THE CAIRN TERRIER ASSOCIATION, CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 22/11/2208

I apologise for the delay with my critic but my best of intentions were thwarted by ill health of myself, family & dogs.
 
It was a great honour & pleasure to judge the C.T.A.Champ Show. Thank you to the officials & committee for their hospitality & to my stewards for their help enabling me to complete judging in very good time. 
 Since last judging the breed almost 2yrs ago, when I found hind movement to be very poor, I did think movement had improved overall. I tried to make it my priority again, as it is more important to have sound & typical Cairns than to prioritise presentation & showmanship which are both temporary conditions.
There were a few heads lacking stop, one or two round prominent eyes, some small teeth but bites were ok. I was delighted with my line ups & also the veterans. There are still many top quality Cairns to be seen in the ring!

 

MPD 3 FIRTH'S CAIRNGOLD SPIN OF THE WHEEL, Almost 9mths Lt/red
Well grown, head needs time to develop & front to tighten, showed well & won on maturity over 2.BENNETS MAXIMAL TINKERS MOON, Red/br well up to size, attractive head & expression, reach of neck, will look better when coat comes, only 6mths but enjoyed showing.

PD4 DOWNIE & TATE'S JAEVA FACE THE MUSIC BPD.
Very smart dk/br liked his size & shape, attractive head & expression set off by neat, correctly positioned ears. Level  topline & good tailset. Just carrying a little extra weight today, which spoilt his front. Excellent showman. Well handled.
2. UNIQUECOTTAGE RAYLEIGH Lovely type, balanced well made body Happy showman but a little erratic on the move.

JD4 FELTERS & RUMENS LANDBUCK COLOUR CODE. BEST JUNIOR
Cream, masculine head but would like dk points to set it off, well balanced outline, good bone & body, moved with drive. showed well.
2.MARSHALL'S STRATHGARTEN CRACKERJACK IYR & still maturing. Liked his head &  expression, nicely balanced outline. & good bone, Front needs to tighten, rear OK. showed well.

1. PEERS TWEEDISLE KRAZY KOOT Wheaten still a puppy nice head eyes, mouth. Front narrow but straight. Not enjoying himself today.
2. OUGHS OCEDAR BENJI Red head o.k. showed well but out of coat. Good outline & tailset.
 
UGD.4 IST NONCOM INETT TU WINNIT WITH CARRADINE
WH/BR wh/br lived up to his name! Lovely head with good  stop & dark points. Good size, reach of neck & outline well presented moved with drive. Should do well when mature Won with ease.
2.PURVIS'S MOSSPUR LICENSED TO THRILL Wheaten head o.k. Good topline & tailset, showed well but not the quality or movement of 1.

I.TEMPLETON'S LARCHLEA TIME TO ENTERTAIN dk/br liked his beautiful head & expression, neat ears. Good size, outline & tailset. Super coat & condition Really good cairn type. Standing looked a picture but close front movement let him down. Showed so well
2.EDNEY'S CHERRYCRACK POACHER Red. Head ok. But dark points would enhance. Good reach of neck & outline, won his place with better movement than

LD 4-2ABS CAMERON'S STYVERLING ROBB RUADH A really good allround Cairn who moved exceptionally well. Not a large dog but so well balanced. In lovely coat & condition. Showed well. Close up for top honours.
2. SAICH'S LINDCOLY GOLDEN LEGEND Red, bigger dog with good bone, reach of neck, topline & tailset. Moved & showed well. Needs more hair on backend.

OD 8-1ABS A worthy open dog class.
WAUGH'S TRIBANNON WARLORD CC & RBIS What a great dog to go over! Really honest type. Loved his head with deep stop & masculine expression. Good reach of neck, well made body, spring of rib, correct shoulders which made for superb front movement, good outline & drive on the move. coat of good texture but presentation could have been better. Since deciding to make movement priority in judging today, this was my worthy CC winner who excelled in that department.
2.CATTO'S CH.BIRSELAW DAYDREAM BELIEVER RES CC Super headed dog, with good stop, well furnished. So well balanced, reach of neck, topline & tailset. Moved well, in great coat & condition which just tipped the scales over his super dad. Worthy champion.

