A Big Thank You To our Overseas Correspondent Reinier Goud for the Photographs.
Paignton Cairn Terrier
My thanks to all who made the long, for some, very long journey to Devon on a very wet Tuesday. The exhibits were not helped by the hall, which if kept it us dry, was dark and dismal.
As is usually the case, bitches were better than dogs. I would have been happy to award two or three C.C.s in the bitch entry. Mouths were on the whole O.K.’ though some make a correct bite by the very smallest of margins. Some otherwise nice Cairns lost their topline on the move, which spoils the picture. One or two otherwise nice dogs were not in condition, being either too fat or too thin.
Dog C.C. Middlehurst’s Zalazar Un Zipped at Starveren. Upstanding red dog, Handles very well on the table. Pleasing head, enough neck, level top line, good spring of rib. Good coat if a little short. Looks very nice standing. Can “paddle” in front ‘till he hits his stride. To be very critical I would have liked him to show a little more animation. On the move he does just enough. Probably the hall didn’t help.
Bitch C.C.and B.O.B.,Weinberger’s Correnie Crazy For You. Grey Brindle bitch, Lovely head giving that so important expression, Good neck, excellent lay back of shoulder, well bodied with sufficient spring of rib. Level top line retained on the move. In good coat and condition. Was surprised this was her first C.C.
Minor puppy dog, 4 (1), 1st. Downies’ Jaeva Face The Music. Grey brindle, liked his head and expression, enough neck, correct shoulders well bodied. In good coat and showed and moved well. Will watch his future with interest. Best Puppy. 2nd. Tutching’s Crowneast Sandpiper, wheaten, O.K. for head enough neck, good shoulders. Rather immature at present. Needs time to develop. 3rd,Parker-Tucker’sUniquecottage Raleigh
Puppy Dog, 3 1st, Percy’s Landbuck Colour Scheme, O.K. in head neck and shoulders well balanced, moved a little tight in front today. Time is on his side. 2nd,Ough’s Ocedar Benji, wheaten puppy. Mature for his age and between coats today. Could lose a little weight to his advantage. 3rd, Uniquecottage Raleigh.
Junior Dog, 2 1st,Newton’s Strathinver Such A Star. Grey brindle, strongly built throughout, not a small dog but well balanced. Enough neck, shoulders o.k. level top line ,turn of stifle and movement o.k.. Wouldn’t like him to put on any more weight. 2nd,Ocedar Benji.
Yearling dog, 1 1st, Smith’s Rocasavale Razzle Dazzle, grey brindle, correct in head neck and shoulders, well bodied, in good coat, loses his top line a little on the move and needs time to settle to move at his best.
Post Grad dog, 6 (3) 1st, Zalazar Unzipped At Starveren. 2nd,Waugh’s Tribanon Warlord, Grey brindle with lots to like, good head, enough neck, good shoulders. To be very critical, I would like him a shade longer in back. Seems to be a difficult dog to show in order to get the best from him 3rd, Hawkins’ Kilnyard Archie Spangles.
Limit dog, 4 1st,Gouds’ Vale Of Atholl’s At long Last, grey brindle, all male, strong head, good neck, correct shoulders, good spring of rib, level top line. Shows himself off very well, ’tho tail carriage could be better. 2nd,Short’s Glenchess All In The Stars, dark brindle, much the same remarks as for first, nice head enough neck, well bodied, level top, showed well. I’m sure they will change places in future. 3rd,Cameron’s Stryvelling Rob Ruadh.
Open dog 5(1) 1st,Percy’s Winetta Jimmy Mack, dark brindle with a good head, enough neck, well placed shoulders, good spring of rib, well bodied and in good coat. Moved well and retained his top line. A dog that is always on his toes, sometimes too much so. Not a big dog, he could be a little longer in leg to complete the picture. R.C.C. 2nd,Hoggarty’s, Ir.Ch.Cadagio The Unexpected, much the same remarks apply, a little shorter in back than 1 and on the day front action could have been better. Well presented and showed well. 3rd,Shopland’s Cherrycrack Mack The Knife.
Minor puppy bitch, 3 (1). 1st,Poile’s Kedvaly Liza With A Z, Promising red pup. Pleasing head, enough neck good shoulders, in good coat for her age. More mature than 2. 2nd,Tutching’s Crowneast Tin Lizzie, grey brindle, lots to like about her but needs time
Puppy bitch, no entries.
Junior bitch,3(1) 1st.Weinberger’s Larchlea Good Vibrations At Correnie, dark brindle, enough neck, good spring of rib level top line, in good coat and condition. Showed well. 2nd,Dolan’s Glenrood Mystic Topaz, wheaten, in good coat and condition, needs to tighten in front, looked immature compared to first. Has time on her side.
Yearling bitch, no entries.
Post grad bitch.9 1st Correnie Crazy For You. 2nd.Short’s Glenchess Cut the Mustard, wheaten, well presented, o’k’ for head neck and shoulders, good topline, in good coat and condition moved and showed o.k.’ R.C.C. 3rd.,Robinson’s Cruzo Bannock Belle.
Limit.8. 1st, Robinson’s Cruzo Cinderella, grey brindle, head typical of the breed, and of this kennel, good neck and shoulders, good spring of rib, shown in good condition. A bitch who should always be in contention. 2nd.Fielder’s Miradorose Little Gem, wheaten, nice bitch to go over, feminine head, good neck and shoulders, enough but not excessive spring of rib, level topline retained on the move. Thought she was out at elbow but decided it was hair. 3rd.,Waugh’s Razzle Dazzle Glory At Tribannon.
Open Bitch.6 (2) 1st., Parker-Tucker’s Splinters Zip In Gold At Uniquecottage, Grey brindle with good head, enough neck, well placed shoulders, well bodied with good spring of rib, in good coat and condition. In the challenge just would not make the best of herself. 2nd.Osborne’sTweslam Izzy Wizzy Get Bizzy, nice red bitch, pleasing head, level topline retained on the move. Moved O.K.’ with good front action. Shown in good condition, an attractive upstanding cairn. 3rd., Lindborg and Norstrand’s Su. Ch.Rasken’s Rich Grey Lark.
