Cairn Terrier Association Breed Championship Show

Saturday 20 November 2021

I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging and thank the CTA for the invitation. Thanks also to my steward Sharon Confue who kept the day running smoothly and to the exhibitors for their entries, particularly during these challenging times.  I was delighted with my entry overall but noted a number who moved close at the rear and a few long in foreface which detracts from the true cairn expression.  Presentation on the whole was good, but coats were at varying stages.

Veteran Dog/Bitch (4.2)

1     Lamb & Saltmarsh’s Birselaw Dark Charmer For Macmoon Sh.CM.  7 year old grey brindle dog of nice size, pleasing head, good front, level topline correct tail set, in good coat and moved well.

2     Asmyhr Windlines’ Born To Run Wild.  Cream bitch 8 years old, in good coat, front movement not as sound as 1.

Minor Puppy Dog (2)

1     Shannon, Storr & Middlehurst’s Brenndarcy its Magic.  8 month old wheaten with a nice outline, good head and expression correct bite, level topline and good tailset, in good coat, moved and showed well. BPIS

2     Shopland’s Cherrycrack Horatio. Another nice puppy. Wheaten with a pleasing head and expression, nice length of neck, level topline, good coat, moved well, not as settled as 1.

Puppy Dog (0)

Junior Dog (2)

1             Thomas’ Tom Tricks Jocan Tycadno.  Presented a beautiful outline, masculine head, nice reach of neck into good shoulders, level topline with a good tailset, in a good coat, moved well both front and rear.

2             Munday’s Lentrica Mystic Warrior.  A well balanced red brindle with a nice head, level topline, well carried tail, moved well and in a good jacket.

Novice Dog (5,2)

1             Peers’ Tweedisle Charismatic Guy.  Wheaten with dark points, nice head, level topline, moved well in good coat, would like little more of him.

2             Leek’s Peregrine Plum.  Wheaten, nice size, level topline, very attentive to his handler.

3             Bingham’s Carradine Bumbling Boris

Post Graduate Dog (6,1)

1             Hughes’ Gyncairn Here Comes the Sun.  A well presented cream, nice in profile, lovely head and expression, good length of neck and clean shoulders, level topline with a good tailset, moved well.

2             Byrnes’ Carradine Howzat Howard.  Lovely head and his dark mask enhanced his expression, nice outline, good topline good tailset, moved well.

3             Keeves’ Seveek Carry on the Dream

Limit Dog (6,1)

1             Weinberger’s Cruzo Chorister with Correnie.  Nice head, neck and shoulders, level topline, good tailset, moved well.
