Dog Show Society Championship
Dog Show 29 July 2018 Cairn Terriers. I would like to thank The Windsor Dog Show Society
for inviting me to judge Cairn Terriers at their 2018 Show. I would also like
to thank those exhibitors, who braved the “Friday” traffic to come to Windsor
for their entries and for the opportunity of going over some very commendable
exhibits. Although the entry was modest, the quality was very good and their
attributes were generally good with very few exaggerations. I would also like
to thank my stewards for their due diligence in keeping me on track. Veteran
D/B. (2, 0 Abs). 1. Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Fable Of Macmoon
Sh. CM., a nine year old dark grey brindle dog in good fettle for his age. A
well balanced masculine dog with a level topline and moved OK. Dogs from this
exhibitor are always well schooled and give a good account of themselves. BV. 2. Morley’s Kedvaiy Locamotion, ten year old grey
brindle doing well for his age. Slightly shorter in height than 1 and in good
coat. Preferred the balance and movement of 1 today. Puppy D. (0). Junior D. (3, 0 Abs). 1. Firth’s Cairngold Chico. A lovely young red dog.
Good head and expression, balanced outline, level topline and correct
tailset, well sprung rib cage and good angulation. Moved with enthusiasm
round the ring. Liked him lots and he should do well in the future. 2. Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Come Dancing With
Macmoon. A well balanced dog slightly larger than 1. Nice to go over, a very pleasing example,
but preferred 1 on the move. 3. Keeves’ Seveek Treasure the Dream. Post
Graduate D. (4. 0 Abs). 1. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Silver Askin. A
grey brindle dog with a pleasing outline. Good head, level topline and
correct tailset. Has good angulation and moves well. However, he is quite a
handful and doesn’t always make the best of himself. 2. Reeves’ Cairngold Bubbly. A light coloured dog
with less substance than 1, but nevertheless a good example of the breed.
Some more maturity in time should improve his performance. 3. Hacker’s Teddeana Mister Jinks. Limit D. (4, 1 Abs). 1. Ball’s Lentrica Let’s Dance At Calamondin. A
light brindle with dark points, a pleasing head and balanced proportions in
body. Good rib cage, angulation in front and rear quarters, correct tailset.
Moved freely round the ring for his handler and deserved the RDCC. 2. Keeves’ Seveek I Spied That Dream. Another well
proportioned dog with many pleasing aspects. A slightly heavier example than
1. Very distracted by outside events which spoilt his concentration on the
move. 3. Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Dark Charmer For
Macmoon. Open D. (3, 0 Abs). 1, Waugh’s Tribuns Licorice Coin At tribannon (
Imp). A large Dark Dog, but beautifully balanced. A lovely head with
masculine expression. Good angulation and lovely neck into laid back
shoulders and level topline. Correct tailset and well muscled up, presenting
a pleasing outline. Full of himself and well handled to show free movement
with drive. DCC/BOB. 2. Kinton’s Ch. Woodthorpe I Know The Code. Heavier
in bone than 1, but stands well with a lovely head and expression and level
topline. A quality exhibit, but lost out to 1 on his movement today. 3. Peers’ Tweedisle Lively Lad. Good Citizen D/B. (3, 0Abs). 1. Lamb and Saltmarsh’s Renshaw There And Back Again
Under Macmoon Sh.CM. A dark grey dog who is well balanced and well angulated.
He has a good head, level topline and good shoulder placement. Moved well,
but a little close behind. 2. Morley’s Cannwood Here’s Hetty. Another dark grey
brindle bitch, well proportioned, who presents a pleasing outline. Good front
and level topline. Preferred the free movement of 1 today. 3. Morleys Kedvaiy Locamotion. Special
Beginners D/B. (1,0Abs). 1. Asmyhr’s Windline Born To Run Wild. A light
brindled bitch. A little shorter in leg than I like. No showgirl today and
did not move enthusiastically round the ring to give the best of herself. Puppy B. (4,1Abs). 1. Shopland’s Tycadno Penny Black For Cherrycrack.
An attractive 8 mth old dark red brindle. Very pleasing outline with good
front and rear quarters. Pretty, feminine head. Quite a handful at this
stage, but carries herself well on the move. Liked her a lot and hope she
fulfils her promise as she matures. BP. 2. Waugh’s Tribannon Balanchine, a 10 mth old light
brindle, whose conformation pleases in all quarters, but does not quite match
the quality of 1. She is quite a handful at this stage and so did not give a
good performance in movement. 3. Peers’ Tweedisle Remember Dee. Junior B. (2,0Abs). 1. Goldfinch’s Tycadno Bright Star For Kanawha. A
light brindle bitch with a balanced front and rear quarters, good angulation.
Moved well and kept her topline on the move. Should improve with maturity. 2. Thompson’s Glenrood Love In A Mist. A wheaten
with an attractive head and expression. Her outline looked a little heavy
today and not enthusiastic to be in the ring, due to the hot weather perhaps. Post
Graduate B. (3,0Abs). 1. Parker-Tucker’s Uniquecottage Fennel. Dark Grey
Brindle, well balanced, with excellent front and rear quarters. A very
pleasing head, with broad muzzle and good set of teeth. Level topline and
correct tail set giving a nice profile. Moved around the ring freely with
drive. Lots to like. RBCC. 2. Firth’s Cairngold Carolina. A red well balanced
girl, feminine head and good reach of neck. A well coupled front with good
fore chest and nice rib cage. A well presented exhibit who moved well around the ring maintaining her
profile. 3. Soper’s Elitecharm Five Of Diamonds. Limit B. (3,0Abs). 1. Dolans Gleenrood Spell Dance JW. A superb grey
brindle bitch which caught my eye as she entered the ring. Lovely feminine
head with wide muzzle and trim dark ears – looks a picture of a Cairn, nice
flow of neck with level topline, straight front with good shoulder placement.
Good rib cage and strong rear quarters. Everything correct and well balanced.
Showed and moved well confirming her quality. BCC. 2. Morley’s Cannwood Here’s Hetty. 3. Asmyhr’s Windline Born to Run Wild. Open B. (1,0Abs). 1. Keeves’ Ch. Seveek Hopes “N” Dreams JW. Sh CM.
Stood by herself and displayed a balanced outline. Head, body, front and rear
quarters all of high standard, confirming good conformation. Moved and showed
OK, although a little unsteady at times. Pressed hard for the reserve CC, a
close decision. Judge : Anthony Osborn. |
