SCOTTISH BREEDS CHAMPTION SHOW MARCH 2018. CAIRN
TERRIERS. Thank
you to the Scottish Breeds Committee for the invitation to judge Cairns at
their Championship Show, also for the excellent hospitality. This
was my last championship judging
appointment and I loved every second of it. Thank you for the entry it was
such a pleasure to have many quality cairns to 'go over'. I decided not to
look at any show reports for the whole year before the Show, so the dogs
would be be new to me. I
was very very pleased with the main winners , especially in the open classes where decisions made were
extremely close. My general impression was that temperment was excellent as always, movement was improving, also
presentation. I found a few exhibits
were unbalanced (to my eye) with legs too short and long thin heads, with
small teeth and lacking stop. I
would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, here and overseas, who
have brought cairns for me to judge.
It has been such a pleasure and I
have had the privilege of judging some of the best cairns in the
world, I have learned so much from you all and found life long friends. In
conclusion I wish you success in the future with your Best Little Pal. V.D. 1. Lamb and Saltmarsh's
Birslaw Fable at Mac Moon. Well balanced gr. br. masculine head and
expression, good tailset, harsh coat. A fit 9 yr old. 2. Parkin's Roachdee Mystery
of the Full Moon. wh. 11 yr old with
good quality coat, like his head and expression, topline and tailset, just
preferred bal of 1. MPD (3 - 1A) 1. Miller's Cornton Fyne Fettle. Well balance wh. well angulated
front and rear, very typical head , good mouth, between coats, moved very well. 2. Saich's Lincoly Above the Rest. 9mth old dark br. pleasing
head, showed well, moved OK, preferred coat texture of 1. PD (3- 1A) 1. Firth's Cairngold Chico.
Very smart 9 mth old red, Balanced throughout, good angulation, shown in full
coat. Liked his tail, short and his
small ears, just as described in the Standard, moved very well , shown in
good condition.. 2. Lamb and Saltmarsh's Birslaw Come Dancing with MacMoon. 11mth
old wh.br. Liked his head and expression, overall balance and free movement,
promising puppy, still maturing. 3. Saich's Lincoly Above the Rest. JD (1) 1. Percy's Winetta Quest for
Fame. Quality wh.br. Good head with cairny expression, liked his overall
balance, well angulated front and rear , good tail set, correct coat. moved
with drive, well presented in good condition. RCC. Congratulation on winning
Best Junior in Show. PGD (2) 1. Reeves Cairngold Bubbly.
Attractive red, good head and expression, Well balanced, good angulation, and
tail set. Very typical of this kennel, moved freely. 2. Smith's Rocasovale Distant

presented. 2. Smith's Rocasovale Danish Delight. Dark br. shown in full coat,
balanced outline, liked his shoulder placement, topline and tailset. OD (7 - 2A) This was an excellent class. 1. Mears Ch. Glenmear Mcintyre. I judged this dog when he was a
junior, he was stripped out, all legs and wings, would not cooperate with his
handler but you could see his excellent outline, so sound, everything in the
right place. He has now matured into a quality dog, shown in full coat, he
moves with drive, still can give his handler grief at times, but a worthy
champion. Pleased to award him the
CC. 2. Kinton's Ch. I know The Code. Very close up to 1, gr.br.
stunning head, correct length of neck, good topline and tailset and sound as
a bell. 3. Shannon and Storr's Brenndarcy Tinsoldat. 4 MPB (4) 1. Day's Trekhilli I Got
Chills. 8 mth old dark br. I liked her outline, lovely head with cairny expression, well
angulated, her front movement was a
little tight, but this should correct itself with maturity, well up to size,
moved well. 2. Saich's Lincoly Enid Blyton. Red baby, smaller than 1, nice
topline, tail set and overall balance, shown in good coat. 3. Saich's Lincoly Marvelous
Mildred. PB (3) 1. Thomas's Tycadno Dancing Star. Quality well balanced wheaten,
most lovely head. dark eye, feminine expression, correct angulation front and
rear, moved very well. Must have a
promising future. Pleased to award her BPB 2. Saich's Lincoly Miss Breena.
Attractive wheaten br. typical cairny expression, shown in correct
full coat, moved freely. 3. Saich's Lincoly Oh Carolina. JB (1) 1 . Saich's Lincoly Moana
Tilly. Extrovert wh.br. nice head
with feminine expression, pleasing top line and tailset, moved well. NB (2 - 1Ab) Day's Trekhilli I Got Chills. PGB (5 - 1ab) 1. Pett's Brenndarcy Hunky Dory Among Doonrae. Eye catching light
red, lovely head with cairny expression, well angulated front and rear,
correct length of neck, straight topline which she held on the move. Well
presented. 2. Miller's Cornton Starr Turn.
Lovely head and expression, balanced outline, good layback of shoulder, level topline, moves with drive. Very close up
to 1, who just had the edge on showmanship. 3. Firth's Cairngold Carolina. LB (3 -1ab) 1. Haukatsalu-Irving's Lentnrica Sweet Sensation. Well balanced and
presented gr. br. shown in correct full coat. Best of heads and expression,
she has just what the Standard asks for,' short well furnished tail and
small ears', but still has good
overall balance, very sound, moved well. 2. Berrecloth's Sybster Sanderoma. Presents a balanced picture ,
larger than 1. Well angulated throughout. I like her head, well placed
shoulders and topline. Carrying a
little extra weight today. OB (3) This was a wonderful class,
three stunning bitches. 1. Clarke's Ch. Lentrica Dolly Daydream JW. Quality wh.br.
