Friday
September 13th, I never knew there were so many triskaidekaphobics
in our breed!
Joking
apart, I cannot say I wasn’t disappointed with my low entry. But on the day I
was pleased and relieved that I had some good quality Cairns to go over and
that I had some difficult decisions to make. I was also pleased to see folks
who had travelled from Scotland as well as the South, so a big thank you to
all my exhibitors. I would also like to thank my very efficient stewards and
Darlington Dog Show Society for asking me to judge also for finding such a
lovely new venue, those all weather rings adjacent to the benching are definitely
the way to go for all dog shows. A shame we lose tickets in 2015.
VD (2,1a)
1st Lynch’s Fieldron Call My Bluff At Linacrelads. 7 year old wheaten full of himself
today. Good coat, lovely head and expression. Needs to lose a little weight.
MPD (2 ,0a)
Two pups of
very different types and stages of development.
1st Percy’s Winetta Sir Ivor. A well balanced alert 8 month
old wheaten brindle. Good reach of neck, correct ear set and dentition.
Plenty of forechest, standing well forward, tail set bang on. Still a baby so
sometimes movement a little wayward but moved well fore and aft when settled.
BPIB
2nd
Miller’s Cornton's Starr Of Hope. Larger all round wheaten, another wayward young boy not
behaving in the smelly grass so it was difficult to asses his movement. Uses
his tail well, shown in full coat.
PD (2,0a)
1st Saich's Lindcoly I Believe I Can Fly. Bright red 11month
old boy shown in short coat but good quality coming through. Moved ok, well
balanced, desirable dark points giving that typy Cairn expression. Good
forechest. Liked him.
2nd
Carter’s Cloverbrook Top Of The Bill At Carernwil . Lovely headed 11 month cream boy of
good size, not as steady on the move as 1. Coat not of a good texture making
him look larger than he is. Would prefer a better tail set as this spoils his
overall appearance.
JD (4,1a)
1st Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight . Very attractive all male
18 month old wheaten brindle boy. Moved with drive, love his side action.
Dark ears set correctly, good stop, correct mouth with large teeth. In good
coat and body condition. Handled & shown well.
2nd Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Bytheway . Wheaten
brindle 15 months, smaller type and not as showy as 1. But well balanced with
a good coat, super side gait. Attractive head and expression. If only he had
a smidgeon of his litter sisters personality.
3rd Drew’s Tycadno Thriller At L'Artiste
PGD (2,0a)
1st Miller’s Cornton Coulter. Light red brindle, masculine,
balanced, won this class on movement.
2nd Saich's Lindcoly Dark Knight . Grey brindle smaller all
round than 1. Looks well when stood.
LD (5,0a)
All my eggs
in one basket! Spoilt for choice. A lovely class of good Cairns.
1st Percy’s Winetta Stand And Deliver, Grey brindle, on top
form today, not over done in any way. Beautiful head and expression, when
moving he owned the ring, moved with drive, good head , correct mouth with
large teeth, definite stop, correct earset. A picture standing. Love his
overall balance, pleased to award DCC & BOB
2nd Catto’s Birselaw The Thrill Of It All. Super headed
wheaten brindle shown in a full coat of harsh texture. Not a large dog but
well constructed with good bone and in tip top condition. Steady mover.
3rd Lamb & Saltmarsh’s
Renshaw There And Back Again Sh.Cm
OD(1,0a)
1st
Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable Sh.Chm . Dark brindle who for me excels in
head, good size, all round male. Moved and showed well for is handler today.
Coat and body in good condition. A nice honest Cairn.
VB (1,0a)
1st Harland’s Winetta Anticipation At Thackeston , Another veteran who loves the show
ring. In good coat, slighlty overweight but not enough to spoil her steady
movement. Good mouth and plenty of forechest.
MPB
(1,0a)
1st Carter’s Lentrica Secret Passion At Carernwil . Cute Wh brindle baby, only 6months
and 3 days but full of confidence. nice outline, tail never flagged, moved
steadily, a little on the petite side but not flimsy. No coat at present but
hopefully this will come through to finish the picture. BPB
PB(2,0a)
1st Ball’s Tweslam Jazzing It Up At Calamondin . Love this 11month old cream pup,
she moves well with drive, shown in
full coat of good condition. A nice size, good forechest and reach of neck. Only lost out to MPB on
ring presence.
2nd Saich's Lindcoly Golden Trouble . 10 month old in need
of a new coat. Bit of a handful on the table but checked mouth ok and moved
ok when steady.
JB (1,0a)
1st Felters & Rumens’ Landbuck Xanthe . Cream with those
desirable dark points. What can I say that does this beautiful Cairn with the
best of heads justice? Coat texture and condition, excellent, when she stands
(for an instant) she is stunning. To go over her is a treat, so well made and
balanced in every place. Her tail that never stops wagging is set well on.
Topline not needing a spirit level. At only 15 months she is still an unruly
teenager and I for one cannot wait for her to focus on the job in hand. RBCC
PGB
(1,0a)
1st Keeves’ Seveek Living The Dream Jw Sh.Cm . Another super young bitch, a coarse
red coat of good condition, with dark ears, good forechest, stands well, her
side movement is lovely to watch as she effortlessly glides around the ring.
Good to go over, correct mouth. I would prefer more head furnishings to
complete the picture.
LB (4,2a) Two lovely bitches
1st Hewitt’s Littleacorn Stay In Touch. This grey brindle
ultra feminine bitch oozes quality. I love her make and shape, super head
with a good mouth, correct earset, good stop & dark eyes. Coat of good
texture and condition. Handled, presented and shown well. She won this
difficult class on movement. I was pleased to award her the BCC.
2nd Percy’s Winetta Miss Independent. Red brindle of similar
proportions to one. Good head and expression. As ever from this kennel put
down to perfection. Level topline, correct tailset, good bone and
confirmation. Moved well when settled.
OB (1,0a)
1st Byrne’s Little Miss Tonka.
Wheaten with dark points. Shown as ever in tip top condition. She
has that beautiful varminty expression. So well made and balanced, good
mouth, forechest, topline, correct coat of good texture, nothing overdone.
Moves well, stands and shows, a super show girl.
