Cairn Terriers

A very nice entry of 95 dogs & only one absentee among the males, most unusual these days. I found the lower dog classes very difficult& a little disappointing but OD more than made up for it with 10 contenders &  close decisions. The bitches were much better, more even for type, size& quality. I had to use a whole packet of wipes as some were shown dirty – natural appearance yes but sticky, smelly coats no, not in my book.

Lovely temperaments throughout, Cairns like to participate being bright & inquisitive & I never have much trouble getting them to respond.

Some are getting far too big though & that needs watching.

MPD (1) 1 Mears’ Glenmear Looks Like Fun Gethlee, 7½ months, well up to size, masculine head, dark expressive eyes, fit & well conditioned, happy relaxed showman. Still has a lot of puppy coat & needs to settle in movement.

PD (4) 1 Day’s Cherrycrack Ludo at Trekhilli, 11 months, son of CC winner, excellent profile movement, good coat texture, well bodied, high spirited showman. Well handled & conditioned, dark eyes. Reluctant to use his ears. Well proportioned, up to size. BP;

2 Rouillon Stephanie’s Hummer De La Terrardiere, 11 months, personality plus, eyes full of expression. Could move with a bit more reach in front. Good coat & body, showed non-stop. Front  needs to strengthen;

3 Robets’ Cannwood Royal Appointment.

JD (6) 1 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Borgen, 15 months wheaten, quality head, good body & bone, moved& showed quite well, well fitting coat, well set & carried tail;

2 Currie’s Stirlingview Stunning, 18 months, serious showman, good bone, legs& feet, keen expression, excellent coat texture, moved OK, well handled. Doesn’t want to carry any more weight;

3 Pearson’s Cloverbrook Special Effect.

ND (4) 1 C Special Effect, attractive head, keen expression, good body, coat & condition. Failed a little in topline. Moved & showed OK;

2 Shopland’s Hjohoo’s A Kind Hjo Can’t Find at Cherrycrack, just 12 months, harsh jacket, showed well, good body, looked well from the side going round. Ears a bite wide set when not fully focused;

3 Coffell’s Cloverbrook Crusader at Ometto.

GD (4) 1 Burgin’s Noncom Hugo First, splendid showman, in good form, typical head, dark intelligent eyes, very good coat, firm body, well muscled, moved well. Comfortable winner;

2 Coffell’s Ometto I Am The One And Only, young looking, attractive head, excellent pigment, well proportioned, moved & showed OK. Not using his tail, needs time;

3 Fortune’s Eglish Spitting Image with Essdeeeff.

PGD (3) 1 Fortune’s Eglish Willies Wee Man with Essdeeeff, no more weight please like his brother who was 3rd in GD. Masculine head, good ribcage & depth of body, showed steadily. Coat coming in;

2 Brennan’s Milindack What News Watson, failed in topline to 1 & not putting all in on the move. Pleasing head, dark eyes. Coat could have been better presented. Feeling warm under the lights.

LD (7) 1 Keeves & Bennett’s Seveek Who Dares Wins, quality Cairn of good type, on the ball & responding well to his handler, harsh jacket, fit body, most attractive head, keen intelligent expression, moved& showed with animation. Best so far;

2 Byrne & Inett’s Carradine Brian The Lion, masculine, well coated young man, serious expression, lovely eyes, good feet, held topline on the move, at one with handler;

3 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again.

OD (10) Lovely class. 1 Shopland’s Ch Cherrycrack Blackadder, did not put a foot wrong, sound, it & well muscled male, absolutely in his prime. Lovely head & expression, well placed shoulders, good topline & tailset, well fitting jacket, strong body, very good mover. CC & BOB;

2 Felters & Rumens’ Ch Landbuck Tillisch, when they first went round I thought this could be my winner. Good to go over, attractive head & eyes, well proportioned, great coat & condition, moved well, strong quarters, moved well. I took too long judging this class & Tillisch lost a bit of his sparkle at the end. RCC;

3 Roberts’ Cannwood Cut Above.

MPB (5) 1 Berrecloth’s Sybster Sanderoma, 7 months easy winner I thought. Pretty head, well pigmented, good coat, showed with confidence for one so young, already has a good topline. Moving rather close behind. BPB;

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Miss Emilea, just 6 months, enjoying herself & moved well when she concentrated. Feminine head, good coat & body;

3 Smith’s Gethlee Star Appeal.

PB (2) 1 Robinson’s Cruzo Chantelle, 9 months, much more forward than her litter brother in PD. Pleasing head & expression, good coat texture, clean & well presented, moved & showed steadily, good feet;

2 Saich’s Lindcoly Read All About It, 9 months, still got her puppy coat. Lovely dark eyes. Reluctant to use her ears. Charming personality, sympathetically handled. Failed in front movement.

JB (12) 1 Petts’ Doonrae Lexicon Of Love, won a very good class. 16 months, real eyecatcher who performed well throughout. Broad skull, very correct in head & expression, coat just right, firm body & topline. I liked her size & type, moved well, consistent showgirl. Gave the CC winner a good run for her money & was not far behind. Bright prospect, well handled. RCC;

2 Keeves’ Seveek Living The Dream, 14 months, very smart red, sired by my RCC winner. Good head & eyes, well fitting jacket, good jacket, showy & went well. Not the front of 1;

3 Patten & Inett’s Carradine Magic Penny.

NB (4) 1 Rouillon Stephanie’s Guess De Ch’Timi Cairn And Co, moved & showed with style & animation, attractive head, keen expression, fit body, good coat & condition, well handled;

2 Confue’s Anjofra Mymble, nice young bitch, just 12 months & needs a bit of time to mature. Typical head, good outline & body, moved OK;

3 Peers’ Tweedisle Party Girl.

GB (4) 1 Osborn’s Tweslam Thistle Be Magic, smart youngster, made a good account of herself, showy & focused on the job, dark eyes, pleasing head, excellent coat texture, moved well;

2 Bateman & Inett’s Carradine In Love With Amy, good head & eyes, excellent coat, body & quarters, well handled & conditioned. Tail a little low set which showed up in profile movement;

3 Keeves’ Seveek I Dreamed A Dream.

PGB (9) 1 Burgin’s Noncom Solitaire, litter sister to GD winner, quality bitch, doesn’t want to carry any more weight but light on her feet & moved with ease. Pleasing head, keen expression, steady showgirl, good coat, well handled & conditioned;

2 Peers’ Tweedisle Paper Moon, gr/br of excellent type & size, feminine head, good topline & coat texture, moved & showed well;

3 Harrison’s Carradine Eva Either.

LB (11) 1 Dolan’s Castleline Peggy Sue, most appealing wheaten, good head, excellent pigment, dark expressive eyes, showed non stop, good outline, body & overall proportions, went well;

2 Peers & Onstad’s Pinetop Joacasta from Scotch Broom, gr/br, attractive head, good expression, excellent ribcage, harsh jacket, well handled, moved OK. Could be just a little more animated;

3 Bennett’s Maximal Dancing On The Moon.

OB (12) Very good class with plenty of talent.

1 Waugh & Carlton-Smith’s Ch Tribannon Guardian Angel, well balanced & lovely quality, most attractive head, intelligent expression & didn’t miss a trick. Confident showgirl, sound mover, good topline & tailset, well muscled quarters, no exaggerations, just a good honest typy Cairn. CC;

2 Clarke’s Conundrum Sweeter For Me for Lentrica, 6 years, lovely head, dark eyes, well carried ears, splendid jacket, firm body, great showgirl who never stopped trying. Trotted her stuff with great composure;

3 Dolan’s Ch Glenrood Masqerade.
