S.W.and W.of E.CH show held on 23rd October.2010
I have to
admit that prior to judging this show I had misgivings as to what I would
find.I have felt that recently there has been insufficient quality exhibits
being shown especially in the dog classes. The bitches have always been
better, with quality in depth,as was the case at this show.Amongst this entry I
was pleasantly surprised to find 5 dogs(not those already CH.s)that I would
have been happy to award the C.C.On the downside quality was lacking in the
lower dog classes.I found heads that were untypical in formation and therefore
the true Cairn expression was missing.
Vet.Class Dog(1)
Middlehurst's CH.Cannwood as if by Magic to Starveren
br.10yrs.I have judged before many times.A truly lovely example of the breed He
has a well made skull with deep stop, well filled under the eyes, correct length
of foreface, small ears well placed.Teeth, coat and condition all
excellent.Strong outline,great showman.
Sp.Vet.dog or bitch(2.1a)11yrs and over.
Dolan's Glenrood Magic Pippit wh.11 yrs.An enthusiastic
shower, sweet feminine head, mouth full of gleaming teeth. In great condition all
round.
Minor Puppy
Dog(4)
1st Short's Glenchess Gopher,7mths Cream br.Coat at an
in-between stage making for what appeared an uneven topline---which was not the
case when examined on the table.Pleasing head and expression with the correct
bone structure for a cairn.easy free movement.
2ndTempleton's Larchlea I want to Break Free.7mths.Showy
dk.br.,less mature in body than 1st.Very good coat, moved well, better behind
than in front.
3rsdKeeves'Seveek Who Dares Wins.
Puppy dog(6,2a)
1st. Braybrook's Cloverbrook Codebreaker 10mths.gr.br.well
balanced body Good head and movement.carrying a bit of puppy fat and in profuse
but correct puppycoat.
2nd Lifton's.Liffycairn Cumon U Irons red br.In
good coat .Typical head. sound.
3rd Saich'sLindcoly Red Adventure.
Junior Dog(6)
1st.Felters and Rumens'Landbuck Tillisch wh.True Cairn head
with desired expression good mouth neat ears dk. eyes ,straight front, well
ribbed ,strong in loin, coat and body condition excellent.
very sound free
mover.comes into his own on the move. won Res.C.C. in hot competition.
2nd Percy's Winetta
Sir Percy, red br.Correctly balanced .Very pleasing in all departments.Close up
to winner but did not move with quite the same freedom .I liked this dog a
great deal.Promising.
3rd Inett's
Carradine Crackaway Jack
Maiden Dog(2,1a)
Inett and Heidecker's Hydecastle Reg the
Rocket,crm.dk.pts.good head though short of furnishings, level topline held
well. Side gait good though a trifle wide both ways.
Novice dog(2,1a)
Keeves' Seveek who Dares Wins,8mth.dk.red br.3rd in minor
puppy, well grown ,needs to fill out in body but it's what to be expected at
this age.The framework is there.moved well enough.
Undergraduate Dog(2)
1st Saich's Lindcoly Dark Enterprise,gr.br.balanced body in
good all round condition, better mover than 2nd
2nd goldfinch'sKanhawa Kaught in a Draught,Smaller red
br.with a good head,mouth and eye colour.moved a little wide.
Post graduate dog(6,1a)
1st Parker-Tucker's Uniquecottage Raleigh dk. br.very
masculine in outlook,in excellent coat and body, well ribbed and strong in
loin.Moved with freedom.Considered for higher honours.
2nd Shannon and Storr's Brenndarcy Trouble at Mill, smaller pattern
than 1st but is a nicely proportioned dog with typical expression, strong
outline carried well.Unlucky to meet 1st in such good form.
3rd Morley's Kedvaiy Locamotion.
Limit Dog.
Here I had quite a choice of very good dogs. Some of these in
my opinion are definitely good enough to be made up. It was this class that
made me feel a bit more optimistic about our breed.(though the first three are
related )
1st. Weinberger's Larchlea Come Fly with me to
Correnie,br,he has matured well and is now looking more like a finished
dog, good head mouth and eye, well conditioned and in ex. coat .Level topline
.Moved well both ways.ex.showmanship.considered for higher honours.
2nd Shopland's Cherrycrack Blackadder,another good dog ,at
present not as mature as 1st but I feel sure his day will come as he is a
worthy example of the breed.typical in head and expression well muscled
quarters, good topline and tail set, moved with an easy and free gait, showed
well.
Here I have to comment on the 3rd dog.
3rd Mears'Glenmear Marauder,a slightly smaller dog than
those above, but very well put together and a head to die for with the ultimate
in Cairn expression.Sound mover carrying his dead level topline with ease.I
felt he could have been presented in a slightly longer coat but surely this is
a dog to watch.
Open Dog (4)
1st.Lindborg and Nordsrand's CH.Raskens Riding
Pawnee.red.with typical head and expression, lovely arched neck flowing into
well placed shoulders, absolute front, strength in loin, well muscled quarters with
strong topline.Excells in side gait but is also sound in fore and aft movement.
2nd Smith's CH. Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, worthy champion not
disgraced here ,balanced well made body, good bone, ex.coupling and muscle
tone.Showed off his good points most of the time but was not as consistent as
1st in displaying controlled movement.
3rd Short's Glenchess All in the stars
Beginners dog(2)
1st Morley's Kedvaiy Locamotion, well constructed and typical head
lovely flowing neckline, level topline, moved well both ways and was a good
showman.
2nd Lamb and
Saltmarsh's Birselaw Fable,up to size masculine dog, good head mouth and eye.A
little proud of his tail which spoilt his general appearance on the move.
Minor Puppy bitch.(8,2a)
1st Mears'Glenmear May Queen,red br.7mths with a
super head and sweet expression,well
defined stop, desired small ears and dark eyes, perfectly balanced body, straight
front with good coupling.Full of herself, truly naughty but very very nice.
2nd Weinberger's Larchlea Back to Black via Correnie,7 mths
smaller very dk. br.pleasing head, neat ears, good mouth and topline harsh
coat.Preferred balance of 1st.

outline, superb flow of neck into clean shoulders.Presented in peak coat and
condition ,good flowing movement and to top it all an impressive show girl.C.C.and
B.I.S.
