A Big THANK YOU to Graham Parkin for being
our Photographer for the day!
BORDER UNION CH SHOW 20 June 2015 Firstly thank you to the Committee for
inviting me to judge this well run and friendly show and helping to make my
day run smoothly with very able stewards. Thanks to all who entered their dogs
under me, on this, my first Championship Show judging appointment. It was an
excellent day, and so lovely to have such wonderful exhibits to judge – all
worthy of winning and in some cases made my decisions quite hard. I was
however surprised to find at this level of show, both level bites and small
jumbled teeth in some exhibits, which obviously affected their placings. The highlight to my day was watching my
BOB winner in the group, who at one point I thought was being shortlisted,
and my Best Puppy in Breed go on not only to be shortlisted, but to take
Puppy Group 4! Both of these excelled themselves in the groups, showing their
socks off especially when the weather had warmed up from the morning! Puppy Dog (3,0abs) 1st – Catto’s Birselaw Stay With Me – 6 ½ month Dark Brindle with good
harsh coat, pleasing masculine head, alert expression, with good stop, dark
eye and correct dentition. Nice
overall size, ribcage correct shape and good length of loin. Angulations in
rear gave good rear drive on movement, but would prefer more space. Showed
well, for one so young. 2nd – Smith’s Rocasovale Distant Drums. 6 ½ month Red Brindle with good
double coat, another pleasing head with dark eye. Not as happy as 1st
place, but has good angulations front and rear, carrying a little extra
weight, and a little overawed by the occasion. Once settled movement was good
with nice space in rear. 3rd – Miller’s Cornton Armistice Junior Dog (2,0abs) 1st –Marshall’s Brenndarcy Lord Marmaduke Avec Strathgarten – Wheaten,
with pleasing head, nice almond eye shape, good stop and neat ears carried
well. Nice length of neck, balanced angulations, good length of leg, with
body in proportion. Correct ribcage and tail set. Shown in short harsh coat,
moved with level topline, showed well throughout. 2nd – Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Bireslaw Dark Charmer –Brindle with
masculine head. Good lengths of neck, nice overall size, correct shaped
ribcage and nice length of loin but would prefer a harsher coat. Novice Dog (1,0abs) 1st – Smith’s Rocasovale Danish Delight. 6 ½ month dark brindle. Lovely
head and expression, good length of neck and nice rear angulation, showier
than his brother yet difficult to fully assess movement as he did play his
handler up. However, should have a bright future. Post Graduate Dog (3,0abs) 1st – Percy’s Winetta Sir Ivor –
Nice harshly coated dark brindle with masculine head nice stop, neat
correctly set ears, with correct bite and large teeth. Lovely length of neck
sat on good shoulders, straight front, level topline, well-shaped ribcage,
and length of loin in proportion. Correct tail set carried well on move and
standing to complete the outline. Moved and showed well, had the extra
sparkle in the final line-up, therefore pleased to award DCC. 2nd –Parkin’s Carradine My Mate
Matthew –Grey Brindle. Head and
expression good, with neat ears. Nicely boned, overall of a nice shape, moved
well for his owner. 3rd – Miller’s Cornton Dark
Corrie Limit Dog (2,0abs) 1st – Catto’s Nordcairn’s Once Upon a Time at Birselaw (IMP DNK) Dark
Brindle with correct harsh coat. Nice
size, with good masculine head, nicely sized teeth. Neck flowed into nicely
angulated shoulders. Lovely ribcage and length of back in proportion to
length of leg. Moved and showed well, however would like a little more
animation. 2nd - Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There and Back Again under Macmoon
ShCm. Slightly larger than 1st, would prefer a little more length of neck. Nice head and
expression. Appeared a little tired. Moved steadily. Open Dog (3,0abs) 1st – Waite’s Svendalens Snow Knight – Wheaten Brindle with correct
harsh double coat. Good neck, nice
angulations to both shoulders and rear. Nothing over exaggerated with this
boy, beautifully balanced, which showed in his movement. Excellent rear drive.
Just lacked the extra sparkle in the final line-up, RDCC. 2nd – Shaws’ CH Honeyhall
Headboy - Gorgeous masculine
head, nice length of neck placed onto
good shoulders, held a level topline when on move, tail well set. 3rd – Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Bireslaw Fable of Macmoon ShCm Veteran Dog (2,0abs) 1st – Smith’s CH Rocasovale Razzle
Dazzle nearly 9 year old brindle
shown with good coat of correct texture. Nice head and expression with good
strong jaw. Nice length of neck, held a level topline on move. 2nd - Parkin’s Roachdee Mystery of the Full Moon slightly younger than
1st , red dog, showy with harsh coat, nicely
balanced, but refused to move on the grass, hopping all the way round, so was
difficult to ascertain his true movement. Puppy Bitch (5,1abs) 1st –Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Moonstruck – This light red
bitch had tremendous ring presence for a first show. Pretty head and appealing expression, has
correct stop and nice dark eye. Good angulations, nice straight front, length
of rib and loin in proportion to height. Moves with drive in rear, which
helped her cover the ground with ease. BPIB
plus Terrier Puppy Group 4 (Judge: Alan Small – Bethane) 2nd – Catto’s Nordcairn’s Peace of Mind at Bireslaw (IMP DNK) Dark
brindle with another pretty head. Younger than 1st, would like a
little more length of forearm, angulations ok, moved and showed well. 3rd – Miller’s Cornton
Rosemaree Junior Bitch (0,0abs) Novice Bitch (0,0abs) Post Graduate Bitch (6,1abs) 1st – Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Tommelise – Excellent head with
very expressive eyes, good stop and eye of correct shape & colour. Nice
length of neck, good, shoulders and rear angulation good which allowed for
excellent rear movement. Nice overall size and correct bone. Shown in full
coat. Handler managed to control her movement well once settled. 2nd – Owen’s Caldwell Carefree.
Pretty head with dark points good stop and correct eye. Nice length of neck sits on good shoulder
placement. Lost out to one on overall substance. 3rd – Berrecloth’s Sybster Sanderoma Limit Bitch (3,0abs) 1st – Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Dizzee Rascal –Lovely red with
gorgeous head and expression, good
stop, dark eye of lovely shape, and correct sized dentition & bite. Good
length of neck set on good lay of shoulder. Ribcage, correct shape, and nice
length of loin. Holds a level topline on the move, tail well set. Good bend
of stifle. Moves with drive. Unfortunate to come up against the BCC winner
today RBCC. 2nd – Owen’s Caldwell Call the Shots – like her sister has a pretty
head with dark points and good stop. Nice shoulders with good topline. Would
prefer more body substance. Moved and showed well. 3rd – Percy’s Winetta Unforgettable Open Bitch (1,0abs) 1st – Felters & Rumens CH Landbuck Jazz Hands JW – Wheaten with
the most appealing head and her dark eyes give her a wonderful cheeky
expression. Her neck flows into
lovely shoulder placement, with correct angulations front and rear, lovely
body with good ribcage, and all in proportion. Well-muscled hind quarters
helped her drive from the rear, covering the ground effortlessly, moving with
ease with her handler. Stood alone in her class, but shone and oozed
class. So pleased to be able to award
this girl BCC, BV and BOB. Veteran Bitch (0,0abs) Judge: Louise Peers (Tweedisle) |
