MIDLAND CAIRN TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

Saturday 3rd December 2016

I would like to thank the officers and committee of the MCTC for their hospitality and for inviting me to judge their Championship show. Many thanks also to my two stewards for their help and efficiency. I was very pleased with my entry and would like to thank the exhibitors for entering, and giving me the opportunity to go over and judge their dogs.

I was quite disappointed in the standard of some of the males, finding some incorrect mouths and poor movement. The bitches were of better quality than the dogs. Temperaments were good. I also found some of the exhibits with greasy and dirty coats. I know the weather has not been too good, but this could have been remedied before the show!

I was very pleased with my main winners and especially with both of my final line ups.

Veteran Dog or Bitch (8, 1 abs)

1st. Felters and Rumens’ Landbuck Jazz Hands JW, 9 yr old wheaten bitch who is put together well. Pretty head with a nice expression, good dark eye and correct mouth. Straight front, good length of neck, which flows into clean shoulders. Correct topline and good tailset. Showed reasonably well, enough to win this class. Best Veteran.

2nd. Osborn’s Ch Tweslam Maid By Magic JW, 7 yr old red bitch of a larger build than 1. Good head and expression, well balanced with a good topline. Showed well.

3rd. Innett's Ch Carradine Come On Irene JW.

Minor Puppy Dog (2, 0 abs)

1st. Day’s Trekhilli Pepperazzi, 8 month old very dark brindle shown in a good coat. Wide jaw with strong teeth and a correct bite. Straight front, good length of neck and good shoulders, level topline which he held on the move. Well up to size. Excellent showman.

2nd. Shannon & Storr’s Brenndarcy Aladdin Sane, 8 month red of a smaller mould than 1, he has a good head and eye giving a correct expression. Coat of a good texture. He was difficult to assess as he was a little wayward on the table and on the move.

This bitch excels in length of neck and lovely clean shoulders. She has a straight front and good feet, a level topline which she kept on the move, and a good tailset.  She has a coat of a good texture and was well groomed. Moved with purpose around the ring. An excellent showgirl. I judged her when she was a puppy and she has matured well. Pleased to award her Bitch C.C. and Best in Show.
