Leeds Championship Show – Cairn Terriers
I should like to thank all those exhibitors
who were sporting enough to enter under me.
I found coats to be variable, some really good, others very short and
some, quite frankly dead. Mouths on the whole were very good indeed, many with
large teeth. I found no incorrect bites
and no fronts were unacceptable. Movement again was variable, some rear
movement was poor.
I was very pleased with the applause which was
forthcoming at my placings in a large number of classes. This is something I have noticed is quite
rare around the Cairn ring these days.
The wording on the Challenge Certificates,
(for those who have not won one yet) says that the recipient exhibit must be
considered by the judge to be worthy of becoming a Champion. It was my great pleasure to be able to award
2 C.C.’s and give 2 quality examples of the breed their titles (subject to K.C.
regs.)
As both had already got 2 CC’s each, at least
4 people should agree with my top placings.
Again thanks to all who entered under me and commiserations to those who
could not get to the show because of the dreadful weather conditions.
Minor Puppy Dog (4, 3A)
- Butterfield’s Camasmor Can Do, light red, coat in good
condition, correct mouth & eye.
Alert expression, correct tailset.
Moved well and very composed for one so young.
Puppy Dog (1)
- Smith’s Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, dark brindle with a
hint of red. Good mouth, correct
eye & earset. Short jacket but of good texture. Well set on tail. Well muscled, level topline. Very mature for age, moved well when he
finally settled down. Excellent
showman. Best Puppy
Junior Dog (4, 1A)
- Stephinson’s Twohoots Barnabas, wheaten with dark
points, good mouth, correct eye, pleasing length of neck flowing into
clean shoulders. Coat of correct
texture and in good condition.
Proportionate length of back & correct tailset. Moved well & showed steadily.
- Watson’s Fieldron I’ve Got News For You, dark brindle
with a head to die for. Excellent
mouth, correct eye and earset. Nice
length of neck, clean shoulders, excelled in topline and tailset. Brilliant showman and perhaps too full
of himself on the day, making movement difficult to assess.
- Lynch’s Fieldron Call My Bluff at Linacrelads
Novice Dog (0)
Post Graduate Dog (7, 3A)
- Grainger’s Devil in Disquise, bright red, fantastic
mouth with large teeth. Pleasing
head & expression. Coat of
nice length & good texture.
Well balanced, moved soundly front & rear and showed steadily. RDCC
- Percy’s Winetta Jimmy Mack, red brindle, no mistaking
him for a bitch, all male.
Wonderful head & expression with lovely dark mask. Pleasing length of neck, clean
shoulders, good tailset. Moved
well front and rear. Coat not as
profuse as winner but of good quality.
- Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Precious Cargo
- Soper’s Uniquecottage Ring Plover
Limit Dog (4, 1A)
- Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Spellbinder, wheaten
with dark points, good mouth, correct eye. Attractive head with fine
Cairny expression. Coat spot on
for texture and length. Well set
on tail, moved well, showed steadily.
Open Dog (1)
- Short’s Glenchess Black Tie, very light red, good mouth
with large teeth. Mature male with
strong head. Pleasing length of
neck following into clean shoulders.
Well muscled. Good length
of back & correct tail carriage.
Coat of good texture and quite profuse. Moved true front & rear & just flowed around the
ring. A real quality Cairn
Terrier. DCC
Minor Puppy Bitch (3, 1A)
1. Confue’s
Anjofra Me Me Me, bright red youngster, good mouth, good earset, pleasing
expression. Well balanced, coat of
lovely texture and condition. Moved
& showed with confidence for one so young.
2. Butterfield’s
Camasmor Casual Affair, light grey with dark mask, very much a baby and very
feminine. Expressive head, well
balanced, coat of good texture, moved OK but not as confident as winner.
Puppy Bitch (5, 1A)
- Short’s Glenchess Cut The Mustard, bright red, pleasing
eye & expression, good mouth.
Good length of neck, level topline with correct tail carriage. Harsh coat, moved correctly and showed
well.
- Smith’s Rocasovale It’s Up To You, dark brindle with a
touch of red. Very short on coat
but will be of correct texture.
Nice bitchy head, good length of neck and level topline, carried
her tail well. Showed confidently
and moved OK.
- Chambers’ Carocairn As You Like It
- Brenndarcy Cockney Rebel
Junior Bitch (5)
- Stephinson’s Twohoots Agnes, wheaten with dark points,
good mouth & pleasing expression, correct ear set, nicely balanced
throughout. Well angulated rear & well muscled. Coat of good texture & very well
presented.
- Templeton’s Knot To Be Mist, dark brindle with keen
expression, good mouth, correct eye and well placed ear set. Gives her owner full attention, Coat of
good texture and she is really showy, just preferred front movement of
winner.
- Green’s Aizenay Que Sera Sera
- Clarke’s Conundrum Sweeter for Me for Lentricia
- Percy’s Winetta “A” You’re Adorable
Novice Bitch (2, 2A)
Post Graduate Bitch (7, 1A)
- Marshall’s Strathgarten Kenmilfore Lady Marmalade,
light red with dark points, very feminine, attractive head, sound &
well balanced, carried her topline well on the move. Showed with verve, full of herself on
the day.
- Keeves’ Seveek The Mystery of Dreams, dark brindle,
another one on form today. Well
balanced, very tight, harsh coat.
Good topline and tail carriage, well muscled. Full of it when moving but in rapport
with her handler. Very close
decision between 1 and 2.
- Shearsmith’s Eborvale Enchantress
- Bradshaw’s Newfield Heather Magic
- Chambers’ Cairngrove Shadow Dancer
Limit Bitch (6, 2A)
- Shannon, Storr & Culliford’s Brenndarcy Be Bop
Deluxe, wheaten with dark points, mouth, eye and ear set all correct. Lovely bitchy head, nice length of neck
flowing into clean shoulders, coat of good texture, length &
condition. Level topline and tail
well set on. Well muscled with good rear angulation. Moved true front and rear, a quality
bitch, RBCC
- Osborne’s Tweslam Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Busy, intense
red, expressive head, good mouth, correct eye & ears, nice length of
neck into well laid shoulders.
Level topline, carried her tail at correct angle. Coat of good
texture but not so profuse as winner.
Moved well. Pushed winner
very hard.
- Strickland’s Tanteazle Trojan Maid
- Owen’s Caldwall Cordelia
Open Bitch (7, 3A)
- Petts’ Cannwood Kasta Spell at Doonrae, dark brindle,
this bitch has now reached full maturity and was on top form today, full
of life and looking well. She
ticks all the boxes of the breed standard. But for me she excels in general make and shape &
balance. She has adequate muscle,
straight front, well laid shoulders, good spring of rib and well let down
hocks. She moved with animation,
true at the front with drive from the rear. Showed with verve. BCC
& BOB
- Osborne’s Tweslam Kalamazoo, dark red brindle, very
similar in stature to winner.
Feminine head, good topline, nicely balanced. Coat not as good condition on the day
as winner. A lively performer,
handled well.
- Felters & Rumens’ Ch Landbuck Heidi Claire
- Keeves’ Seveek Chasing Dreams
