The North of Ireland Cairn
Club ch show was the culmination of a very special weekend in Belfast. I am
delighted that the individual breed clubs sharing the weekend were able to
use the same venue as the general ch show (the Kings Hall Complex at
Balmoral). This made for lots of interest for everyone, saved costs
& was a good omen for the future. The club provided all sorts of cakes
& other goodies for everyone which was greatly appreciated. There were 42 dogs entered
but quite a few absentees. Fiona Cameron achieved the double in CCs with her
litter brother & sister, Stryveling Rocket Man & Ch Stryveling Sweet
Caroline with the latter going BIS. RBIS was Woodthorpe Maybe This Thyme
& BP, Birselaw The Thrill Of It All. The supporting cast all played
their part too. MPD (2) 1 Catto's Birselaw
The Thrill Of It All; 2 Miller's Cornton Coulter, both very promising at 9
months & both by the same sire. Nice to see complete dentition on both.
Indeed I was pleased to see this asset in several Cairns here. 1 has a lovely
head, eyes & ears, good front, pleasing topline & tailset, good
condition, moved very well. 2 also has a good head, well balanced for age,
pleasing tailset & carriage, moved soundly but 1 just scored in that
little extra development in hindquarters. PD (0). JD (1) 1 Hogarty's Cadagio
Someone Like You, masculine, assertive, good eyes & ears, very good coat
& condition, well bodied, good tail which never stopped. MD (1) 1 C
Coulter. ND (1) 1 Wedge's Master
Mackenzie of Monea, masculine red, very good body & rib but carrying a
little extra weight over his shoulder. Not in best coat but it is coming in
well with good texture. Would like a better expression. GD (2) 1 Bryne &
Inett's Carradine Brian The Lion, very nice grey, good dentition, nicely
balanced & moved accordingly, pleasing head, very alert & expressive,
well bodied, good coat; 2 Fortune`s Eglish Spitting Image with Essdeeeff,
very nice head, good body, nice feet, moved out well & enjoyed himself
but not so good in tail carriage. PGD (1) 1 Fortune's Eglish
Willies Wee Man with Essdeeeff, litter brother to Spitting Image, impresses
with a good typical head, nice for size, well bodied, good tail set, moved
soundly. LD (6) 1 Cameron's Stryveling Rocket Man, very pleasing r/br of
nice size, good head & expression, pleasing front, legs & feet, nice
body, nothing overdone, well made hindquarters, in good coat, moved
& showed well & sensibly. CC; 2 Roberts' Cannwood Cut Above,
lovely wheaten, very well made, good neck, shoulders, topline & tail,
very good head, in nice coat. Is maturing well but still has his mad moments
which certainly came to the fore when moving round the ring, to & fro he
was good. He should go on to great things but has to learn how to behave all
the time! RCC; 3 Allen`s Minorcas Xmas Card. OD (4) 1 Hogarty's Ir Ch
Cadagio More Than A Feeling, handsome wheaten but not as good in shoulders
& a little overdone in girth, nice strong hindquarters, good bone, legs
& feet, coat in good condition. V (4) A. BD (2) 1 E Willies Wee Man with E; 2 E Spitting Image with E. MPB (0). PB (1) 1 Falloon's Tushtagh Bonnie Lass, 6 months grey who needs
lots of training. There is no reason why she should not turn out well, she
has many good points but at the moment does not know how
to make the best of them, coat needs time. JB (2) 1 Clarke's Lentrica
Sweet Sensation, lovely & very promising quality bitch, well
proportioned, pleasing head, good front & hindquarters, nice topline
& tailset, moved & showed very well. Pressed hard for a top award but
I felt she needed a little more time to mature. I will be surprised if she
does not get to the top when she is ready; 2 Hogarty's Cadagio Turning
Tables, not as feminine or as good in shoulder construction as 1, great
showgirl, lovely head, nice tail, good coat. MB (0). NB (3) 1 Buchan's Carradine Little Cracker at Drayem, nice
headed grey, well bodied, good ribs, nicely developed hindquarters, good coat
texture, could be a little firmer in pasterns; 2 Wedge's Minorcas Annmirella
Girl, very showy dark grey who still needs to body up & coat needs more
density, intense expression, moved well; 3 Dean's Orior Hi Fi. GB (1) 1 Inett, Harrison,
King & Leighton's Carradine I Am Florence with Harkinleigh, very nice,
stylish heather brindle, good neck, shoulders, topline & tailset,
attractive head & ears, moved & showed well. Appealed a lot. PGB (2) 1 Kinton's
Woodthorpe Playin For Thyme, very pleasing quality grey, good head, eye &
ears, nice neck, shoulders, topline & tailset, moved out well, showed
well. Needs a little more coat. LB (5) 1 Inett's Carradine
Come On Irene, in lovely coat, typical head, good bone, very good
hindquarters, excellent tail. Topline let her down in the challenge; 2
Miller's Cornton Reay, feminine grey made on nice lines, pleasing head &
expression. Not the fluidity in movement of 1 but a nice typical Cairn. OB (7) 1 Cameron's Ch
Stryveling Sweet Caroline, & sweet she is, delightful, feminine but
positive red, everything to like & has quality, very well balanced, good
head & expression, good neck, shoulders, topline & tail carriage,
moved & showed well. Fully deserved her BIS; 2 Kinton's Woodthorpe Maybe
This Thyme, another I have always admired, full sister to the PG winner but
has that little extra which earned her the RCC here & then RBIS. Feminine
grey, good head, eyes & ears, good outline & tail, well balanced with
nice front & hindquarters, moved & showed well; 3 Clarke's Conundrum
Sweeter For Me for Lentrica. BB (1) 1 T Bonnie Lass. FERELITH
