CAIRN TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.

30th MARCH 2014.

I would like to like to thank the CTC committee for inviting me to judge their 81st championship show and for the exhibitors for entering their dogs and allowing me the chance to handle them. I found it sad that there were not many dog pups as they are to be the foundation for future stock. Movement always an issue, this can be a reflection of construction and general type. There is no quick fix for this. Temperaments were excellent throughout. I was pleased with my overall line-ups.

SPECIAL VETERAN DOG OR BITCH (4 entries)

1st- Clarke's CH CONUNDRUM SWEETER FOR ME LENTRICA JW SH CM. Very showy bitch of nearly 8years. Lovely dark grey with good head and typical alert expression. Nicely constructed & very sound on the move. Deserved her Best Veteran.

2nd - Parkin's ROACHDEE MYSTERY OF THE FULL MOON. 7 plus years, harsh coated red dog of heavier type but very sound and free movement. Liked his head, good level back and tail set.

3rd - Smith's CH ROCASOVALE RAZZLE DAZZLE.

SPECIAL VINTAGE DOG OR BITCH (4 entries)

1st-Templeton's CH LARCHLEA REMEMBER REMEMBER. Well presented 10plus years. Most feminine dark show girl. Nicely proportioned and good overall length, still able to maintain nice neck & shoulders.

2nd- Berrecloth's SYBSTER SPRING INTO SUMMER SH CM. Dark grey of 11yrs. Liked her overall size and typical cairn head. Very showy. Won to-day over her litter brother due to movement.

3rd-Berrecloth's CH SYBSTER SPRING TIME SH CM.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (2 entries)

1st- Jamieson's AUCHENCAIRN HIGHLAND STAG. 8mth brindle. Overall of nice size for age and overall length. Good reach of neck & shoulders. Waiting for new harsher coat. Needs time and confidence.

2nd-Keeves SEVEEK DOUBLE DICE. Another 8mth well grown harsh coated dark grey. Showed well, needs lots of time to mature. Just preferred head & size of above.

PUPPY DOG (2entries)

1st- Miller's CORNTON DARK CORRIE. Very showy dark grey. Good overall size and pleasing outline. Nice neck , shoulders & hindquarters. Moved freely.

2nd- Dunn's BIRSELAW MIRAGE. Well grown & strong looking wheaten. Pleasing head with nice dark eye. Front action could be better. Waiting for new coat.

JUNIOR DOG (4 entries)

1st- Percy's WINETTA SIR IVOR. Ultra smart brindle of nice size. Excellent head & expression. Good neck & well placed shoulders with level topline & good tailset. Moved freely. Coat could be better. Lots to like.

2nd- Saich's LINDCOLY OUTTA THE BLUE. Dark brindle with harsher coat than above. Nice overall length and firm hindquarters with good feet. Smart & moved ok.

3rd- Parkin's CARRADINE MY MATE MATTHEW.

1st- Miller's CORNTON COULTER. Well constructed & up to size light grey brindle. Good textured coat. Pleasing head. Level topline with good tailset. Hindquarters could be better, moved freely

POST GRADUATE DOG (4 entries)

1st- Shaw's HONEYHALL HEADBOY. Ultra smart & well presented brindle with good head and dark points. Liked his reach of neck, level topline and good tailset. Firm hindquarters with free movement.

2nd- Saich's LINDCOLY I BELIEVE I CAN FLY. Well built harsh coated red. Liked his head & expression. Showed well but not quite the free movement as above.

3rd- Shopland's HJOHOO'S A KIND HJO CAN'T FIND ON CHERRYCRACK.

LIMIT DOG (8 entries)

1st- Waugh's TRIBANNON WAR DANCE. Harsh coated cream. Pleasing head with good reach of neck & well placed shoulders with level topline. Overall good length of leg, moved freely & showed well with encouragement.

2nd- Saich's LINDCOLY SWORD IN THE STONE. Showy cream of much heavier type. Lovely head & dark mask, nice eyes. Level back, good tailset & firm hindquarters. Steady movement.

3rd- Waites SVENDALENS SNOW KNIGHT.

OPEN DOG (7 entries)

1st- Catto's CH BIRSELAW THE THRILL OF IT ALL. Well presented ultra smart dark red brindle. Lovely well furnished masculine head with excellent expression. Good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, good spring of ribs. Excellent double harsh coat. Moved with zest. Dog CC & BOB.

2nd- Percy's WINETTA STAND AND DELIVER. Dark brindle, lots to like. Well balanced & of nice size. Good head, neck & shoulder, level topline with good tailset. An honest dog who moved freely & with purpose. Coat just needs a ;=bit more time. Res Dog CC.