1. CATTO'S CH.NOR SWED DAN FIN CH BIRSELAW BILLY FURY 7YR OLD. DK/BR now. I remember admiring his beautiful head when he was wheaten/ dk.points! What an ambassador for our breed- Excels in head, reach of neck, topline, tailset, bone & temperament. Moved with enthusiasm & as if he could go allay. Showed all out pushed top winners hard BEST VET.
2.PARKER-TUCKERS UNIQUECOTTAGE OYSTER CATCHER red, 12yrs another very typey cairn in correct double coat, very good condition, enjoyed his outing, moved 7 Showed well.
 
MPB.12-2 CATTO'S BIRSELAW BEWITHCED 7MTHS WH/BR Feminine hd, neat ears, dark, eye, well bodied, in gd coat & condition, nice front, moved well. Another promising puppy from this kennel.
2 FIRTH'S CAIRNGOLD TREASURE Pretty cream 9mths pup. Well balanced outline, good body, another good mover & showgirl.
3.HOGARTY'S CADIGIO DESIGNER GENES ARAF.
 
PB.11-4 1.SHANNON & STORR'S BRENDARCY BUTTON IT. BEST PUPPY Quality 10mts wheaten, very attractive feminine hd dk points, neat ears. A well made pup thru’ out. Balanced outline. In correct coat & condition. Moved very well both ways which gave her the advantage for BP.
2.PARKER TUCKERS UNIQUECOTTAGE SEA BREEZE Another quality puppy of good type. Well bodied & correct double coat, moved well both ends. Happy showgirl.

TWO QUALITY PUPPY CLASSES.
 
JB1O-2 1ST FELTERS & RUMENS LANDBUCK JAZZ HANDS, Lovely wheaten of high quality attractive hd, very well constructed which gave her that elusive flowing movement. Showed well here but lost interest in later class & felt her brother was more mature for Best Junior but found both very promising.
2. CAMERON'S STRYVERLING LUCY LOCKET.WH/BR another of quality. Pretty head, dk eyes, good shape, in nice condition & coat. Moved well & showed steadily.
3.BURGIN'S NONCOM MISS HAT HE CHEWED. Made up three quality bitches.

I.PETT'S CAIRNGOLD GUNNING FOR GOLD Lt/red dark points, nicely balanced, liked her head, eye & expression, a rangey type so not yet mature in body, moved & showed o.k.
2. PARKER-TUCKERS UNIQUECOTTAGE GULLIMOT, Wh.dark points another of good type from this kennel, obviously enjoys her food! good topline, moved steadily.
3.LEE'S BERRYBONE CLASSICAL LADY

GRAD 7 IST SHAW'S HONNEYHALL HIDE & SEEK Wheaten,dk pts very attractive feminine head, good stop, neat ears, beautifully balanced with lovely reach of neck, topline & tailset. Could carry a little more body to advantage moved well, super showgirl-should go places when mature.
2.WEINBERGER'S LARCHLEA GOOD VIBRATION AT CORRENIE Dk/br lovely type, nice size-a smaller version of her dam-well made body, moved ok. Not quite the showmanship of 1

PGB. 12- 5 THOMSON'S CASTLELINE BONNIE Wh. A quality & upstanding bitch, nice hd but thought eyes a little bold which detracted from her expression. Liked her outline, topline & tailset. in good coat moved & showed very well.
2.SMEE'S MALMAY SKY'S THE LIMIT Typical dk/br feminine hd, correct size in excellent coat & body condition moved & showed well
close up. 3 FIRTH'S CAIRNGOLD CANDLELIGHT made up a trio of lovely bitches.
 
LIMIT B. 7-2 1ST THOMSON'S CASTLELINE TIGER LILY Wh/br quality b. Owner very lucky to have two such lovely bitches in her kennel! liked her good hd dk points, reach of neck & outline, in good coat, showed well.
2.FIELDERS MIRADORE LITTLE GEM Wheaten well presented in good coat & condition liked her outline held on the move, showed quite well.
3.ROBINSON'S CRUZO BANNOCK BELLE.
 
OB. 9-2 A PLEASURE TO JUDGE THIS EXCELLENT CLASS.

IST CC & BIS ROBINSON'S CRUSOE CINDERELLA Just loved this dk/br took my eye immediately. Beautiful hd & expression. reach of neck & superb balance & outline. Nothing exaggerated but so well put together in excellent coat & condition. Never stopped showing, moved with drive. Delighted to award her the BCC--her 3rd well done.
2. FIRTH'S CAIRNGOLD AVIN A PADDY Another lovely dk/br very attractive hd with that elusive wicked expression not a large b. but very neat & well balanced. Moved well, well presented coat & condition. Could never be ignored as has ring presence & great showgirl. Close up RES.CC
