Scottish Breeds Canine Association 28th March 2009.
Cairn Terriers
This was not a big entry at 51
dogs with 9 absentees. It was also a bit of a mixed bag as well in regards to quality
and condition. My winners I was pleased with and I’m sure they could all hold
their own in the best of company. Condition ranged from dog’s carrying too much
weight that affected their movement, to a few dog’s that were just far too thin
and lacking in condition, this was reflected in some my placings.
VD.(2,1abs) 1.RCC, Catto’s,
Ch/Nor/Fin/Dan/Swe Ch Birselaw Billy Fury. Very masculine dark grey brindle. He
carries his 8 years well. And as with so many from this kennel he excels in
head, with that true cairn expression. Good length of neck into well placed
shoulders and a firm level topline. Good spring of rib and in super coat and
condition. Moved with drive and an extrovert showman.
MPD.(2) 1. BP, Mears’, Glenmear
Marauder, 7 month dark red brindle. Presented a balanced outline. Has a well
made head, with correct expression and a good bite. Nicely angulated both ends,
which showed in his movement when he settled to it. Firm topline, good rib and
length of loin. In a full puppy coat of correct texture. Very promising puppy.
Pleased to hear after that he was by the BOB winner. 2. Millers, Birselaw Badgers Dream for Cornton, 8 month grey
brindle. Well grown for age. Well balanced head, with neat ears, but not quite
the expression of class winner. Another nicely made puppy, with a good length
of neck and well placed shoulders, firm topline and shown in good coat and
condition. A confident showman.
PD.(3) 1. Walls. Cloverbrook Ray of
Sunshine Over Shearwater, 10 month light red brindle. Balanced head with enough
stop and a good bite. Still looking a little immature for age, but has time.
Straight front with good legs and feet, with a firm topline. Coat not at its
best but of good texture. Moved steadily and showed confidently. 2. Saich’s,
Lindcoly Here’s Horace, 9 month wheaten. Another immature boy. Has all the
essentials. A nicely balanced head, a good straight front and well angulated
both ends. Good topline and well set tail. Shown in a full puppy coat and moved
well when he settled down. 3. Warne’s, Spirebrooke Dawn Raider.
JD.(5) 1. Downie & Tate’s,
Jaeva Face The Music. Nicely made dark grey brindle, not overdone in any way.
Not a big boy but has a well balanced head with good stop and keen expression.
Good shoulder and forechest, well ribbed and shown in hard condition. Moves
well and confident showman. 2. Percy’s, Landbuck Colour Scheme for Winetta.
Well balanced light red, with a good head and correct bite, not the expression
of 1st though. Firm topline and well sprung rib, shown in first
class coat and condition, covered the ground well on the move. 3. Marshalls,
Strathgarten Crackerjack.
ND.(2) 1. Birselaw Badgers Dream
for Cornton. 2. Lindcoly Here’s Horace.
PGD.(5) 1. Smiths, Rocasovale
Razzle Dazzle, Nicely balanced light grey brindle. Masculine head with good
expression. Well angulated shoulder with good forechest. Nicely ribbed and firm
topline. In decent coat but was lacking furnishings on belly and hindquarters,
which spoilt overall picture. 2. Smiths, Strathview Country Squire. Up to size
and rangy dark red brindle. Masculine in outlook and generally well put
together. Good in front with a decent forechest. Held his topline on the move
and shown in good coat and firm condition. Moves well enough but lacks
animation. 3. Saich’s Lincoly Ernest Ernie.
LD.(1) 1. Templetons, Larchlea
Time To Entertain. Beautifully headed grey brindle, with keen expression. Shown
as always in first class coat and good hard condition. Firm topline, good
spring of rib and well set tail. Moves and shows steadily.
OD.(4,1abs) 1.CC & BOB,
Pollocks, Larchlea Licence To Thrill at Stanedykes. Striking red brindle, all
male and mature for age. Excels in head and has a super expression, correct
bite with big teeth. Good reach of neck into well made front with a well
defined forechest and good ribbing. Firmest of toplines and well set tail.
Shown in excellent coat and condition. Covered the ground with ease on the move
and showed himself off to advantage. 2. Percy’s, Ch Winetta Jimmy Mack. A
masculine dark grey brindle, again possesses a beautiful head with that true
cairn expression. Good front and forechest, firm topline and well set tail.
Shown in good coat and condition. Moved and showed steadily, a worthy champion.
