Critique for Cairn Terriers at Southern Counties, Newbury Agricultural Grounds, June 2nd 2011

I would to express my thanks to the Committee of Southern Counties Canine Association for inviting me to judge the Cairns at their Championship Show, and to especially thank the exhibitors. As detailed in the critique, there was a high level of quality cairns on the day, although I was surprised to identify that movement, particularly rear movement, was an issue in a number of the exhibits. I enjoyed the day and all cairn temperaments were, as usual, excellent.

Class 1009 Minor Puppy Dog (3, 0)

1st Fyfe’s Andrum Hawkeye

A wheaten brindle dog with particularly good rear movement. Nice strong white teeth with the correct bite. Good head and typical expression, nice length of neck, good level top line and sound in all essentials.

2nd Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There and Back Again

Dark brindle pup, has some maturing to do. Coat in good condition, a typical cairn with correct expression. His dark hazel eyes set wide apart made for a typical cairn expression. Didn’t move as well as 1.
