Cairn Terrier Club Championship Show 3rd December 2011 May I thank the MCTC Committee for inviting me to judge at their
Championship Show and also thank my stewards, Phillip Horspool and Jenny
Fairweather, for their efficiency and professionalism in keeping the ring
running so smoothly. As usual the bitch entry were stronger than the males, however I did
feel that in a few of the bitch classes there was lack of quality in depth. I
did find a few bad mouths and heads in some cases were disappointing with
round eyes, snipy muzzles and ears too big.
I though movement was ok in most of the cairns, as was their overall
balance. Presentation of coats I think has improved with not so many exhibits
shown in short coat. At last there are a few young males who should have
exciting futures and next year the bitch classes will be highly competitive
with so many lovely bitches vying for top honours. Minor Puppy Dog 1,0a 1st Felter’s & Rumens Landbuck Para Handy, dark/brindle
in very good coat and condition, nice reach of neck, level topline, tailset ok,
moved well behind but needs to settle in front, well up to size, will not
need to grow any more. Puppy Dog 4,0a 1st Petts & Shannon’s Geordie Boy, quality red brindle
in good double coat, has a lovely head and expression, good mouth, nice reach
of neck, with level back and good tailset, well balanced outline and moved
well both ways, showed smartly, BPD. 2nd Robert’s Cannwood Cut Above, typy wheaten with dark
points, head will be enhanced when he gets more furnishings, well constructed
throughout with good neck, topline and tailset, sound movement, is at that
in-between stage, just needs a bit more time. 3rd Percy’s Winetta Stand And Deliver Junior Dog 1,0a 1st Peer’s Tweedisle Sea Scout, wheaten brindle in good
coat, attractive head with dark points, good mouth, well balanced, nice size,
showed well, moved ok once settled, needs a new coat and to body up a bit. Novice Dog 1,0a 1st Fyfe’s Andrum Hawkeye, red in good coat, typy head and
keen expression, good stop, good mouth, well constructed throughout with nice
length of leg, good bone, difficult to assess movement as he was unhappy in
the ring and will need to gain some confidence to show himself to his full
potential. Graduate Dog No Entries Post Graduate Dog 4,1a 1st Robinson’s Cruzo Bilbo Baggins, beautiful wheaten with
the most gorgeous head and expression, good dark eye, neat ears, excellent
mouth, good reach of neck running into lovely clean shoulders, true movement
both ways, balanced and correct size, lovely outline standing or on the move,
was on his toes the whole time, this classy young male oozes quality and
type, I was pleased to award him the CC & BIS. 2nd Inett’s Hydecastle Reg the Rocket, wheaten with dark
points, in good coat and condition, good shoulders and topline, moved well
both ways, showed well, slightly longer in back than 1 and not as well
balanced. 3rd Keeves & Bennett’s Seveek Who Dares Wins Limit Dog 5,0a 1st Hogarty’s Cadagio More Than A Feeling, masculine eye catching
wheaten, just out of junior but already a very mature showman, has a
attractive head with dark points, keen expression, good stop, dark eye, neat
ears, good front, has excellent reach of neck with good lay back of shoulder
and level back, well presented double coat, he moved effortlessly round the
ring, full of ring presence, RCC & RBIS 2nd Braybrook’s Cloverbrook Codebreaker, dark brindle,
another lovely male with the most beautiful head which was fully furnished,
true cairn expression, in full double coat which was well presented, nicely
constructed throughout with good bone and nice length of leg, moved ok once
he settled. 3rd Percy’s Winetta Sir Percy Open Dog 10,4a 1st Shannon’s & Storr’s Brenndarcy Trouble At Mill,
dark brindle in lovely double coat, true cairn head with full furnishings,
well balanced, in excellent body condition, good neck, topline and tailset,
moved well both ways, quality cairn
who showed well in his class but lost interest in the challenge. 2nd Felters & Rumens Ch Landbuck Tillisch, red in
excellent well presented coat, good reach of neck, clean shoulders, good
topline and tailset, very true movement both ways, he presents a well
balanced picture of a typical cairn but personally for me I preferred the
head and expression of 1. 3rd Ward’s Eng Ch Vanajam Pop Idol Special Beginners Dog 1,0a 1st Warne’s Spirebrooke Dawn Raider, dark brindle, really typy male in
full double coat, excellent body condition, beautiful head with true