3. Saich’s, Kiataia Masquerade.
VB.(1) 1. Mundays, Ch Stradivarius
Sonata. Well balanced grey brindle. Totally feminine in outlook, with the most
beautiful head and expression. Well angulated both ends and still moving very
soundly. Held her topline on the move and tail bang on top. Happy girl who
never stopped showing.
MPB.(4) 1. Templetons, Larchlea
Can’t Remember. Classy and totally feminine 6 month old dark grey brindle.
Beautiful head with a true cairn expression and a good bite. Presented a
balanced outline, so well put together she had to move right and has a defined
forechest. Shown in a full, well presented puppy coat. Very promising puppy. 2.
Templetons, Larchlea My Elusive Dream. My notes say very similar to class
winner and not surprised to see she is a litter sister. Another feminine bitch
with a balanced head and keen expression. Again presented a balanced outline
and moved well for such a baby. Not as confident as her sister but well
deserved her placing. 3. Berrecloths, Sybster Sonja.
PB.(7,3) 1. Saich’s, Lindcoly Yeah
But No But Yeah. Well balanced and feminine 10 month old wheaten, who gained in
confidence as the class went on. Lovely head with good stop and dark eye. Good
neck into well placed shoulders and straight front. Nicely ribbed and shown in
a full puppy coat of good texture. When she co-operated with her handler she
moved well enough to win class. 2. Clarkes, Lentricia Daddies Girl. Just gone 9
months pale wheaten. Well made feminine head, dark eye and neat ears. Good neck
and topline. Carrying too much weight that affected her front movement. Needing
a new jacket but what was there was of good texture.. 3. Warnes, Spirebrooke
Morning Glory.
JB.(6) 1. Shannon & Storrs,
Brenndarcy Button It JW. Just into junior and still has some maturing to do.
Just right for size and presented a balanced outline. Very feminine in outlook
with a nicely made head, dark eye, neat ears and lovely expression. Good neck
into clean shoulders, firm topline and well set tail. Good coat of correct
texture, presented well. Covered the ground well on the move and showed
steadily. 2. Felters & Rumens, Landbuck Jazz Hands. 17 month clear wheaten.
Another feminine bitch with a well developed head and good bite, not quite the
expression 1st. Nicely put together with good angulations both ends.
Well ribbed and has good legs and feet. Coat of good length and correct
texture. Confident showgirl who moved steadily and soundly. 3. Wrens, Larchlea
Spirit In The Sky
NB.(3,1) 1. Berrecloths, Sybster
Sancerre. 14 month clear wheaten and still has some maturing to do. Nicely made
head with neat ears and dark eye. Well placed shoulders and level topline, held
on the move. Shown in a good hard coat and firm condition. Shows well and moves
ok. Presented a more balanced outline than 2nd. 2. Dawsons, Sybster
Sauvignon. Litter sister to class winner, again has a nicely made head with
neat ears and a good bite. Not so good in front and topline needs to firm up on
the move. Shown in good coat and moved steadily, but not showing with much
enthusiasm.
PGB.(5,3) 1. Saich’s, Lindcoly Oki
Doki. Up to size red, ok in head, has good bite and big teeth. Presented a
balanced outline and is nicely put together throughout. In good body condition
and a full coat. Movement difficult to assess as she wasn’t co-operating too
well with her handler. 2. Dawsons, Sybster Summer Nights. Feminine looking
wheaten. Ok in head and well made front. Carrying too much weight which spoilt
her outline and front movement. Moved steadily but not interested in showing.
LB.(3) 1. Shaws, Honeyhall Hide N
Seek. Ultra feminine wheaten brindle, most beautiful head and expression. So
well balanced with firmest of toplines and tail set bang on top. Lovely front
with defined forechest and good feet. Condition spot on and in the best coat I
have seen her in for awhile. Covered the ground well, driving from the rear and
a super showgirl. Pleased to award her the CC. 2. Clarkes, Conundrum Sweeter
For Me For Lentrica JW. Grey brindle, so feminine in outlook with balanced
head, good expression and neat ears. Nicely made front and level topline. Good
rib and shown in good harsh coat. Shows non stop, moved well in profile but
carrying too much weight which spoilt her front action. 3. Wrens, Larchlea
Light My Fire.
OB.(1) 1. Mundays, Ch Birselaw
Firebird of Stradivarius. Very feminine light grey brindle. Beautiful head,
dark eye and lovely expression. Well balanced with firm topline, well set tail
and hard condition. Good harsh coat but needs a bit more left on her belly and
legs to complete the picture. Moves soundly and shows very well. RCC.
