Cairn TerrierThank you for a most wonderful entry it was a great privilege to handle so many quality exhibits. Overall, as usual, the bitches surpass the dogs in overall quality & movement Some Cairns did feel very heavy even if they didn’t appear so. My main concern was the general condition of a lot of the coats. Sticky grooming substances had been used on many exhibits & were great at attracting dirt & accentuating soft hair. A coat should be of double layers & weather resistant. Heads were OK but often a definite stop was lacking. Much to my surprise, I found some mouths that were questionable with dirty teeth but I did find lots of lovely white teeth. On a positive note, there was plenty of adequate length in proportion, level toplines with good tailsets.
VD (5,l) I Petts’ Doonrae Dragoon 7years&7 months, very smart dark grey well presented, in good order, nice level topline & tailset. Liked his overall balance & length of leg, free & sound on the move. 2 Birch’s Ch Kinkim Prinz Ludy 9 years & 3months, another smart dark grey, put down in good order. Nice head with good Cairn expression. Just preferred the coat of I. Enjoyed his day out 3 Kippen’s Chezaku Master Mischief 8 years & 7 months, another very smart & happy Cairn, wheaten although a bit short of coat but is of harsh texture. Nice overall length.
PD (11,1) 1 Burnett’s Kilnyard Knave and Rascal, II months, wheaten of good overall type. Liked his neck & shoulders with level topline & tailset. Very smart free movement. Firm hindquarters. BP 2 Saich’s Kiataia Masquerade, red with nice head & expression, good neck & shoulders with overall nice firm body with level topline. Happy temperament & sound free movement 3 Green’s Aizenaiy Toby Or Not Toby nicely coated red, also with nice head & expression. Liked his overall construction, level back & length of leg.
JD (8,1) 1 Hooton’s Penticharm Party Knight ultra smart & well presented cream with most attractive head. Built all in proportion, firm ribcage & well sprung hindquarters, nice level back, free flowing movement; 2 Peer’s Tweedisle That Special Son, showy cream with nice reach of neck & shoulders. Good firm body nice length of leg with nice neat feet. Movement not so free as I; 3 Burnett’s Kilnyard King Of The Castle, litter brother to I in PD. Wheaten with good overall outline. Nice head with attractive dark points, neck & shoulders, neat legs & feet. Needs plenty of time to mature.
