PUPPY CHALLENGE

Sorry a few missing & not good quality.

No camera so had to depend on friends.

Scottish Breeds – Cairns

I found a number of exhibits were carrying a little too much weight.  OK in a veteran or very young pup, but  I prefer to see them in harder condition.  One or two had their head furnishings very ‘fluffed up’ in a rather chocolate-box  way, possibly to hide lack of stop which was evident in many exhibits. That said, all exhibits were clean and, with one or two exceptions, had correct mouths with large clean teeth and all had good tight feet.  Temperaments were, as usual , excellent.

Vet. D (2) Nice pair of, really, middle-aged gents. Smith’s  Ch. Rocasovale Razzle Dazzle, grey brindle, well known champion, in good coat, strong head, good length of back and leg, steady mover, showed well.  2. Parkin’s Roachdee Mystery of the Full Moon, light red, beautiful head, good coat, showed and moved nicely but just preferred the proportions and front action of 1.

MP. D (1) Keeves’ Seveek Double Dice, grey brindle,  a touch long in foreface and lacking stop, good coat, well proportioned pup, moved well both ways.

PD (1) Miller’s Cornton Dark Corrie, attractive dark grey youngster, very good head and expression with well set ears, nice length of neck leading to well-laid back shoulders, balanced.  Good coat, hocks well let down, correct tailset. Could tighten in front but he has time, BP.

JD (4) 1. Percy’s Winetta Sir Ivor, grey  brindle, nice size, very good head, expression and length of neck, level back and good tailset, well muscled.  Showed and moved very well. 2. Roberts’ Cannwood Call of Duty, grey, still – just - a puppy and up to size. Similar remarks apply but just preferred head of 1.  3. Parkin’s Carradine My Mate Mathews.

ND (0).

PGD (5) 1. Shaw’s Honeyhall Headboy, copper brindle,  very smart lad, lovely head with attractive dark mask and well set ears, very showy, well balanced, good neck and tailset, well ribbed up, correct coat, moved soundly, Res. CC. 2. Waugh’s Tribannon War Dance, cream, another attractive boy with a good head and typical expression, good coat, moved very soundly as one would expect from this kennel.  3. Mears’ Glenmear Magee.

LD (3) 1. Waites’ Svendalen Snow Knight, light grey, nice length of back and leg, good front, won on  head and overall proportions, showing well. 2. Lamb & Saltmarsh’ Renshaw There and Back Again under Macmoon, grey, typical head and expression, level back, moved OK, in good fit condition.  3. Fortune’s Eglish Willies Wee Man with Essdeeeff.

OD (6) 1. Catto’s Ch. Birselaw the Thrill of it All. Another lovely champion from this clever breeder.  He is all a Cairn should be – right for size,  gorgeous head, excellent proportions, correct length of neck, good shoulders, straight front, level back, well set-on tail, excellent body and coat.  Shows and moves beautifully. Such a typical Cairn who’s got what it takes.  C.C. and B.O.B. 2. Blackstaffe’s Can. Ch. Checkers Gingerbread Man.  And he really is a ginger boy – not a colour so often seen nowadays. Very nice head and expression, very showy with good length of neck  leading to good shoulders and level back which, to be picky, might be a tad longer. Very smart dog. 3. Percy’s Winetta Stand and Deliver.

Vet.B(1) Clarke’s Ch. Conundrum Sweeter For Me for Lentrica, delightful little girl.  Dark grey, super head and expression with neat little ears, good forechest , well bent stifles and nice length of leg.  Neat little tail, lively and showy, charming bitch, between coats right now. Gave RCC winner a run for her money.

MPB(5) 1. Roberts’ Cannwood Special Moment, cream, typical expression, well proportioned, good coat, standing well forward on forepaws, level back and well sprung ribs. Moved soundly. 2. Osborn’s Tweslam Whispered Spell, another very nice puppy, cream, similar type to 1. but lacking coat and furnishings at the moment, although what coat there is is good quality.  Very well balanced with good tailset and length of leg and neck.   3. Waites’ Seveek Snow Angel with Svendalens.

PB (6) 1. Waugh’s Tribannon Tiptoes, cream, lovely head with well placed ears, level topline, good length of leg and correct length and set-on of tail, a sound and typical Cairn, won on movement. 2. Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Tommelise, copper brindle, lots to like about this youngster, lovely head and correct coat, slightly stockier model than 1, good shoulders and front, level topline, moved and showed well. 3. Confue’s Anjofra Mad About Me.

JB (4) 1. Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal, lovely head and expression, excellent red coat, well ribbed up, nicely balanced, good muscling, showed very well. 2. Gavaghan’s Doonrae Million Dollar Baby, wheaten, another nice one – difficult decision between these two.  Looked to be slightly rangier than 1. but perhaps this was just an impression as she was carrying less coat, sweet expression, played her handler up a bit but moved soundly when she settled. 3. Osborn’s Tweslam Mystery of Magic.

NB (0)

PGB(6) (1 abs.) 1. Osborn’s Tweslam Thistle Be Magic, copper brindle, very well put together, all of a piece, neat typy little Cairn. Beautifully proportioned, good head and expression, neat ears, good topline, nice angulation front and back, moved well, lovely bitch, Res. CC. 2. Confue’s Anjofra Mymble, grey, nice for size, very good head and expression, correct coat, good body and ribs, level back with well set tail, moved very well, a close decision. 3. Shannon & McGrath’s Brenndarcy Bit of Bother.

LB (4) (1 abs.) 1. Clarke’s Lentrica Sweet Sensation, silver grey well named for she is indeed sweet. Lovely typical head and expression, so feminine, neat ears. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulders and level back with well set tail, good forechest, spring of rib and length of leg.  Moved soundly fore and aft.  CC. 2. Keeves’ Seveek Living The Dream,  light red, slightly bigger than 1., lovely coat, nice expression, good shoulders and topline, moved soundly. 3. Saich’s Lindcoly here’s Olive.

OB (3) 1. Waugh’s Tribannon In the Limelite, grey, excellent proportions and the super sound movement typical of this kennel, typical  head and expression, good body. 2. Hogarty’s Cadagio Turning Tables, red brindle, very good coat, level topline, better head than 1. but not the balance. Movement front and back let her down.