3rd- Blackstaffe's CAN CH CHECKERS GINGERBREAD MAN.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS OPEN DOG OR BITCH (3 entries)

1st- Saich's LINDCOLY SWORD IN THE STONE.

2nd- Bowness BIRSELAW BLITHE SPIRIT. Attractive cream brindle bitch with dark points, of nice overall size. Good length of leg & in proportion. Needs encouragement to use ears.

3rd- Bowness BIRSELAW FOLKSONG.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (6 entries)

1st- Roberts CANNWOOD SPECIAL MOMENT. Most endearing harsh coated cream of just 6mths. Very full of life and free movement. Mischievous expression with black mask & dark eyes. Overall in proportion, just needs time to grow.

2nd- Osborn's TWESLAM WHISPERED SPELL. Another most promising harsh coated light red of 6mths. Liked her neck, shoulders & overall length. Sound mover. Needs more confidence & head furnishings which will all come with time & encouragement.

3rd- Saich's LINDCOLY DON'T STOP ME NOW.

PUPPY BITCH (7 entries)

1st- Shannon's BRENNDARCY TOMMELISE. Most promising and attractive red brindle. Liked her overall conformation. Good hindquarters, moved soundly & freely. Showed well. Best Puppy.

2nd- Confue's ANJOFRA MAD ABOUT ME. Attractive brindle and full of life. Well constructed & balanced. Just to-day preferred head & size of above. Another free & sound mover.

3rd- Hogarty's CHERRTCRACK BIRDSONG.

JUNIOR BITCH ( 7entries)

1st- Shannon & Storr's BRENNDARCY DIZZIE RASCAL. Ultra smart harsh coated red. Loved her head, expression with dark points. Good firm body with most pleasing general outline and nice hindquarters & tailset. Sound movement with drive. Res. BCC.

2nd- Gavaghan's DOONRAE MILLION DOLLAR BABY. Light wheaten with appealing head. Good neck, shoulders & level topline. Moved freely but preferred hindquarters of above. Good harsh textured coat coming.

3rd- Osborn's TWESLAM MYSTERY OF MAGIC.

YEARLING BITCH (2 entries)

1st- Confue's ANJOFRA MYMBLE. Attractive grey brindle, well presented though coat not at its best. Overall of nice size with level back & good tailset. Moved freely & showed well.

2nd- Berrecloth's SYBSTER SANDEROMA. Smart, well coated cream brindle with alert expression. Good overall length, level topline, good tailset. Moved freely but abit too close behind for me.

NOVICE BITCH (2 entries)

1st- Miller's CORNTON BRORA. Attractive grey with alert expression. Good firm body with pleasing tail set. Steady mover, just needs a new harsher jacket.

2nd- Catto's BIRSELAW WINTER'S WISH. Wheaten with attractive head & good eyes. Good overall firm body. Just needs more confidence & a better coat.

GRADUATE BITCH (2 entries)

1st- Berrecloth's SYBSTER SANDEROMA.

2nd- Bowness BIRSELAW BLITHE SPIRIT.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (4 entries)

!st- Shannon's BRENNDARCY BIT OF BOTHER. Most smart light grey brindle with good harsh coat coming. Attractive head. Built all in proportion. Sound movement with nice neat feet.

2nd- Saich's LINDCOLY MISS EMILEA Cream of heavier type with lovely head & expression. Good firm hindquarters, sound movement with good tailset.

Just needs more confidence.

3rd- Bowness BIRSELAW FOLKSONG.

LIMIT BITCH (5 entries)

1st- Osborn's TWESLAM THISTLE OF MAGIC. Harsh textured dark red brindle, would prefer just abit more coat. Liked her feminine expression with neat ears. Nice reach of neck & well placed shoulders with level topline. Moved freely & soundly.

2nd- Keeves SEVEEK LIVING THE DREAM. another harsh coated red with good overall length and balance. Lots to like about her.

3rd- Clarke's LENTRICA SWEET SENSATION.

OPEN BITCH (4 entries)

1st- Hogarty's IR CH CADAGIO TURNING TABLES. Attractive red brindle, most appealing feminine head with good stop. Liked her overall length & size. Nicely constructed, well sprung ribs & nice body to handle. Good hindquarters, most sound movement & showed throughout. Deserved her CC.

2nd- Waugh's TRIBANNON IN THE LIMELITE. Well made grey, of good overall size. Fine neck & shoulders, good front on standing. Moved well with encouragement, alittle tired to-day.

3rd- Saich's LINDCOLY HERE'S OLIVE.
