Cairn Terriers

Congratulations to the SCCAcommittee & their team for such a well organised show. A special thank you to my efficient stewards. Also for the exhibitors patience when I found it necessary to move the Cairns quite considerably to allow them the opportunity to give their best when coping with the difficulties of the ring. The ring was a very good size, however, the grass had recently been cut & cutting left, some of which were quite spikey, the ring also had a slope & this combination was not appreciated by some of the exhibits & generally affected their movement today. Some Cairns coped very well when they became accustomed to the ground. I was really pleased with the overall quality & all Cairns were well presented, tidy but not overtrimmed. Some coats were on the blow, others coming in nicely. It was also very pleasing to find so many good & expressive heads. Many of the decisions were so very close. In the end it came down to placing them on how they coped with the ground and their animation. On another day & on a firmer ground they could well have been placed differently.

JD(5,1a)

1 Shopland’s Trekhilli Mr Bean at Cherrycrack, 14 month old dark brindle, very good head & expression, correct mouth, nice neck & lay of shoulders, spring of rib & body, strong quarters, good quality coat & condition, moved & showed very well;

2 Keeves’ Seveek I Spied That Dream, another promising youngster, typical head & expression, correct mouth, good neck into shoulders, nice spring of rib, good topline & quarters, in good coat & condition, did not cope quite as well with the ground as 1 today, but showed very well;

A most beautiful typy head & expression, correct mouth, lovely neck into well placed shoulders, nice spring of rib, level topline & correct tailset, sound in body, front & quarters.
