CAIRN JUDGE
WELSH KC 12 Cairn
Terriers MPD (3) 1 Bateman
& Gomples’ Carradine Terries Tipple, by far the most mature &
finished looking. Nice head, all male in attitude, ears could be higher set,
good eyes & really good mouth. Lovely weighted bonedd excellent spring
& depth of rib, coat is harsh. Very settled on the move. Hope he doesn’t
grow on; 2 Waugh’s
Tribannon War Dance, very raw little wheaten chap, all legs & wings.
Pleasing head, very dark eyes, ears could be smaller to advantage. Harsh
textured coat, moved out with a smart step; 3 Keeves’ Seveek Dare To Be Red. PD, JD & GD
(0). PGD (4) 1 Keeves
& Bennett’s Seveek Who Dares Wins, big enough, best head, eyes &
expression, enough spring of rib, ample reach in neck & pleasing outline.
Covers the ground with an easy stride in profile, needs to be firmer in hock
when going away; 2 Gold’s Vale
of Atholl’s Shaggy Grey Buck, wheaten of nice size, in excellent coat, good
dark eyes of good size, so alive in expression. Ears could be neater & he
didn’t really step out in action as freely as 1. LD (4) 1 RCC,
Cameron’s Stryveling Rocket Man, won here on the quality of his head &
expression, well boned, sufficient spring of rib & length of leg giving
him an attractive outline. In very good coat, moved out soundly albeit
without quite as much oomph & drive as the CC winner; 2 Soper’s
Elitecharm Dream Boy, more on the leg than Rocket Man & I felt his
expression was just a little plainer. Has a lovely neck, firm backline, well
set & carried tail, covered the ground better in profile. Bit of a fidget
& gave his handler a hard time of it; 3 Peers’
Tweedisle Sea Scout. OD (2) 1 CC &
BOB, King & Leighton’s Ch Carradine Night Listener at Harkinleigh, very
dark brindle with an eyecatching outline, using that good neck to best
advantage. Head handles so well, lovely eyes & an almost wicked
expression from well shaped & coloured eyes. So well ribbed, firm in
backline, very well set & carried tail & his coat was spot on. Raring
to go he strode around the ring with a panache & style & I felt was a
worthy BOB winner; 2 E Dream
Boy. MPB (5) 1 BP, Yates
& Johnson’s Pendley Hester, br/wheaten poppet who stormed into the ring
with all the self belief & sass in the world. She present a lovely
outline, head held high, neat ears up & eyes sparkling with self belief.
In really good coat, well ribbed, stands on well boned legs & once she
gets into her stride really moves out; 2 Melia’s
Carradine Minnies Image, rather a nice wheaten puppy but not the length of
leg of 1 so not quite her appeal in balance. I liked her head, good width in
skull, well defined stop & good jaw width. In lovely coat, stepped out
with a reasonable stride & was sound; 3 Keeves’
Seveek I Dreamed A Dream. PB (3) 1 Coates’
Penticharm Starlight, what a stylish & very promising youngster this is.
Wheaten with black points, really good head, neat ears, big teeth & a
real show off. Tends to stand overlong & this detracts from the appeal of
her balance. On the move she gets a little excited & over reaches, but
this could well be a phase & when she settles to the job in hand, could
finish up extremely well; 2 Osborn’s
Tweslam Thistle Be Magic, another who I found attractive in repose. Very nice
head pattern, beautiful neck, well laid shoulders & well weighted bone.
Just needs to fill out a bit more in rib. On the move she is lithe &
active with a purposeful stride; 3 Peers’
Tweedisle Party Girl. JB (3) 1 Inett,
Harrison, King & Leighton’s Carradine I Am Florence with Harkinleigh,
very stylish & sassy bitch, sadly out of coat but it shows how nicely
constructed she is. Very good head which is well carried, level backed,
enough width in hindquarters, correct tail set & carriage, moved around
the ring with such a sense of purpose; 2 Tutchings’
Crowneast Midsomer Florey, better coated than 1. Very feminine in head, nice
eyes for shape, colour & expression, good length of neck, so well ribbed.
