The South Wales & West of England Cairn terrier Club Championship
Show, Saturday 20th October 2012, Swindon, Wiltshire. Thank you to everyone involved, especially my two hardworking
stewards, I enjoyed my day. Its five years since I last judged at this level
& I wish I could say that quality has improved, but in the dog classes it
was sadly lacking. On the plus side, although I had a couple of questionable mouths,
teeth were in the main, large & bites good. Some otherwise good exhibits were lacking in body condition & I didn’t
care for the over sculpted presentation of some, with almost shaved necks
& toplines. I found it very un-Cairn like. Also, some could have been
cleaner ! However, I had some very pleasing youngsters of both sexes & a
couple of the bitch classes were closely contested, making my decisions far
from easy. Sp Veteran Dog. 1 1st.Thompson`s Su.Ch. Castleline Jackard. 8yrs Grey Brindle with a nice head & full set of teeth. Good length of neck & clean shoulder, firm condition, short of coat, enjoying his day out. Sp. Veteran D. or B. 3 (1) absent 1st.Dolan`s Glenrood Magic Pipit Nearly 14 yrs wh. Bitch in great coat & condition for her age.
Good head & teeth, moved out very well, enjoying herself. 2nd. Moseley`s Spawyche Elizabethan Pearl 11yrs cr. Bitch, very showy & also enjoying her day out. Just
preferred the head & coat condition of one, but both are a credit to
their owners. M.P.D. 2 (1) absent 1st. Catto`s Birselaw The Thrill Of It All I think when he matures he will be a thrilling dog ! Up to size wh.br. Good topline & tailset, good head, big teeth. He
moved out well with strong hindquarters for his age, but needs to firm up in
shoulder as yet. He had a good length of leg & presented a clean outline. I seriously considered him for the RCC. BPIS. P.D. 3 1st.Shannon & Storr
Brenndarcy Borgen Wh. Not a big boy but well made with correct balance, good textured
coat. He moved well on good legs & feet. Promising. 2nd. Bateman & Gompels Carradine Terry`s Tipple. Wh. Br. Larger than one, good mouth with large teeth. Moved out well in profile, but a bit close front & back. His tail
carriage spoilt his outline. 3rd. Waugh`s Tribbannon War Dance. J.D 0 entries M.D. 0 entries N.D. 0 entries U.D. 1 1st Bradshaw & Shannon Newfield Harvest Moon Over
Brenndarcy 13mnth r.br. With nice head & expression., good large teeth, well
presented coat of good texture. Moved out well, but needs to firm up in
topline as yet. I found him a bit long in the loin & combined with a
slightly low tail set, spoilt the balance of him. P.G.D. 5 1st Byrne & Inett`s Carradine Brian The Lion Gr. Br. Nice head & expression, good length of neck & layback
of shoulder, he moved out well & was very showy, but he needed to be
shorter in the back for correct balance. 2nd. Lamb & Saltmarsh Birselaw Fable ShCm Gr.br. Well up to size, he had a well made head , was in good coat
& showy. A bit stuffy in neck & needs to step out more on the move. 3rd.Morley`s Kedvaiy Locamotion. L.D. 10(1) absent 1st. Roberts Cannwood Cut Above. Cream, good head & reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Good
length of leg & body proportions which made for a well balanced outline.
In good jacket he made an attractive picture. Steps out well, but needs to
tighten up all round, still has some maturing to do to come to his best. RCC. 2nd. Parker Tucker`s Uniquecottage Raleigh. Masculine gr.br, he was well constructed which made for a balanced
outline. Liked his size & type, he moved & showed well, although he was more mature , I preferred the head
of one. 3rd. Peers Tweedisle Sea Scout. O.D. 6 (2) absent 1st . Felter`s & Rumens Ch. Landbuck Tillisch Red with a lovely head, presented in good coat & condition , he
was very nice to go over on the table & didn`t disappoint when moving. I would have liked to see him go on a looser lead & ‘carry’
himself a bit more naturally, but I couldn’t deny his many virtues which I
see he is passing on; his daughter was my best puppy bitch. C.C. res BIS. 2nd. Inett & Bambridge. Ch. Carradine Crackaway Jack Dk. Br. With a good, masculine head, good neck & shoulder, legs
& feet. In correct coat, he moved & showed very well, just a bit long in

the youngsters with her good movement. Gr.br. In super coat & condition,
always showy,I like her attitude. 2nd. Dolan`s Glenrood Cascade This is the one the judge would like to take home ! She might have won
the class if I could have seen her move properly ! Really full of herself,
lovely head, in good coat, having a great day out ! 3rd. McIntyre`s Beanoak Snug in the Blanket M.P.B. 5 (1) absent 1st. Hewitt`s Littleacorn Aliye Most attractive copper br. Sweet head, good stop, lovely expression. Well made which was reflected in her movement, showed with confidence,

leg & overall proportions. Feminine head with good stop, she was quite a
live wire, but moved well when she settled. Hope she doesn’t grow on too
much, liked her a lot. Best B.P.B. 2nd. Petts Doonrae Lexicon of Love Another very promising youngster who pushed one very hard. Gr.br with a sweet head, correct make & shape , moved & showed
