Cairn Terriers – Judge Mr Chris Petts (Doonrae)

Just a few words firstly to say thank you to my 2 stewards who helped the ring run smoothly throughout my judging. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors who came under me so close to Christmas as I know this is a busy period in everyone’s lives. Thank you very much for bringing your lovely dogs & bitches for me to go over.

MPD (1)

1st Dennis’s Good Times Ahead. (BPD)

Lovely red brindle boy, in correct coat with nice length of neck flowing into good shoulder and level top line. He moved very well with confidence for one so young. Large teeth, correct bite. At just over 6 months old, still very much a baby, once he matures I feel sure he has a bright future.

JD (1)

1st Felters & Rumens Landbuck Kingsman (RDCC)

Red brindle boy, excels in head and expression, with large teeth, correct bite. In good coat of correct texture. Well balanced dog with good reach of neck flowing into shoulder, keeping his top line on the move. Moved effortlessly round the ring with great confidence, a very nice dog who should go on to do well in the ring.

PGD (2)

1st Saich’s Stoutheart Einstein for Lindcoly

Very showy grey brindle boy, good dentition, moved well for his owner and never stopped showing. Nice masculine head with keen expression. Good bone, correct coat texture.

2nd Bateman’s Carradine Whiskey Mac

Light red boy, nice head, correct stop, good ear placement. Shown in excellent coat, moved well but let his tail drop when standing which spoiled his outline.

LD (6) 2 absent

1st Millers Cornton Fyne Fettle.

Lovely Wheaten brindle with excellent stop, and good masculine head, large teeth, correct bite. Nice length of neck leading to correct shoulder, correct tail set. Moved very well in front and with drive from the rear. Nicely balanced dog with correct textured coat.

2nd Keeves Seveek Treasure the Dream

Light red boy, good head and expression on this dog, good ear placement, in profuse double coat. Difficult to assess his movement but moved ok once settled. Level top line, would prefer slightly more length of back for balance.

3rd Day’s Tribannon Chocolate Chip at Trekhilli

Res, Parker- Tuckers Tom Tricks Incredibly Ilay of Uniquecottage.

OD (5) 1 absent

1st Owen’s Caldwell Call To Order (DCC & BOB)

Grey Brindle, with stunning head and expression, good forechest, and correct bone, nice length of neck leading to good shoulders and level top line which he kept well on the move, nice supple loin and good tail set. Shown in good coat and condition. Responding well to his handler, moved well with plenty of drive. This dog never stopped showing and impressed all round.

2nd Firths Cairngold Chico JW

Lovely red boy, shown in excellent double coat, good proportions all round, correct level top line, large teeth and correct bite. Good stop, nice neat well placed ears. Moved well when he settled but owner struggled with ringside distractions. Preferred expression of my first placing. Considered for RDCC but thought my Junior winner just had the edge on the day.

3rd Day’s Trekhilli Pepperazzi

Res Saich’s Lindcoly Howling Mad Murdoch

Good Citizen Dog (1)

1st Day’s Tribannon Chocolate Chip at Trekhilli

Dark Red Brindle, excellent head, good stop and correct dentition,  in good double textured coat, presented in excellent condition as always by this owner, moved steadily with drive. Held a level top line on the move.

MPB (5) 1 absent

1st Dolan’s Glenrood Dance Till Dusk

Lovely wheaten bitch in good quality tight coat, excellent feminine head, good stop, neat ears. Correct teeth and typical Cairn expression. Good length of neck flowing to good shoulder, nice proportions to this bitch, held a lovely top line on the move, moving so well for such a youngster.

2nd Millers Cornton Fyne Hope

Wheaten brindle, another very feminine bitch with lovely head, neat ears and correct dentition. Correct double coat, very much a baby at just 6 months old, but lots of confidence. Moved well from the from the front and from the rear. A lovely class of promising bitch puppies.

3rd Bubb’s Hjohoo’s How Easy Hjo Please Me

Res, Saich’s Lindcoly Howling Dee Dee

PB (3) 1 Absent

1st Clarke’s Cairngold Chakira TAF (BPB & BPIB)

Wheaten bitch, nice head, good teeth and correct bite, good length of neck flowing into nice shoulders. Good bone, correct level top line, held on the move with good supple loin. Moved effortlessly with good drive for one so young. Excellent showmanship, presented nicely.

2nd Firth’s Cairngold Chiquitita

Red bitch, another beautiful example of the breed, with feminine head, neat ears, good length of neck flowing into shoulder, moved very well once I was able to assess her movement but she really played her owner up today. Her coat is excellent and she is developing nicely. Another one to watch for the future.

JB (3) 1 Absent

1st Bubb’s Lindcoly Strike a Pose

Wheaten bitch with dark points, dark eye, nice stop, correct dentition. Good length of neck and correct shoulder, Shown in good coat, moved well both ways, attentive but dropped her tail when standing.

2nd Saich’s Lindcoly Beans on Toast

Similar comments to 1st but took time to settle, which made it difficult to assess her movement. Lively girl, making her owner work hard to get the best from her.

PGB (11) 2 absent

1st Thomas’s Tycadno Truly Yours

Wheaten brindle girl, excellent type with lovely head and expression, dark points shown in excellent double coat. Good length of neck flowing into correct shoulder, with level top line kept on the move, good movement with strong drive, loved this bitch but disappointingly in the challenge she let her tail drop.

2nd Dolan’s Whispers at Dawn at Glenrood

Wheaten bitch, shown in excellent quality coat, with lovely head and expression. Excellent top line held well on the move, movement excellent both ways with good drive. Very close decision between these 2 bitches.

3rd Bateman’s Carradine Mon Mon Sherry

Res, Innet’s Carradine Winnie

VHC, Shopland’s Tycadno Penny Black for Cherryrack

LB (8) 1 absent

1st Catto’s Birselaw Viking Princess

Grey brindle bitch, quality bitch with good coat, nice head and expression, good ear placement, compact feet, good length of neck into correct shoulder, nicely balanced, with level top line and supple loin. Moved very well with good drive and never stopped showing for her owner.

2nd Saich’s Lindcoly Howling Whoopi

Light red, lovely feminine head, with large teeth and correct bite, shown in good quality double coat. Nicely balanced bitch who kept her top line well on the move. Moving with good drive, again never stopped showing for her owner.

3rd Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Fennel

Res, Bateman’s Carradine Fizz BombHC

OB (3)

1st Thomas’s Ch Tycadno Dancing Star (BCC)

Gorgeous head & expression on this bitch with good teeth and correct bite. Good fore chest, and nice length of neck flowing into good shoulder. Held a good top line on the move. Moved very well both ways with excellent drive, shown in full double coat,  this bitch never stopped showing and impressed all round.

2nd Innet’s Carradine Jo (RBCC)

Another quality bitch, with a gorgeous feminine head, dark points, neat ears, good dentition. Level top line, good tail set, well balanced bitch who moved with drive from the rear and moved out in front. A very close decision, and places could easily change places on another day.