Never really showed any zest going around the ring; 3 Soper’s
Elitecharm Diamond Girl. NB (2) 1 Melia’s
Roachdee Treacle Bon Bon, I admired the head of this well coated bitch. Such
good eyes & ears combine to give a winning expression. Her outline is
good, ample ribbing & very good tail. Moves somewhat wide in front &
was another which never really extended herself too much in profile; 2 Peers’
Tweedisle Paper Moon, much less finished than 1 & her head is still
developing. Well bodied with good hind angulation & well set tail. In
good coat, she just doesn’t have the necessary co-ordination as yet on the
move so slackens off in topline. GB (3) 1 Jones’
Strathinver Simply Florrie, immaculately coated & presented wheaten, nice
head, such dark eyes, well set ears, lovely reach of neck. Ribs well sprung
& I am sure when she can be persuaded to put her mind to it, she will
look good on the move. Here she was a bit of devil to settle to the job in
hand but gave glimpses of soundness; 2 Usher’s
Stryveling Polly Flinders, smaller, shorter legged bitch with a fair head.
Ears a bit on the wide side. However, so well bodied, excellent ribcage &
in good bloom. A most attentive showgirl just lacking the overall balance of
1. PGB (7) 1 Dolan’s
Castleline Peggy Sue, this one was just full of herself, brisk in action,
going places with drive & so attentive on the stack. I liked her head
quality & that devilish twinkle in her expression. Well ribbed, uses her
neck so well & her outline is so balanced. Sound in action she enhanced
the challenge; 2 Inett,
Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Time To Shine, heaps to like about this
dark brindle bitch, standing she uses herself so well that her outline has
immediate impact. Handling shows she is well bodied, has a decent layback in
shoulders, is well muscled & in good body. Matched 1 in the quality of
her head & expression but was just that little true going away from me,
though the profile movement was impressive; 3
Stephinson’s Twohoots Martha. LB (7) 1 CC,
Cameron’s Stryveling Sweet Caroline, what a lovely example of the breed she
is. Scores heavily in head & expression, devoid of exaggeration anywhere,
in excellent jacket & her construction is so balanced with good angles
both ends. At her best on the move, showing reach & drive & her front
action when fore viewed was the best of the day. Has a lovely head, never let
up showing & so earned the top award; 2 Yates &
Hohnson’s Pendley Playaway, another top quality bitch who will have many
admirers. She was on the tiptoe of expectation throughout & was lovely to
handle. Delightfully headed, wicked expression, good neck & really well
bodied. Spotless in presentation she really does motor around the ring. I
called her back to challenge for the RCC but she was somewhat rushed in &
never really settled as well as the OB winner. Could finish very well; 3 Inett’s
Carradine Come On Irene. OB (10) The best
class of the day with some quality bitches on view. 1 RCC,
Dolan’s Ch Glenrood Masquerade, what a lovely type & in wonderful body
& coat, has an air of class, has style in abundance, totally feminine yet
has good substance, showed her socks off, her head & expression will always
attract admiration. Went around the ring with a balanced, even stride with
good driving hocks. Ran the CC winner very close. I just edged Caroline that
fraction better coming towards me, a pleasure to judge such a lovely bitch; 2 Hughes
& Hooton’s Gyncairn Royal Velvet at Penticharm, another top class bitch
of lovely make & shape. Wonderful on the move, so sound & with a
verve & drive not too often seen. Head handles so well, lovely mouth
& teeth, good stop & well set ears. I finally opted for what I
considered to be the better eye & expression of Masquerade, but would be
un-surprised if this one goes on to her title; 3 Waugh &
Carlton Smith’s Tribannon Guardian Angel. ALBERT WIGHT |
