There was wine & cake for the Exhibitors. As a very happy looking Chrissie Grainger & Liz Thompson celebrated their recent show successes – Three New Champions between them!

THE SOUTHERN CAIRN TERRIER CLUB

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

27 JUNE 2009

JUDGE;PAT JEFFREY – BITCHES

I was delighted to judge bitches at this SCTC Show and to share the judging with two respected senior judges.

Not having been to many shows in the last few years most of the entry was new to me. I think rear movement has improved somewhat in the last few years. Heads in the lower bitch classes, I feel, were lacking in the true Cairn expression and I saw little in the bitch puppy classes that really had the “WOW” factor as  has often happened in  the past. From what I saw in the puppy dog classes I think the young dogs have the better heads.

Temperaments were good and I found very few bitches with the incorrect bite or very small teeth. Even a very pretty feminine head should have large functional teeth and most of them did.

SPECIAL VETERAN, DOG OR BITCH ( 5, 1 ab )

This class was a bit of a problem to judge being dogs and bitches, but Mary and I judged it together and we agreed on the final placings.

1.  Wall’s Ch Shearwater Cae de Sonhas

2.   Dolan’s Glenrood Magic Pippit –

A very  pretty cream bitch of 10 years. Lovely feminine head and expression and in good condition.  BEST VETERAN BITCH

3   Birch’s Kinkim Prinzludy

4   Ough’s Ocedar Kiwi

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (9 -  4 ab)

1                 Shannon & Storr’s BRENNDARCY VIRGINIA PLAIN

Very much a baby at 6 ½  months. Attractive head, good coat and moved quite soundly. BEST PUPPY BITCH

2                 Percy’s WINETTA MY KIND OF GIRL2  and 3 are litter sisters and are almost impossible to separate. Well grown at 6 1/2 months. Close fitting coat of good texture, firm body, well put together and moved quite well.

3                 Percy’s WINETTA SPECIAL DELIVERY

4                 McIntyre’s GLENCHESS CHLOE

5                 Owen’s  HONEYHALL HANDFUL AT CALDWALL

PUPPY BITCH  (8 – 3 abs)

1       Templeton’s LARCHLEA CAN’T REMEMBER

Very dark brindle, good length of neck, good coat, nicely proportioned throughout but a little bit “raw” at the moment. Promising, hope she doesn’t grow on too much on maturity.

2       Weinberger’s CORRENIE CHERIE AMOUR

Light grey brindle of 10 months. Coat at the in between stage, nice head, well placed ears, good length of neck.

3       Berrecloth’s SYBSTER SONJA

4       Fyfe’s ANDRUM PEACE TREATY

5       GLENCHESS CHLOE

JUNIOR BITCH  (20 – 4 ab)

A super class in both quality and numbers and placings could change any time. Some very good sound movement amd some really nice heads.

1       Firth and Jones’s CAIRNGOLD TREASURE

This bitch really caught my eye. Good head and neck, firm topline, good tailset, well balanced. Moved very soundly, covering the ground with ease.

2       CATTO’S BIRSELAW BEWITCHED

A different type to 1, but in quality very little between them. Beautiful, feminine bitch, gorgeous head, neat ears, good neck and topline, excellent coat. Moved and showed well.

3       Confue’s ANJOFRA WELCOME TO LA LA LAND.

4       Shannon and Storr’s BRENDARCY BUTTON IT

5        Ward’s VANAJAM LEADING LADY

MAIDEN BITCH (4 – 1 ab)

1        SYBSTER SONJA

3rd in puppy. 11 months cream, nice head, neat ears, good coat and moved quite well. Slightly longer in back which affected overall outline and balance.

2        Dolan’s GLENROOD WARRIOR PRINCESS.

Grey brindle, sweet head, good topline and tailset. Could do with a bit more body.

3        Saich’s LINDCOLY YEAH BUT NO BUT YEAH

NOVICE BITCH (3 – 1 abs)

1        Poile’s  KEDVAIY  LIZA WITH A Z

A glorious rich red not so much seen nowadays. Excellent quality coat, good head, neck, topline and tailset. A real eyecatcher but movement a little bit loose.

SPECIAL  BEGINNERS BITCH (2 -  l abs)

Grey brindle, good coat, nice head, good topline. Not a big one but well      balanced. Moved soundly.

GRADUATE BITCH

1       Harrison and Inett’s NONCOM MINNIE THE MINX AT CARRADINE

Nice dark wheaten brindle, lovely head, good topline, correct tailset, quality coat but too much hair underneath the body. Really strode out around the ring.

2       Day’s TREKHILLI CHILLI PEPPER AT TRE-KI

Very dark brindle, lovely appealing head, good expression, nice dark hazel eye, neat ears, good topline and tailset., Well balanced.

3       Weinberger’s LARCHLEA GOOD VIBRATIONS AT CORRENIE

POST GRADUATE BITCH (11 – 3 abs)

1       Felters and Rumens LANDBUCK JAZZ HANDS

Cream, nicely balanced, nice head, good length of leg, good topline and tailset. Coat not at its best but she moved so strongly and soundly and this was the deciding factor in awarding her RES BITCH CC.

2       Confue’s ANJOFRA ME ME ME

Similar in type to 1. Nicely proportioned head, good neck and topline and moving well

3       Moseley’s CARRADINE SAPPHIRE AT SPAWICHE

4        Dolan’s GLENROOD MYSTIC  GEM

5       TREKHILLI CHILLI PEPPER AT TRE-KI

LIMIT B ITCH (10 – 2 abs)

3               Shannon and Storr amd Culliford’s BRENDARCY BE BOP DE LUXE
