Show 2nd July 2015 Cairn Terriers With the return of CC’s to Windsor after
a 20 year break it was an honour and privilege to be asked to judge the
breed. My thanks to the exhibitors for their magnificent support with far
more entries than ever anticipated and also my efficient stewards for keeping
things running smoothly. My impression of the breed at the moment
was one of inconsistency, in general heads, expressions and dentition were
good although some teeth could be cleaner, presentation had improved although
in some cases a more thorough grooming was needed, a coat coming in is
preferable to one on the blow as this spoils the overall outline. My main
concerns were size, some too big with heavy bone and conversely some too fine
and lacking substance. At times my placings must have looked very unbalanced
from the ringside. Poor hind movement has been well documented previously but
what I was really shocked to find was ‘plaiting’ front movement in a couple
of exhibits. V D/B 2(1) 1 Grainger’s Ch DEVIL IN DIGUISE 10 years male, a very worthy
Ch. Presented in fine condition, great ambassador for the breed. PD 5(1) 1 Dolan’s GLENROOD SPYCATCHER Typical of this kennel, quite
mature, good head with masculine expression and nice large teeth, well coated
of correct texture, moved freely. 2
Weinberger’s CORRENIE NO NO ROMEO Rangier than 1, liked his shape, size and
overall construction, his coat let him down today. 3
Saich’s LINCOLY HOWLING MAD MURDOC JD 10(3) 1 Marshall’s BRENNDARCY LORD MARMADUKE AVEC STRATHGARTEN Very smart male with lovely dark points,
keen expression, his overall conformation is excellent, moved well and very
attentive to handler, still some maturing to do but I had no hesitation in
awarding him the RCC 2
Thompson’s CASTLELINE BARN DANCE Another smart young dog, keen expression,
again overall conformation is good, excellent coat, 1 just had the edge on
movement today. 3
Weinberger’s CORRENIE HURRICNE FLY PGD 8(2)1
Parker-Tucker’s UNIQUECOTTAGE WINSFORD Typical of this kennel, very sound
throughout, lovely head, expression and teeth, in good coat and well muscled,
moved and showed well. 2
Day’s CHERRYCRACK LUDO AT TREKHILLI JW Sh. CM Well up to size, lovely head
and expression, well set on neck into good shoulders and front. Rather long
cast for me but great showman. 3
Kinton’s WOODTHORPE I KNOW THE CODE LD 5 1
Parker-Tucker’s UNIQEUCOTTAGE JUMBUCK Similar remarks apply to those of his
kennel mate, my type, not easy to show but today he proved he is an ‘outdoor’
dog. 2 Currie’s STIRLINGVIEW SUPERHERO Liked this
dog a lot, masculine expression, big teeth, good length of leg, level topline
kept on the move, today short of coat but nothing to hide. 3
Drew’s TYCADNO THRILLER AT L’ARTISTE OD 4 1
Thomas’ Ch TYCADNO I SPY Superb dog wish I owned him, I can add nothing to
what has been said previously, enormous ring presence he commands attention,
not always easy to show today he was on his best behaviour, he gave his all
in the Group as well, delighted to see him make the cut. CC & BOB 2 Waites’ SVENDALENS SNOW KNIGHT Long
admired him from the ringside, well put together with all the correct
essentials, moves with drive and shows well, just not at his best today. 3 Waugh’s TRIBANNON WAR DANCE GC D/B 2 1 Keeves’ CH SEVEEK LIVING THE DREAM
JW Sh. CM Attractive feminine bitch, with good reach of neck into correct
front & shoulders, positive movement both ways & showed well. 2
Laker’s WIZOZ MISS BACKCHAT Smaller bitch and rather short cast, correct coat
and moved well. PB 9(1) 1 Clarke’s LENTRICA DOLLY DAYDREAM Really
lovely puppy, very confident, attractive feminine head, good reach of neck
into straight front and well laid shoulders, correct tailset. Moved with
drive & kept topline, short of coat today but this did not detract from
her overall quality, hopefully a bright future BP 2 Keeves’ SEVEEK HOPES ‘N’ DREAMS Well
grown, lovely head, correct neck, shoulders and front, moved well, in good
coat, another good one. 3 Yates & Johnsons’ PENDLEY OLA JB 6 1
Thomas’ TYCADNO MORNING STAR Ideal size, of excellent construction
making her well balanced, not overdone in any way, movement among the best
she covers the ground well, presented
in top order and never stopped showing. 2 Day’s TREKHILLI PICKLED PEPPA Very smart
with really attractive expression, good reach of neck into well laid
shoulders, hopefully she has stopped growing now, moved with confidence,
great show girl. 3 Kinton’s WOODTHORPE ENIGMA. PGB 12
(2) 1 McGrath’s BRENNDARCY CINNAMON
GIRL FOR OWENREAGH Caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring, lovely
head, the best of fronts shoulders and topline, her movement is first class,
shown in good coat, a super bitch. Sadly in the challenge she threw the towel
in, so disappointing. 2
Waugh’s TRIBANNON MINUET Very typical of this kennel, consistent breeding to
type, beautiful head and expression, good length of leg, everything in
proportion giving a lovely outline, moves with real drive, a bit more tidying
of coat would complete the picture. 3 Dolan’s GLENROOD SCHEHERAZADA LB 6 1
Waugh’s TRIBANNON ON TIPTOES Another super bitch from this kennel,
many of the same remarks as her kennel mate apply, in excellent coat, well
presented, her movement is superb which just tipped the balance over 2, CC 2 Shannon & Storrs’ BRENNDARCY DIZZEE
RASCAL Like this bitch a lot, again consistent breeding shows, lovely head,
good size, she conforms really well to the standard, presented in very good order
and moved with drive. Very close decision between these two RCC 3 Yates & Johnsons’ PENDLEY HESTER OB 6(3) 1 Keeves’ CH SEVEEK LIVING THE DREAM JW Sh. CM 2 Osborn’s CH TWESLAM THISTLE BE MAGIC Attractive
bitch with good reach of neck into correct front and shoulders, level topline
and right tailset, moved well but a little lack lustre in the heat today. 3 Hewitt’s LITTLEACORN STAY IN TOUCH Frances Goldfinch Judge |
