SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 25/8/18 CAIRN
TERRIERS – JUDGE MRS JULIE PETTS I would
like to thank those who entered their dogs for me to judge on this bank
holiday weekend in Scotland, despite a relatively small entry I was delighted
with the quality of the dogs I had. Puppy Dog
– NO ENTRIES Junior Dog – 1 ENTRY 1st Millers Cornton Fyne
Fettle Wheaten brindle boy, just over 12
months old, good size, masculine head, with good stop, correctly placed ears,
large teeth with correct scissor bite, keeps his topline on the move, short
well set on tail. Double coat of correct texture, showing well for his owner,
promising young dog, should do well once he bodies up and matures. Post Graduate Dog – 2 ENTRIES 1st Percy’s Winetta Quest
for Fame – DCC & BOB Masculine headed red brindle dog,
with desired keen expression, neat well placed ears, dark eye of correct
shape, very good stop, large teeth, correct bite. Shown in excellent double
coat, keeps his topline on the move, well set on tail, loved his make and
shape, good spring of rib & supple loin, well muscled quarters &
correct slope of shoulder. An eyecatching dog who plays his owner up at times
but when settled he is a picture. 2nd Owen’s Caldwell On
Call Wheaten dog with dark points, another
good head, with correct stop and large teeth, topline & tail set ok and
moved parallel when viewed from rear & drive from side. Double coat,
which could be harsher on his legs. Just seemed to lack a bit of confidence
today, this may come with maturity. Limit Dog – 2 ENTRIES 1st Saich’s Lindcoly
Howling Mad Murdoc Wheaten dog, with good head
proportions, well placed ears, excellent stop, large teeth, good front
assembly, well sprung ribs. Neat well set on tail. Happy show boy, who is
attentive to his owner, would just prefer a bit more drive at the rear. 2nd Miller’s Cornton Dark
Corrie Dark Grey brindle, masculine head,
good stop, harsh coated but not in full jacket today, level top line which he
kept on the move. Well sprung ribs, and well muscled hind quarters. Nicely constructed boy but he just didn’t
seem to have his heart in it today. Open Dog – 2 ENTRIES 1st Owen’s Caldwell Call
to Order RDCC Wheaten brindle boy with dark points,
lovely stop and large teeth, good forechest and correct slope of shoulder,
level topline and correct set on tail which he kept on the move. Double coat
of correct texture and presented in excellent condition. Reaching out in
front and with drive from behind, pushed hard in the challenge. 2nd Catto’s Birselaw Stay
with Me. Dark brindle boy masculine head, with
good stop and eye shape, correct ear placement, large teeth, good forechest,
and shoulder placement, nice spring of rib, topline ok, well set on tail.
Double coat of correct texture, Moving steadily. Veteran Dog – NO ENTRIES Puppy Bitch – 2 entries 1st Birselaw Viking
Princess BPIB Grey Brindle, dark points, very
feminine throughout, neat ears and good stop. Nice flow of neck into
shoulder, excellent topline and neat well set on tail. Good bend of stifle
and well let down hock. Shown in good quality double coat. This bitch showed
so well and never took her eye of her owner. I believe she was awarded Puppy
Group 3. 2nd Saich’s Lindcoly
Clamity Jane Red brindle, feminine bitch, would
prefer more stop, large teeth. Shown in profuse double coat, topline ok but
not using her tail, the occasion was a bit much for this puppy today, she
needs time to gain confidence. Junior Bitch – 1 entry (1 ABS) Post Grad Bitch – 3 entries 1st Miller’s Cornton Starr
Turn Wheaten brindle bitch, dark points,
well placed ears, large teeth, nice feminine head. Good forechest and
shoulders, well sprung ribs, kept her top line and tailset on the move, nice
bend of stifle. A quality bitch I considered for the RBCC but in the
challenge she wasn’t using her ears, the echo in the hall didn’t help. 2nd Bowness’ Birselaw
Blithe Spirit Dark red brindle bitch, shown in
harsh double coat. Feminine head, with good stop, not using her ears at
times. Topline and tail ok, good forechest and bend of stifle. This bitch is
a lovely make and shape but I would just prefer a bit more animation from her
when showing. 3rd Saich’s Lindcoly Moana
Tilly Limit Bitch – 3 entries 1st Soper’s Elitecharm
Five of Diamonds BCC & BOS Light red bitch, dark points with a
stunning feminine head, deep stop and well set neat ears, large teeth. Lovely
length of neck flows in shoulders, good forechest, moved out well in front
and with drive at the rear. Shown in excellent coat condition, keeps her
topline on the move, well set on tail. Attentive to her owner at all times, a
beautiful showgirl. 2nd Catto’s Birselaw Paige
Turner RBCC Grey brindle girl I have admired from
the ringside before, I wasn’t disappointed, she has excellent construction.
Feminine head, dark eye of correct shape. Good topline and tail set on, good
forechest and front angulation, good bend of stifle and well let down hock.
Exuberant showgirl who misbehaves at times, nevertheless she is a quality
bitch. 3rd Percy’s Winetta I’ve
Got a Feeling Open Bitch – NO ENTRIES Veteran Bitch – 1 Entry Bowness’ Birselaw Folksong BVIB Dark red brindle bitch, 9 years old,
feminine head, neat ears, large teeth, harsh double coat, well muscled hind
quarters. Good forechest, topline ok, moving out well and attentive to her