with aplomb, Best Veteran 2nd Jennings Doonrae Virtuoso, dark brindle male, 15 years
old, very with it, in good coat and condition, good head, level topline and
good tailset, movement a bit erratic but he was showing for all he was worth. 3rd Jennings Doonrae Youthfulness Minor Puppy Bitch 6,1a 1st Shaw’s Honeyhall Hearsay, red brindle, top class puppy with the most wonderful head and
expression, good stop, neat ears, good mouth, excellent reach of neck, level back and good tailset, nice size, has a good textured coat and
moved well both ways, quality cairn,
already a accomplished showgirl, great prospect, Best Puppy in Show 2nd Hogarty’s Cadagio Turning Tables, red brindle, pretty
well balanced head with good mouth and neat ears, in good coat and condition,
good reach of neck, level topline and correct tailset, moved ok behind but
needs to tighter up in front, lovely puppy, very promising. 3rd Percy’s Winetta Unforgettable Puppy Bitch 6,3a 1st Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Snedronningen, wheaten
brindle with dark points, balanced head, good mouth, moved well both ways, in
lovely full double coat, is well balanced and a nice size, typy cairn that
showed well in this class but got fed up in the challenge for best bitch
puppy. 2nd Percy’s Winetta Rebel Rebel, very showy wheaten brindle
with dark points, still needs some more head furnishings, coat of good
texture, moved ok in front but a little close behind, stylish young lady who
keeps a lovely outline standing and on the move. 3rd Coffell’s Ometto Miss Marple Junior Bitch 8,1a 1st Yates & Johnson’s Pendley Playaway, top class
youngster with personality plus! beautifully presented wheaten brindle,
gorgeous head and expression, good mouth, well balanced, in lovely coat,
excellent neck flows into well laid back clean shoulders, level topline,
absolutely true movement both in front and behind, excellent showgirl, lithe
and active she looked like she was game for anything, a bitch with true cairn
spirit, she asked for and got the CC. 2nd Waugh & Carlton- Smith’s Tribannon Guardian Angel,
red brindle, another lovely young bitch with the most attractive head and
expression, deep stop, keen expression, good neck, topline and tailset, so
well put together and is a nice size, true movement back and front, she oozes
type but her coat needs better presentation, however on this occasion because
she is such a quality bitch I overlooked that and was happy to award her the
RCC. 3rd Jones Strathinver Simply Florrie Novice Bitch 6,1a 1st Jones Strathinver Simply Florrie, wheaten bitch with a
nice head with dark points, true cairn expression, good neck, topline and

and has level back and good tailset, smart outline, showed very well, close
decision. 3rd Grant’s Grantsmount Birthday Girl Graduate Bitch 10,3a 1st Warne’s Cloverbrook Carousel At Spirebrooke JW, this is
a really lovely cairn bitch, a grey brindle, beautiful well balanced head
with typy expression, near ears, in very full double coat which was well
presented, lovely neck, shoulders and topline, moved well back and front, good
bone, attentive shower, pressed hard for the rcc. 2nd Kinton’s Woodthorpe Maybe This Thyme, red brindle,

good length and leg, in good double coat, moved well both ways, good showgirl
with a delightful cheeky character. 3rd Ward’s Vanajam Leading Lady Open
Bitch 9,1a 1st Harding’s Ch Cannwood Remember Holly
JW, smart red with dark points, head has good stop and neat ears, good mouth,
she has excellent proportions, moves
with purpose and is true both ways, outgoing and full of herself she is a
wonderful showgirl, she is a honest bitch who handles well on the table, on

quite have the intensity of expression that I found in my bitch ticket
winners. 2nd Hogarty’s Cadagio Make It
Happen, red in excellent coat, has an attractive well balanced head with good
bite and neat ears but would just like a slightly darker eye, up to size but
she still is a well constructed bitch with good neck, topline and tailset,
