GP Out-takes To Follow

Judge praying for guidance

Well groomed exhibit ready for the ring

Calling of the entry for the next class

A quiet corner where to relax

Enthralled at the ringside

Out guessing the judge

Sitting this one out alone

Don’t know how he’ll do,but left

the others at home

have faith I’m the best Cairn Here today

It’show I got to be chief steward

Partaking of the refreshments on offer

Do you see that which I see

Not bad for a 20p draw ticket

The outsider

And one came from the USA

Don’t say I out loud

Heavyweight

It’s Hooohot!

Getting to know you

The reward - RBCC

A Merry Christmas From Both Of Us

Midland Cairn Terrier Club Championship Show 3rd December 2011

May I thank the MCTC Committee for inviting me to judge at their Championship Show and also thank my stewards, Phillip Horspool and Jenny Fairweather, for their efficiency and professionalism in keeping the ring running so smoothly.

As usual the bitch entry were stronger than the males, however I did feel that in a few of the bitch classes there was lack of quality in depth. I did find a few bad mouths and heads in some cases were disappointing with round eyes, snipy muzzles and ears too big.  I though movement was ok in most of the cairns, as was their overall balance. Presentation of coats I think has improved with not so many exhibits shown in short coat. At last there are a few young males who should have exciting futures and next year the bitch classes will be highly competitive with so many lovely bitches vying for top honours.

Minor Puppy Dog 1,0a

1st Felter’s & Rumens Landbuck Para Handy, dark/brindle in very good coat and condition, nice reach of neck, level topline, tailset ok, moved well behind but needs to settle in front, well up to size, will not need to grow any more.

Puppy Dog 4,0a

1st Petts & Shannon’s Geordie Boy, quality red brindle in good double coat, has a lovely head and expression, good mouth, nice reach of neck, with level back and good tailset, well balanced outline and moved well both ways, showed smartly,  BPD.

2nd Robert’s Cannwood Cut Above, typy wheaten with dark points, head will be enhanced when he gets more furnishings, well constructed throughout with good neck, topline and tailset, sound movement, is at that in-between stage, just needs a bit more time.

3rd Percy’s Winetta Stand And Deliver

Junior Dog 1,0a

1st Peer’s Tweedisle Sea Scout, wheaten brindle in good coat, attractive head with dark points, good mouth, well balanced, nice size, showed well, moved ok once settled, needs a new coat and to body up a bit.

Novice Dog 1,0a

1st Fyfe’s Andrum Hawkeye, red in good coat, typy head and keen expression, good stop, good mouth, well constructed throughout with nice length of leg, good bone, difficult to assess movement as he was unhappy in the ring and will need to gain some confidence to show himself to his full potential.

Graduate Dog No Entries

Post Graduate Dog 4,1a

1st Robinson’s Cruzo Bilbo Baggins, beautiful wheaten with the most gorgeous head and expression, good dark eye, neat ears, excellent mouth, good reach of neck running into lovely clean shoulders, true movement both ways, balanced and correct size, lovely outline standing or on the move, was on his toes the whole time, this classy young male oozes quality and type, I was pleased to award him the CC & BIS.

2nd Inett’s Hydecastle Reg the Rocket, wheaten with dark points, in good coat and condition, good shoulders and topline, moved well both ways, showed well, slightly longer in back than 1 and not as well balanced.

2nd Felters & Rumens Ch Landbuck Tillisch, red in excellent well presented coat, good reach of neck, clean shoulders, good topline and tailset, very true movement both ways, he presents a well balanced picture of a typical cairn but personally for me I preferred the head and expression of 1.

Puppy Bitch 6,3a

1st Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Snedronningen, wheaten brindle with dark points, balanced head, good mouth, moved well both ways, in lovely full double coat, is well balanced and a nice size, typy cairn that showed well in this class but got fed up in the challenge for best bitch puppy.

2nd Percy’s Winetta Rebel Rebel, very showy wheaten brindle with dark points, still needs some more head furnishings, coat of good texture, moved ok in front but a little close behind, stylish young lady who keeps a lovely outline standing and on the move.
