BORDER UNION AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW SATURDAY 15 JUNE 2013 JUDGE MR ALAN STEPHINSON (TWOHOOTS) CAIRN TERRIERS. It was very good to be back in the ring after an enforced absence of 3 years and I would first of all to thank The Committee of the above for inviting me and also the exhibitors for giving me such a good entry of 38 Cairns. Most had to travel a considerable way and I am most grateful. The day itself started well weather wise, but unfortunately soon deteriorated into squalls and heavy rain showers. Before our given start time I decided it would be prudent to move under cover. Unfortunately the indoor ring had been stripped of its original table and chairs so a search had to be made for these and a score board, these were found eventually and we were just about ready to start on time when we were invaded by soggy but friendly large dogs. A nearby judge in an outside ring had also decided to come inside and someone had advised his exhibitors, Irish Wolf Hounds, that our ring was their indoor ring. Confusion arose until a Senior Steward confirmed we were correct and moved on the Hounds, but not before they had naturally left their perfume to put it mildly. Some of our Cairns never really recovered from that and as you will imagine were not able to walk without sniffing the ground. As both my Steward and me were on our first championship show it was an entertaining and educational session. The lady was very good and most helpful. When we at last started I was very pleased with the quality shown as my previous judging I found teeth not brilliant and the odd dirty bottom, but certainly not this time. The only point I would make would to ask Societies to carry on with grooming advice, especially legs and feet. RESULTS. Class 447 Puppy Dog 1 Entry 1)
Cloverbrook Top Of The Bill at Caernwil (Carter) Lively wheaten pup who went well, as would be expected needs match practice .Correct front head and top line. Class 448 Junior Dog 3 Entries 1)
Birselaw The Thrill Of It All (Catto) RDCC Impressive young Dog who no doubt will be another success story for these kennels. Good top line , head, and moved well. 2)Honeyhall Headboy (Shaw) Unlucky on day to be second, skittled a little on day and probably not shown off to his best because of the mentioned ring invaders, but all the signs are there of a quality exhibitor. 3)Coreton Coulter (Miller) Class 450 P.G.Dog. 2 Entries 1)
Eglish Willies Wee Man with Essdeef (Fortune) Grey Brindle, well-muscled ,full jacket, moved steadily and soundly. 2)
Brenndarcy Borgen (Shannon and Storr) Wheaten, Good profile, a little light still but with exercise will muscle up Class 451 Limit Dog 4 Entries 1)Renshaw There And Back Again( Lamb and Saltmarsh) Grey Brindle, Strong powerful dog ,good stature and went well . 2)Auchenkyle Superman Stan at Drayem (Buchan) Grey Brindle,Solid workmanlike dog who unfortunately was not happy with surroundings and would not show to his best. On another day and venue will do well. Class 452 Open Dog 3 Entries 1)CH.Landbuck Tillisch (Felters and Rumens) DCC and BOB Solid red, moved as if he owned the ring. Totally unfazed by any external influences. Good Head, Stance, Top line, was impressed by his overall bearing as the dominant male of the species. 2)CH.Roscovale Razzle Dazzle.(Smith) Very well presented dog, good proportions, well shaped head, ears set right, good top line and moved well but not quite his day. Again could have been put off by ring invaders Bitch Classes. Class 453 Puppy Bitch 3 Entries 1)
Tweslam Mystery of Magic
(Osborne) Delightful young wheaten girl with proportions already right, good head, shoulders and top line. Full of enthusiasm as should be expected at that age, looking forward to monitoring her progress. 2)Sybster Sanderoma (Berrecloth) Another young wheaten girl with a lot going for her. Excellent proportions and could easily have been first on another day. 3)Brendarrcy Golden Girl. Class 454 Junior Bitch 1 Entry 1)
Landbuck Xanthe (Felters and Rumens) Lively very Pretty little lady, well proportioned, good head, shoulders and top line, another that should be worth watching in the future. Class 455 Novice Bitch 1 Entry 1)
Birslaw Blithe Spirit (Bowness) Attractive wheaten bitch with good top line, seemed to glide around the ring, well proportioned. Class 456 Post Graduate Bitch 9 Entries 1)
Tweslam Thistle be Magic (Osborne) Very well presented brindle bitch, good proportions, head just right and am sure has a very bright future, unfortunate on day to come up against seasoned champions who just had the edge. Her day will come. 2) Lentrica Sweet Sensation (Clarke) Good looking bitch who was possibly not at her best in her movement but well presented, as always from this Kennel, possibly upset by conditions. 3)Brenndarcy Bit of Bother
Class 457 Limit Bitch 5 Entries 1)Anjofra Plum Tart at Roscovale (Smith) RBCC Solid muscled, well presented and went very well.Good top line and well proportioned, not quite her day. 2)Stryveling Polly Flinders (Usher) Solid performer from this Kennel, not quite up to the standards of others on this day. 3)Brenndarcy Maid In Heaven Class 458 Open Bitch 1)CH Woodthorpe Maybe This Time (Kinton) A very good solid performance from a well proportioned Bitch, Went like a steam engine, head and ear settings just right, good topline, shoulders. On day deservedly BCC. 2)Conundrum Sweeter For Me For Lentrica Jw Shcm(Clarke) An excellent example of breed standard, she has done much and I hope will continue to do so. 3)
Tweslam Winter Magic (Osborne) Thoroughly enjoyed my day, Thanks to all, especially my Lady Steward for keeping me right, Alan Stephinson (Twohoots)
