BORDER UNION CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
CAIRN TERRIERS
SUNDAY 15th JUNE 2008
My favourite show and it was a pleasure to judge here. Excellent ring conditions and the cool weather made everything just perfect for dog showing.
My appreciation to the exhibitors for their support at what is becoming a very expensive hobby. I was surprised to find a number of incorrect mouths and exhibits in poor show condition, some over weight others lacking body, this reflected in some of my placings but I was pleased with the overall quality of the entry.
On the day I was looking for good conformation, breed type and soundness, coat conditions and the overall handling and presentation was just the icing on the cake I found all of the latter in my top winning dogs today.
1 Marshalls - Strathgarten Crackerjack.
7 1/2 month old clear red with dark points. Good mouth and pleasing expression well presented, playful but steady on the move.
J.D. 6
1 Templetons- Larchlea Time To Entertain,
G/B correct head, neat well set ears ,dark eye, nicely proportioned body, toned muscles which enabled him to move with ease ,quality textured coat coming in .Considered for the RCC but just thought he lacked a bit of maturity on the day.
2 Newtons- Strathinver Such A Star,
Full coated W/B no mistaking his masculinity, old fashioned type of cairn, strong head good top line and tail set moved well, could be trimmed to better advantage.
3 Moseley & Inett – Spawyche Elizabethan Onyx.
N.D. 1
Berrecloths- Sybster Screenplay,
G/B with dark points. Unplaced in strong J/D class, nice head and size showing well but lacking in coat today.
P.G.D 3
1 Smiths - Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle,
Imposing W/B well up to size masculine head with neat ears, neck flowing into level top line, ample bone without being coarse, in heavy coat which enhanced his size, alert and full of confidence moved soundly.
2 Lynchs – Fieldron Call My Bluff at Linacreslads,
W/B on his toes, liked his head and true cairn expression straight top line nicely presented in lovely coat and condition would benefit to lose a little weight. Moved steadily.
3 Chirnsides Soutra Little Lion.
L.D. 5
1 Cattos- Birselaw Daydream Believer,
W/B Stood out in this class today, true to type, most appealing head with enchanting expression, dark eye defined stop, neat ears, neck flowing into correct shoulder placement, top line firm and held on the move ,good turn of stifle and well muscled quarters which propelled him round the ring with ease. True movement, in top show condition everything spot on, just loved him CC & BOB.
2 Camerons- Stryveling Robb Ruadh,
Red with dark points ,shade smaller than 1 but every thing in proportion strong outline expressive head, correct front and rear angulations excels in top line and tail set moving parallel fore and aft and so sound. Unfortunately could not match the style and presence of 1 today RCC.
3 Firth & Jones- Cairngold Jackpot.
O.D. 3
1 Dolan & Inetts Glenrood Iceman,
Showy wheaten with dark points, stands well showing a good profile .Good cairn head and conformation .Just felt he was not at his best today and in the challenge unable to match the movement of the dogs taking top honours.
2 Peers - Tweedisle Piper Boy,
Wheaten ,rangy and up to size but balanced handles well on the table, masculine head, easily defined quarters, lacking body and maturity just needs time.
3 Burgins - Nutshki Dark Knight For Noncom.
P.B. 8 (1)
1 Burgin - Noncom Miss Hat He Chewed,
G/B 7 1/2 month, rangy puppy with true cairn expression mischievous eye, firm bodied good front and rear angulation. Moved freely around the ring with style. In full coat, just needs to gain a little more confidence. B/P
2 Felters & Rumens Landbuck Jazz Hands,
Another lovely puppy almost 8 months, cream baby with dark points so sweet and full of confidence, well put together especially liked her front assembly, legs and nicely padded feet. Coat passed its best and lacking face furnishings.
3 Powells – Noncom Mad Madam Mimm At Rosenez.
J.B 7 Quality class
