Critique
Darlington 2014 My
general comments are meant as constructive, heads remain quite mixed in good
type, many lack the correct proportions & muzzles are getting quite
snipey! There were a few mouths with small teeth & I found small black
eyes creeping into the breed. Coats & presentation were mixed, movement
remains poor & needs serious attention from breeders. Dog showing is an
expensive past-time, the Standard asks for the dog to stand ‘well forward on
forepaws’, so why are so many stacked like ‘rocking horses’? Many dogs are
untrained & poorly handled? VD (2,1a) 1
Parkin’s Roachdee Mystery Of The Full Moon, 8 year old of a nice size,
pleasing head with a good stop & keen expression. Good neck &
shoulders, a little wide in his front. Nicely balanced body with good
hindquarters, correct tail set & carriage. In good coat, moved well
behind. BV. MPD (3,1) 1
Currie’s Stirlingview Play The Dice, wh/br who has a nice head &
expression, well placed ears. Good neck & shoulders, front OK& good
topline. Nicely constructed body but could carry a little more body
condition. Tailset correct, moved well behind, in nice coat just needs to be
taught better showmanship. BP; 2
Clarke’s Svendalens Perseverance with Lentrica, silver & a raw baby, has
lots of time on his side. Needs to improve in front, would have preferred a
slightly shorter foreface. Lovely body shape, good turn of stifle, correct
tailset. In nice condition. PD (2) A. JD (0). PGD (6,1) 1
Inett & Engebretsen’s Carradine Dexter, this r/br commands your attention
as soon as he enters the ring. On his toes a little too much which affected
his movement at times. Masculine head, keen expression. Good neck &
shoulders, nice front with a really well balanced body. Excels in turn of
stifle & knows how to use his backend on the move. Tailset a touch higher
than I like but carried his tail bang on top. In very nice coat &
condition. He should gain his title very soon, today was the RCC winner; 2 Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Limited
Edition, red with a very pleasing head & expression. Correct body shape,
size & condition, pleasing front construction. Not in the best of coats
today & needs to settle when moving; 3
Currie’s Stirlingview Superhero. LD (6) 1 Shopland’s Hjohoo’s A Hjo Can’t Find on
Cherrycrack, r/br, medium size with a balanced shape. He has a pleasing head,
well defined stop & good expression. He has a nicely made body, good
profile when on the move. Good turn of stifle, correct tail set, correct
textured coat. Could be more positive in his front action, but no problem
with his driving hind action. Showed well; 2
Waite’s Svendalens Snow Knight, pleasing black masked wh/br, nice dark eye
& keen expression. Good neck & shoulders, correct topline, showing
& moving well; 3
Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There & Back Again. OD (4,1) 1
Thomas’ Ch Tycado I Spy, wheaten of the correct size & shape. Masculine
throughout, nice head with the correct eye colour, earset, well defined
stop& well filled muzzle. Good length of neck which blended into his well
angulated shoulders. Correct body length, good depth of ribs, level back
& tailset in the correct place. I liked his turn of stifle, short hocks
& well defined parallel driving action. In nice coat & condition,
showing well. CC& BOB; 2
Percy’s Ch Winetta Stand And Deliver, another nice male, r/br with a nice
head. I thought he was a little short of head furnishings, which detracted
from his expression. Good neck, well made body & balanced shape.
Disappointed me in front, his hindquarters are well made & he has a good
driving action. Shown in nice coat & condition; 3
Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable. VB (1) 1
Ball’s Tweslam Izz Wizzy Get Bizzy, red girl of 11 years, pretty feminine
head & expression. Would have liked a little more neck for balance, well
covered body. In nice coat & condition, moves well in both directions.
Showed well. MPB (4) 1
Drew’s Miketos Marvelous Fiona at L’Artiste, I loved this red baby, all
together for one so young. She has a very nice head with a well defined stop,
correct eye shape & colour. Nice length of neck which blended into her
topline. Well made body & balanced shape, good turn of stifle. Correct
tailset, nice tight coat of the correct texture. Moves well both ways, I
shall watch her future with interest; 2
Thomas’ Tycadno Miss Moneypenny, a r/wh who is still quite raw at present.
Nice outline, good body & well made hindquarters. Needs to be more
positive in front, but very sound behind. Just needs time to mature; 3
Shannon & Storr’s Fortune Teller. PB (3,1) 1 Thomas’ Tycadno Morning Star, wheaten
with a lovely balanced outline. Pleasing head& expression, good length of
neck with correct shoulder angulation. She possesses a very good body having
the correct length of back & depth of body. Well made hindquarters which
she knows how to use. Showed steadily; 2
Osborn’s Tweslam Born To Bewitch, wheaten, unfortunately not in the best of
coats today. Pleasing head, nice dark eye & expression. Good front,
balanced body with correct tailset. Moved steadily but not in the condition
of 1. JB (1) 1
Waites’ Seveek Snow Angel with Svendalens, silver/br, not long out of puppy,
of the correct size & nicely balanced. One of the few here with good
feet! Well made body, good bone, correct tailset & good double coat.
