THREE COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW Sunday 10 June 2012 I
would like to thank The Committee of The Three Counties Show for inviting me
to judge the cairns at this year’s show. Having arrived at the show earlier
in the week and witnessed the inclement weather, including high winds, I was
not surprised judging was scheduled in the sheds since the Three Counties
Society did not want the ground ruined for the later Agricultural Show.
However, the day itself turned quite sunny and the hard ring surface provided
a good insight to movement. The
quality of the bitch classes was generally higher than the dogs, But the top
winners deserved their placings. Conformation was good in profile and heads
on top exhibits were pleasing and toplines level in most cases. However,
movement in some cases was not up to scratch, because of upright front and
rear limbs leading to lack of drive and a short stilted action. In some
classes I wish I had had more top
cards as some exhibits missed out on very close decisions. MPD
(2, 0 abs) 1. Bradshaw
and Shannon’s Newfield Harvest Moon over Brenndarcy 8 mth
Wheaten Brindle. Well put together boy with masculine head and level topline
, strong rear quarters. Moved straight both fore and aft and covered the ring
effortlessly. BP. 2.
Bateman and Gompel’s Carradine Terries Tipple, 6 mth Wheaten with dk. points.
Slightly heavier in build than 1. Gave another good performance, but was just
beaten by 1 on balance and movement. PD (2.
0abs) 1. Burgin’s
Noncom Hugo First. 11 mth red brindle with dk points. At
present a large lad. Well built with a masculine head and good set of teeth.
Strong front and rear quarters leading to good movement from side and to and away. 2.
Goldfinch’s Malmay Calling time at
Kanawa. 11 mth grey brindle. Smaller
example than 1 with lighter boned structure, but well balanced outline. Was a
little wayward on movement today and so lost out to 1. JD (2,
0abs) 1.
Robert’s Cannwood Cut Above, Wheaten. A well
proportioned, nicely balanced dog. Good head and nice set of teeth. Good
length of neck, level topline with correct tailset. Good angulation both in
front and rear quarters. Moved freely around the ring. Will watch this one
with interest. 2.
Petts and Shannon’s Geordie Boy, red brindle. A
pleasing outline, with nothing to dislike, but was up against tough
opposition today and it was a close run decision between 1 and 2. PGD
(7, 2abs) 1
.Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Jumbuck, Wheaten with dk. points. A well
structured dog and a nice size for me. Masculine head on a good length of
neck and good shoulder placement. Moved around the ring drive and showed
well. 2.
Byrne and Inett’s Carradine Brian The Lion, light grey brindle. A well
balanced outline from the side. Well muscled in fore and rear quarters, but
not so free flowing in movement as 1 today. 3.
Peer’s Tweedisle Sea Scout. LD (5,
0abs) 1.
Confue’s, Anjofra Im Not Going dk. grey brindle. A good
all round balanced dog with a masculine head. Good teeth and eyes, level
topline and correct tailset. Has bodied up and matured well in time. Moved
freely in the ring and showed well. RDCC. 2.
Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Raleigh Dk. brindle. Slightly
shorter in leg than 1, but still has a good profile and a well structured
body. Moved and showed well and I liked him very much, but was unfortunate to
meet 1 today. 3.
Thompson’s Castleline Bang on Time. OD (3,
1abs) 1.
Felter’s and Rumen’s Ch. Landbuck Tillisch, red with dk. Points. Lovely
balanced dog with a good head. Good
front with well placed bone structure, level topline and correct tailset.
Moved freely around the ring with drive. Straight movement both front and
rear. Showed well and deserved his DCC and BOB. 2.
Smith’s Ch. Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, grey brindle. Another
good example of the breed, balanced and sound in body. A little heavier than
1 and was beaten into second place on movement. MPB.
(6, 0abs) 1.
Petts Doonrae Lexicon of Love, 6mth
wheaten brindle with dk. Points. I
liked this girl as soon as she stepped in the ring and was not disappointed
when going over her. She has a lovely structure in front and rear limbs with
a level topline . She moved freely around the ring and had presence. She will
further improve as she develops her coat and matures and I will follow her
progress with interest. 2.
Melia’s Carradine Minnies Magic 7mth
Wheaten with dk.points. Another
lovely puppy of well balanced proportions. Moved straight front and rear. A
free mover round the ring and showed herself to full advantage. 3.
Paten and Inett’s Carradine Magic Penny. PB.
(5, 2abs). 1. Peer’s
Tweedisle Paper Moon, 9 mths dk. Brindle. A well
balanced girl with feminine head, good length of neck, level topline and
correct tailset. A little distracted at times on the move but won her class
on movement. 2.
Burgin’s Noncom Solitaire 11 mths red brindle. Another
with a well balanced outline and sound structure. Her coat at this stage not
quite up to scratch and less lively than 1, but moved and showed steadily. 3.
Tutching’s Crowneast Midsomer Florey. JB.
(2, 2 abs ). PGB
(15, 2abs). A
lovely collection of bitches and it was a shame one had to withdraw due to
being spooked during judging. My decisions were mainly based on quality of
movement and some exhibits were poor movers. 1.
Inett’s Carradine Time To Shine, dk. Brindle. A well
balanced bitch with ideal proportions. Feminine head, level topline and good
tailset. Good angulation in both front and rear quarters leading to free
movement around the ring and earned her placing. 2.
Waugh and Carlton-Smith’s Tribannon Guardian Angel, red brindle with a feminine
expression. A well constructed girl presenting a pleasing outline. Moved and
showed well. I would have liked to have seen a little more body. A close
decision between 1 and 2. 3.
Dolans Castleline Peggy Sue. LB.
(6, 1abs). A delightful class. Very close decision. 1.
Yates and Johnsons Pendley Playaway. Grey brindle. A
shade smaller than some, but still a well balanced and well constructed girl.
Feminine head, level topline and sound body. Moved true and freely from side,
front and rear. Showed well. RBCC 2.
Smith’s Anjofra Plum Tart. Dk. Brindle. Another
sound, well structured balanced bitch who was on her best behaviour today.
She showed herself to advantage and moved around the ring freely and
steadily. Deserved her placing. 3.
Waugh’s Tribannon in The Limelight. OB.
(8, 3abs). A first rate set of Exhibits placed on quality of movement. 1.
Dolan’s Ch. Glenrood Masqerade, Wheaten brindle. A very
feminine bitch with an excellent balanced outline. A good head with a good
reach of neck flowing into level topline. Well constructed front and rear
quarters. She moved beautifully around the ring and showed herself to
perfection. I liked her very much and she deserved her BCC award. 2.
Owen’s Honeyhall Handful at Caldwall. Dk. Brindle. Another
well proportion example of the breed. Sound in structure. Feminine head and level
topline. Moved and showed well and was just beaten for top honours in
movement. 3.
Inett’s Carradine Come On Irene. Judge
