Scottish
Breeds Championship Dog Show 30th
March 2013 Cairn
Terriers - Judge’s Report This
was always going to be a poignant appointment and I was pleased to see the Scottish
Breeds Canine Club pay due respect to Fiona Cameron before the start of
judging. The
entry was not large and of quite mixed quality. On the positive side
temperaments and showmanship was excellent as were fronts and length of neck
in most exhibits together with excellent hard muscle tone. Of concern were
mouths with jumbled small teeth some with incorrect bites and weak jaws.
Surprisingly I found several coats that were not of the quality desired and
whilst I would not say that these coats were soft they were certainly not as
the standard requires ‘harsh but not coarse’. My
BOB is a strong upstanding dog who has lived up to all his earlier promises
and I was delighted to award him his third CC. My bitch CC winner was of a
different type but nonetheless a worthy winner. VD
1 1 Berrecloth’s CH SYBSTER
SPRING TIME ShCM 10 years, lovely head with typical expression, in good
hard condition, presented in short coat to advantage, moved & showed
well, a credit to the breed. MPD

4 1 Catto’s BIRSELAW THE
THRILL OF IT ALL really masculine dog with lovely head, good mouth,
excellent reach of neck into well laid shoulders and best of fronts, his
length of back and leg presented a very balanced picture, coat perhaps not at
it’s best. He is young yet but certainly deserving of the RCC. 2 Bateman & Gompels’ CARRADINE
TERRIES TIPPLE well made dog of
good size, really masculine expression, good bone and everything in
proportion presenting a balanced
picture, as usual presented in high order however I was a little unhappy with
his tail carriage on the day. 3 Shannon & Storrs’ BRENDARCY

3 1 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s BIRSELAW FABLE ShCM up to size well made
dog with good head & expression, he is sometimes proud of his tail and I
have seen him move better 2 Saich’s LINCOLY DARK KNIGHT
Good sort, presented and moved well but somewhat phased by the noise and did
not give his best. 3 Fortune’s EGLISH SPITTING IMAGE
WITH ESSDEEEFF LD
6(1) 1 Percy’s WINETTA STAND AND
DELIVER excellent head and expression he conforms to the standard well
and presented in good coat, positive movement fore and aft, I would like a
bit more of him. 2 Byrne & Inett’s CARRADINE BRIAN
THE LION very smart dog with good bone, appears a bit long cast, would
like more leg to complete a balanced picture. As usual presented in high
order and never stopped showing. 3 Lamb & Saltmarsh’s RENSHAW
THERE AND BACK AGAIN ShCM OD
3 1 Roberts’ CANNWOOD CUT ABOVE I
liked him as a puppy and I like him even more now. He has matured into a fine
specimen, his size and confirmation is as the standard requires and when he
concentrates his showmanship is superb, however occasionally his exuberance
gets the better of him! To me this is
just Cairn character, assertive but not aggressive. He certainly deserved his
third CC & BOB 2 Saich’s LINDCOLY HERE’S DUDLEY Good head, expression and mouth, rather heavier
type than 1 which spoils his balance, movement OK. 3 Buchan’s AUCHINKYLE SUPERMAN STAN

1 1 Berrecloth’s SYBSTER SANDEROMA 7 months very raw baby, lovely outline
with the sweetest feminine head, adequate bone, good quality coat coming,
showed well but time very much on her side BP PB
1 1 Saich’s LINDCOLY READ ALL ABOUT IT
10 months attractive head, moved well when she settled but sadly not
enough of her JB
3 1 Petts’ DOONRAE LEXICON OF LOVE
Lovely bitch with super head, correct front and shoulders, the best of
toplines which she kept on the move, good harsh double coat, moved with
drive, just needs a bit more maturity to worry the best. 2 Bateman & Inetts’ CARRADINE IN
LOVE WITH AMY Slightly lighter frame than 1, lovely feminine
expression, good mouth and moved well enough. 3 Saich’s LINDCOLY FOREVER

8 (1) 1 Percy’s WINETTA UNFORGETABLE
Lovely bitch with adequate bone and well muscled. Attractive head and
expression, very level topline retained on the move, presented in excellent
correct coat and condition. 2 Shaw’s HONEYHALL HEARSAY Well put together with a really super head, she
moved well but sadly persisted in flying her ears today thus ruining the
overall picture. 3 Shannon & Storrs’ BRENDARCY
SNEDRONNINGEN LB
3 1 Harrison’s CARRADINE EVE EITHER Very keen feminine expression, so well put
together with good length of neck into correct front and shoulders, just
about enough substance for me, well balanced she really covered the ground
when she moved, as usual beautifully presented RCC 2 Smith’s ANJOFRA PLUM TART AT
ROCASOVALE Very different type to
1 rather heavier in build. Very alert expression, well muscled, movement good
when she settled. 3 Miller’s CORNTON REAY OB
3 1 Kinton’s WOODTHORPE MAYBE THIS
THYME She really took my eye, wicked expression with good dark eyes,
everything in proportion as it should be, very firm level topline retained
when she moved, she really covered the ground, presented in the best of
coats. Very smart exhibit BCC 2 Templeton’s Ch LARCHLEA CAN’T
REMEMBER Typical of this famous
kennel, super bitch of good size and bone, good head and mouth with big
teeth, reach of neck, length of leg and back giving a very balanced outline.
Movement very positive. Perhaps not in the best of coats today. 3 Byrne’s LITTLE MISS TONKA Frances
