Cairn Terriers – Judges Report
I enjoyed judging this show enormously and was heartened by the good quality of the entry. I felt heads had improved since I last judged, coats were in good condition and temperaments were fine. Movement is still a worry particularly at the rear. In some classes I wished I had more cards.
MPD(2)
1 Saich’s LINCOLY HIGH FLYER a nicely balanced boy with all necessary potential – head furnishings would complete the picture
2 Peers’ TWEEDISLE THAT SPECIAL SON another nice puppy but not quite so positive in rear movement and needs to lose a little weight!
PD(7-2a)
1 Weinberger’s CORRENIE MISTER BO-JANGLES good head and expression, correct mouth, straight front and level topline. Moved out well.
2 Saich’s LINCOLY GOLDEN LEGEND more rangy that 1 but still balanced and moved well, Good bone, head correct proportions but needs furnishings.
3 Lifton’s GLENROOD STORMKEEPER AT LIFFYCAIRN
JD(10-1a)
1 Shopland’s CHERRYCRACK MACK THE KNIFE liked his size and balance. Good proportions to head and big teeth. Moved well round the ring and showed all out.
2 Thomas & Hooton’s RASKEN’S ROMPING PLAYBOY slightly larger than 1, in good coat and very masculine. Liked him very much but pipped by 1 on movement on the day.
3 Shannon & Storr’s BRENDARCY SPELLBINDER
PGD(6-1a)
1 Thompson’s CASTLELINE JACKARD wheaten brindle with dark points, looking a complete picture today. Good head and eye, well balanced with good length of neck into level top line.
2 Felters & Rumens’ LANDBUCK LITTLE TYKE red brindle not quite so finished as 1. Good head, well balanced with very well laid back shoulders.
3 Frost’s PENTICHARM BLACK JACK
LD(3)
1 Ehrenberg’s CARRADINE MASTER TIGGER handsome red brindle with masculine head, good neck and shoulders. In full coat and really making the most of himself.
2 Fairweather’s OCK ROSS I’M THE BOSS beautiful headed grey brindle with lovely large teeth. Smaller type than 1 but well made, just did not cover the ground quite as well as 1
3 Birch’s KINKIM KERNEL
OD(5)
A quality class with not a lot separating the exhibits.
1 Middlehurst’s CH. CANWOOD AS IF BY MAGIC AT STARVEREN handsome grey brindle who has been well written about. Loved his head, good neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Correct topline and tail set, presented in tip top condition. Today her sparkled – pleased to give him the DCC.
2 Weinberger’s CORRENIE ALTISSIMO another lovely dog, liked his make and shape. Everything as it should be but not quite the sparkle of 1. RDCC
3 Karlsen’s FIN/DAN/NOR/INT CH KRAMERS NIGHT RIDER
MPB(2)
1 Keeves’ SEVEEK ONE FOR THE MONEY a wild little bitch which was hard to access! Nevertheless typy and full of Cairn spirit.
2 Saich’s LINCOLY SHE’S A DEVIL WOMAN nice type, up to size with good bone but unhappy in the ring today.
PB(5-2a)
1 Felters & Rumens’ LANDBUCK LEMONCELLO loved her type, sweetest of heads and expression, good neck flowed into well laid shoulders. Well made quarters and correct tail set. Coat should complete picture but she is a puppy and was pleased to award her BP
2 Dolan’s GLENROOD CASCADE much smaller wheaten bitch but so feminine, just needs to tighten in front.
3 Saich’s LINDOLY SHE’S A DEVIL WOMAN
JB(7-1a)
1 Thomas’ TYCADNO WISHING ON A STAR a very mature looking junior bitch, full coated wheaten with dark points. Moved well with good bone and lovely feet. Showed all out, her day will come.
2 Oldale’s CRANAE NEW DAWN very sound red, moved steadily. Feminine head with neat ears and good stop, strong hindquarters.
3 Bradshaw’s NEWFIELD HEATHER MAGIC
PGB(11-1A)
1 Innett’s MACS CLOUD VANITY AFFAIR WITH CARRADINE beautiful bitch who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. In lovely coat with appealing expression, dark eye and good stop. Covered the ground well but inclined to overstretch when standing which affected her overall balance.
2 Short’s GLENCHESS LITTLE BLACK NUMBER grey brindle – so very typy and feminine. I had a hard job to separate the 1st & 2nd as both such lovely bitches. Moved very well in front & rear, a little more coat would complete the picture.
3 Cameron’s STRYVELING MEG MERRILEES
LB(10)
1 Ward’s VANAJAM HOKUS POKUS wheaten brindle with dark points and beautiful outline. Good body with well sprung ribs. Well laid shoulders with level top line and well set-on tail. Excellent front and harsh coat. RBCC
2 Weinberger’s CORRENIE HI-LILY well balanced dark grey, nice size, good head, dark eye, well laid shoulders, level towline. Moved well.
3 Keeves SEVEEK CHASING DREAMS
OB(8-3a)
1 Hogarty’s IR.CH CADAGIO CATCH ME IF YOU CAN a really quality bitch, well balanced and full of Cairn spirit. Beautiful head with feminine expression, dark eye, good stop. Well laid shoulders, level top line, good tail set. In full well presented coat and flowed round the ring. Pleased to award her BCC & BOB
2 Shopland’s CHERRYCRACK CHASING AIMEE another very well made grey brindle in hard coat and condition. Lovely head, dark eyes and good stop. Well sprung ribs and good quarters.
