATHERINE
10 months G/B, pretty head of correct proportions, neat ears, excels in profile and tail set. Moved well, happy show girl, between coats. Needs to grow on a little. Nice puppy.
2nd BURNETTS KILNYARD CUT THE MUSTARD
11 months, wheaten, good size, nicely proportioned, steady mover.
3rd DAVEY`S BERANBURGH THE BLACK PEARL
J.B 5 (1AB)
1st DOLAN`S GLENROOD DUSTY PIPIT
G/B exhibiting the desirable cairn head and expression. Stands well forward, firm body and top line. Moved well.
2nd THOMPSONS CASTLELINE CALICO
Wheaten, attractive head with dark points which enhanced her appeal. Balanced, excels in profile and side gait. In full coat and A1 condition. Presented and handled with finesse. Just preferred the movement of one.
3rd CONFUE`S ANJOFRA QUEEN OF TARTS
P.G.B 8 (1AB)
1st MOSELEY`S SPAWYCHE ELIZABETHAN RUBY
G/B Appealing head and eye. Nice size, in very full coat which detracts from overall body shape. Everything fits into place when examined on the table. Moves well when she wants to. Naughty but nice!
2nd RADFORD`S SKIMMERTON SILVER SEQUEL
G/B dark points, good top line. Liked her type, strode out well. Preferred head and expression of winner.
3rd STEPHINSON`S TWOHOOTS CECILIA
L.B 11 (2AB)
1st DOLAN`S GLENROOD MAGIC SOLITAIRE
Attractive G/B, correct cairn head and expression. Well put together, elegant neck flowing into sloping shoulders. Good spring of rib and turn of stifle.
Excels in top line and tail set. Moves freely. Lovely alert showgirl. Did everything that was asked of her to win the C.C.
2nd MOSELEY`S SPAWYCHE ELIZABETHAN PEARL
Wheaten bitch that I have always admired. Super head and expression. Correct sound conformation. Fully coated, moves freely. Unlucky to meet winner today.
3rd SHOPLAND`S CHERRYCRACK CHASING AMIEE
1st SMEE`S OUDENARDE BELLE AMOUR
Typey G/B, honest bitch, not exaggerated in any way. Characteristic head with mischievous dark eye. Appreciated her virtues going over her on the table. Conforms well to the standard. Naughty and wilful, gives her handler a hard time, but she is a cairn! Moves soundly, pleased to award her the R.C.C.
2nd TEMPLETON`S LARCHLEA LET ME ENTERTAIN U
Quality G/B built on a larger scale than 1. Extrovert personality, super showgirl in superb coat and condition. Covers the ground with ease. Preferred size and expression of winner.
