SOUTHERN  COUNTIES 31 MAy 2014

CAIRN TERRIERS

Thanks to the committee of Southern Counties for inviting me to judge at this well run show held in a very good location, also to my three stewards for the smooth running of  the judging.  Many thanks to the exhibitors for supporting me.  So much has been written regarding the lack of depth of quality in cairns, there is no need for me to say more.  A couple of incorrect mouths, more concerning  is the bold eye, there were a few.  I was more than pleased with both my line ups and spoilt for choice for both RCCs, the Best Puppy was lovely

MPD 1

1. Kinchins Pennidazzle All Spruced Up - he has a tight but very good grey brindle jacket, at a very gangly stage well up to size, good big teeth, and plenty of bone, stands correctly, hard to assess movement, not quite balanced yet needs time

PD 2

1. Parker Tucker's Uniquecottage Winsford light red needs new coat, good for size and balance, typical head, in hard condition, saw enough of his movement

2 Peers Tweedisle Relight My Fire Clear red in very full coat which spoilt his very good top line, appealing head, good for body shape, balanced, both these pups movement was wayward, his more so

JD 1

1 Paige's Glenrood Trojan Horse dark grey brindle in good coat sensibly presented not overdone in any way, he responds well to his handler, head of correct proportions, keen expression, neat ears, very good bite, stands and moves well going and coming, balanced and well muscled, real cairn immature yet for higher honours but stood well in the challenge

PGD 4.

1 Innett & Engebretsen Carradine Dexter - copper brindle lovely head, expressive eye, good stop, clean neck and shoulders, level top line, well muscled, moves with drive expertly handled and well presented

2 Waughs Tribannon War Dance  - wheaten in full coat, best of heads, good bite big teeth, correct front and rear assembly moved well away and back not cooperating with his handler, coat needs attention

3 Drews Tycadno Thriller At L'Artiste

LD 4

1. Thomas' Tycadno I Spy - wheaten brindle in good coat, has breed type, lovely head, good bite, expressive eye, so well constructed, level top line good tail set, stands well and moves with drive sensibly presented giving a lovely outline he's a handful but a real cairn CC  BOB makes him up 2. Waites  Svendalens Snow Knight wheaten brindle up to size, not in the best of coats it was uneven thick and short in places, lacking head furnishings enough forechest, well bodied and moved well, he never looked settled

3 Parker Tucker's Uniquecottage Jumbuck,

OD  2

1. Bateman & Gompels Carradine Terries Tipple wheaten brindle strong head, correct conformation, shown in short coat of correct texture, is a steady showman moving correctly going and coming, has a good outline and stands correctly, responds well to his handler RCC 2. Hogarty's Cadagio More Than A Feeling - light red with a very good head, expressive eye, soundly made with good muscle tone in hard condition, today he was sluggish

GC Keeves Seveek Living The Dream - pretty feminine clear red girl with a lovely head, a completely honest cairn, good outline and moves correctly presentation let her down in the Open Class worthy champion

MPB 3

1. Osborn's Tweslam Born To Bewitch - and she bewitched me! light red, sweet expression, correctly made good presentation,  well schooled and responsive to her handler BP 2. Kinchin's  Pennidazzle Tuesdays Child - dark grey brindle well grown and balanced, covered the ground well, typical head with good eye, good forechest 3. Dolans Glenrood Scheherazade

PB 5

1.  Peers Tweedisle Carefree - grey brindle, beautiful head and correct bite with strong jaw, good top line and tail set, strong hindquarters, carrying a little extra weight 2. Waughs Tribannon On Tiptoes - cream, expressive head, good bite, clean neck and shoulders, plenty of frame to grow into, standing well forward with lovely outline, moved well 3. Shannon & Storrs Brendarcy Tommelise

JB 3 (2)

1. Dolan's Glenrood Magic Spell - grey brindle, lovely head with correct proportions, good bite, very clean outline, level top line and good tailset, so well constructed moving freely with drive, quality cairn, sister to junior dog

PGB 5

1. Smee's Malmay Sunshine Sally - dark brindle, pretty head with good dentition, not a big girl, well constructed, firm top line held on the move, moved well, lovely outline, stands correctly when relaxed 2.
