MIDLAND CAIRN TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

Saturday 1st December 2012

Judge: Mrs Susan Braybrook

I should like to thank all the exhibitors for such a fantastic entry.  I consider it a great honour to judge a club championship show.  The quality of the bitches was superior to the males, but overall I was delighted with my main winners.

My thanks go to my stewards for their hard work on the day.

BCC and BIS: Woodthorpe Maybe This Thyme

RBCC and RBIS:  Ch.Honeyhall High’N’ Dry

DCC and BOS: Ch. Cruzo Bilbo Baggins

RDCC:  Cannwood Cut Above

BPD and BP: Honeyhall Headboy

BPB:  Seveek Living The Dream

BV:  Ch. Devil In Disguise

MPD (3,0)

1)    Honeyhall Headboy

Headed a lovely class of puppies.  A top quality wheaten puppy who took my eye as soon as he entered the ring.  Lovely head, good reach of neck, correct conformation throughout, in profuse coat.  Moved and showed very well.  Excels in breed type.  One to watch. BPD, BP.

2)    Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight

Wheaten with good head and expression.  Good mouth, correct body and balance, correct tailset and in excellent coat.  Moved positively and showed well.  Unlucky to meet 1).

3)    Felters and Rumens’ Landbuck Bytheway

PD (4,1a)

1)     Coffell’s Ometto I Am The One And Only

Very promising cream puppy, up to size for his age.  Excellent head and expression, excellent mouth, good reach of neck, good shoulders and front.  Correct spring of rib, good hindquarters and correct tailset.  Moved and showed well.

2)     Catto’s Birselaw The Thrill Of It All

Another well grown puppy.  Typical quality head and expression as always from this kennel.  Overall balance good.  Would prefer more body.  Coat not at its best today.

3)    Shannon and Storr’s Brenndarcy Borgen

JD (3,0)

1)      Currie’s Stirlingview Stunning

As his name suggests, a stunning exhibit.  Red brindle with excellent mouth, good dark eyes and well placed ears.  Well balanced throughout, correct shoulders and good hindquarters.  Presented in correct jacket.  Moved with drive.

2)     Burgin’s Noncom Hugo First

Up to size red brindle with masculine head and expression.  Good mouth and in correct jacket.  Handled and shown well.

3)     Bateman and Gompels’ Carradine Terrie’s Tipple

ND (0)

GD (1,0)

1)      Bradshaw and Shannon’s Newfield Harvest Moon Over Brenndarcy

Wheaten brindle, liked his head and expression.  Good topline and tailset, nicely angulated quarters, coat just needing attention.  Handled and shown very well.

PGD (3,0)

1)      Brennan’s Milindack What News Watson

Correct for size and balance, excellent head and expression, good mouth, lovely coat and condition.  One of the best movers on the day.  Unfortunately he lacked showmanship on this occasion and therefore missed out on top honours.  My type of Cairn.

2)     Byrne and Innett’s Carradine Brian The Lion

A smart, masculine male, moved out with drive.  New coat of correct texture coming through.  Handled and shown very well.

3)     Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable Sh.CM

LD (8,2a)

1)     Catto’s Birselaw Bobby Darin

Wheaten brindle – excels in head with dark eye, good neck and shoulders.  Very well balanced throughout.  With maturity will bother the best.

2)     Warne’s Spirebrooke Dawn Raider

An old favourite of mine.  Dark brindle, excellent head and correct mouth.  Correct conformation throughout and in excellent jacket.  Preferred the showmanship of 1) on the day.

3)     Harland’s Cannwood Zipper At Thackeston

OD (7,1a)

1)     Robinson’s  Ch.Cruzo Bilbo Baggins

Cream male, certainly up to size but with an excellent head and nice dark eye.  Thoroughly masculine expression.  Good neck and shoulders.  Good front.  Well balanced throughout with well made quarters and correct tailset.  Shown in excellent coat and condition.  Ideally I would have preferred him from a smaller mould, but could not deny his overall quality of conformation and movement. DCC,BOS

2)     Roberts’ Cannwood Cut Above

A wheaten dog with good head and expression.  Good mouth.  In good quality coat and condition.  Moved well but not co operating with his handler today on the move. RDCC

3)     Inett and Bambridge’s Ch. Carradine Crackaway Jack

MPB (5,3a) Two babies of different types.

1)     Confue’s Anjofra Mymble

8 month old wheaten brindle.  Nice head, good dark eye, well placed ears.  In good coat.  Would just like a little more body to complete the picture.

1)     Inett, Harrison, King and Leighton’s Carradine I Am Florence with  Harkinleigh

I loved everything about this Cairn.  Feminine head, lovely reach of neck, nicely constructed in body with a clean outline, good topline and tailset.  Moved out with drive.  A real showgirl.  Howver, today just needing more jacket to complete the picture.  Considered her for the RCC.  Her day will come.