Moved & showed well. PGB (6) 1
Percy’s Winetta Duchess Dora, feminine r/br who has a very nice head with a
dark eye & good expression. Good in neck, shoulders & front. Well
balanced body, correct outline with good tailset. Well made hindquarters, in
nice coat & condition. Positive mover both ways, showed well & in
unison with her handler; 2
McGrath’s Brenndarcy Cinnamon Girl, red with a nicely made head &
expression. Feminine outline, nice body with correct tailset. In nice coat
& condition, moves & shows well; 3
Inett, Harrison & Clayton’s Carradine Secret Snowdrop. LB (6,2) 1
Carter’s Brenndarcy Dizzie Lizzie at Carenwil, very nice wheaten, very
pleasing in head& expression, correct ear placement & dark eye. Keeps
her well balanced outline on the move as well as when standing. Mature in
body, nice turn of stifle with a good tailset & carriage. In excellent
coat & condition, well handled to get the most out of her, a soundly
moving girl; 2
Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal, red daughter of 1. Similar in
head type to 1. Not as balanced in body but good in neck & shoulders. She
has the correct coat & condition. Not so positive in movement as her dam,
showed well; 3
Shannon& McGrath’s Brenndarcy Bit Of Bother. OB (7,2) 1
Bateman & Inett’s Carradine In Love With Amy, silver who is not overdone
in any way. She has a nice feminine head, dark eye, well defined stop&
correct width of foreface that many lacked. Medium length of back, good
spring of ribs & enough coupling to give flexibility. Straight front,
nice depth of bone, strong muscled hindquarters. Correct tailset, in nice
coat & condition, moves & shows well. CC; 2
Felter & Rumen’s Ch Landbuck Xanthe, wheaten who stands out,
unfortunately she can be her own worst enemy. She is so full of herself that
it’s difficult to assess her movement. She is very feminine & has the
head to go with it. Good neck with a nice body shape. She has two coats so
needs some attention there. Showed in an excited manner but still worthy of
the RCC; 3 Osborn’s Tweslam Thistle Be Magic. DAVID WINSLEY |

1
Drew’s Tycadno Thriller at L’artiste, wh/br, this dog excels in head, with good
ear placement, big teeth & correct expression. Coat not at its best today,
but of correct texture, moved well & co-operated with his owner.
MLD (2)
1
Shannon& Storr’s Brenndarcy Limited Edition, lovely red boy, nice head
shape, good ear placement with correct mouth & big teeth. Excellent profuse
coat, good topline & tailset, he didn’t behave himself today but what I did
see of his movement showed he moved with drive & purpose;
2
Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again under Macmoon, another nice
boy, excellent in head proportions, good mouth, correct double coat & nice
tailset, good topline held on the move. Lost out today on his rear movement
which was not as positive as my first’s.
OD (3,1)
1
Waites’ Svendalens Snow Knight, wh/br dog, masculine head, with dark mask, neat
ears, correct topline & tailset, which he held on the move. Excellent
double coat of correct texture. Flowed around the ring with drive, a worthy
winner. BD, BOB;
2
Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable of Macmoon, g/br dog, masculine head,
with correct Cairn expression, responded very well to his owner &
showed& moved well , in good coat & condition.
VD (2,1)
1 Parkin’s Roachdee Mystery Of The Full Moon,
wheaten dog, lovely head, with neat ears & good eye. Coat of correct
texture, good topline & tailset. He was distracted by the smells in the
grass but moved very well once he settled.
MPB (4)
1
Thomas’ Tycadno Miss Money Penny, wheaten bitch, nice feminine head, lovely
large teeth. Correct coat texure, level topline & good tailset, moved &
showed well for such a baby. Very promising bitch puppy;
2
Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Fortune Teller, another lovely feminine puppy with
excellent head, neat ears& good mouth. Dark brindle, good profuse coat,
another one very distracted by the smells in the grass today, which made it
difficult to assess her movement, nevertheless, another very promising puppy;
3
Drew’s Miketos Marvelous Fiona at L’Artiste.
PB (3,1)
1
Osborn’s Tweslam Born To Bewitch, light red bitch puppy, nice head, big teeth,
coat just starting to blow but still could not deny this puppy her placing as
she is put together so well & moved with confidence & drive. I believe
she is one to watch. BPB, BP;
2
Tycadno Morning Star, another lovely bitch puppy, with a feminine head, good
coat & well put together, she just didn’t show as well as my first placing
today.
JB (2) Two nice bitches in this class. 1 Felters & Rumens’
Tweedisle Playing With Fire at Landbuck, pretty red bitch, with dark points,
neat ears, excellent coat, very balanced with good topline, correct spring of
rib. Good tailset, moved & showed very well; 2 Waites’ Seveek Snow Angel
with Svendalens, pretty gr/br bitch, good feminine head, good topline &
tailset, showed well but not in the best of coats today.
GB (7,2) 1 Percy’s Winetta Duchess Dora, r/copper/br bitch,
excellent head, big teeth, this bitch showed & moved very well both ways.
Good topline & tailset which she held on the move. She is in very good
coat& body condition. Pushed hard in the challenge for BB;
2
Bradshaw’s Newfield Michaelmas Daisy, feminine r/br bitch with correct
expression, in full coat of good texture, good topline & tailset, moved
steadily & responded to her handler. A good placing in this strong class;
3
Osborn’s Mystery Of Magic.
MLB (0).
OB (4,2) 1 Clarke’s Lentrica Sweet Sensation, wh/br bitch, pretty
head, dark mask, good ear placement, level topline & correct tailset. Well
presented & in good coat. Well muscled hindquarters, moved around the ring
with drive. This bitch never stopped showing which won her the placing of BB; 2
Osborn’s Tweslam Thistle Be Magic, r/br bitch, good earset & stop, large
teeth, another shown in excellent coat & body condition. Very close
decision but my first placing just showed better today.
VB (1) 1 Ball’s Tweslam Wizzy Get
Bizzy, red bitch, lovely head, shown in profuse coat of excellent texture, her
movement was excellent for an 11 year old, just would benefit from losing a bit
of weight. Enjoying her day out.
