Ladies Kennel
Association - December 2022 - Cairn Terriers - Judge Phillip Horspool Firstly I would like to thank the Exhibitors for their
entry, it is some what 5 years since I last judge the breed, I thought that
the Limit and Open classes of both sexes contained some outstanding quality
and it was a pleasure to judge them. Puppy Dog (5 Entries) Abs: 4 1st: BALLINGER'S Cloverbrook Game Set N Match, a silver
brindle of just 6mths, great pity he was alone, however he is pleasing in
make & shape, typical head & expression, good bone, correct harsh
coat, moved & showed well once settled, an interesting prospect. Junior Dog (3 Entries) 1st: PETTS Doonrae Sentinel, a well balanced red brindle
dog, he has a good head & expression, fair reach of neck & well laid
shoulders, liked his well made body & shapely quarters, moved freely
& with purpose, well presented & showed well, he is still a youngster
& given a few more months of maturity I'm sure he will certainly trouble
the best. 2nd: HIAM'S Carradine Arfa Pint JW, a classy red with dark
points, of a smaller frame, has masculine head with good stop, pleasing in
make & shape, moved with drive, preferred front movement of 1st, good
showman & was well handled. 3rd: JONES & ARNOLD'S Tycadno Tom Foolery Post Grad Dog (3 Entries) 1st: WAUGH'S Glenrood Galaxy at Tribannon, a quality dark brindle
dog full of vitality, very masculine in outline, liked his keen expression
with neat ears & the desired stop, good reach of neck, pleasing in body,
correct harsh coat, free easy mover with good stride, another given time to
mature, should do very well. 2nd: LUCAS Seveek Country Lad, a harsh coated silver
brindle, his head is typical, nice neck & shoulders, level topline &
correct tailset, not the movement or showmanship of the winner. 3rd: BINGHAM'S Carradine Bumbling Boris Limit Dog (6 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: SHANNON / STORR & MIDDLEHURST'S Brenndarcy It's
Magic (ai), a typical wheaten, standing well on forepaws, scores in head
& expression, level topline, good overall make & shape, moved freely
& showed well, I liked this dog very much, just felt his coat was between
stages compared to those placed above him in the challange, however he was a
contender for the RCC, one that can never be over looked. 2nd:MUNDAY'S Lentrica Mystic Warrior, a dark brindle one
that was in good condition with correct harsh coat, nicely proportioned
outline, well formed head with dark eye & well placed ears, a truly
honest exhibit that moved well both ways, a close decision, just prefered the
forechest of 1st. 3rd: BYRNE'S Carradine Howzat Howard Open Dog (3 Entries) 1st: FIRTH'S Ch Cairngold Chico JW, a well known mature
red, loved his size & stance, obviously seen him before & sometimes
from the ringside I thought he appeared a little short of neck, however after
handling him & watch him show to advantage, this is not the case, his
head is masculine with a good expression, excellent depth of body with well
sprung ribs, his quarters are strong with a correct tail set, moves really
well, he was shown in good form with correct double coat, won the CC over
some strong opposition, in the challenge for Best of Breed, I thought the
bitch put a touch more effort into her showmanship. 2nd:INETT & HARRISON'S Ch Carradine In 'N' Out Mr
Sprout, a well made dark brindle dog of quality, first class presentation
& performance, a lovely dog to go over, great outline, moved freely,
RDCC, these 3 exhbits could easliy change places on personal preference, the
3rd has many fine attributes & a champion in his own right. 3rd: DENNIS / GODDARD & WAITES Ch Good Times Ahead with
Oudenarde Veteran Dog / Bitch (2 Entries) 1st: LAMB & SALTMARSH's Birselaw Dark Charmer For
Macmoon Sh.CM VW, a dark brindle 8 year old, pleasing outline with typical
head & expression, good confirmation, moved well. 2nd:PAIGE'S Glenrood Trojan Prince, another dark brindle of
9 years, slightly heavier in build than the winner, shown in full harsh coat,
moved with drive. Puppy Bitch (8 Entries) Abs: 5 1st: BALLINGER'S Cloverbrook Forget Me Not, a silver
brindle, litter sister to the puppy dog, & the same comments apply, full
of confidance, moved & showed well for one so young. Best Puppy. 2nd:DENNIS & WAITES Svendalens Snow Drop, a nice sized
wheaten one, typical in outline, level topline & correct tailset,
prefered winners head & expression, moderate bone, moved ok in profile. 3rd: SAICH'S Lindcoly Here Comes Oh Shi (NAF) Junior Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: FELTERS & RUMENS Birselaw Caol Ila At Landbuck, a
real eyecatcher, feminine head with a keen expression, she is shapely in
outline, well set & carried tail, her red brindle coat was harsh, moved
true, given time, one surely destined for the upper house. 2nd:DOLAN'S Glenrood Midnight Spell, a dark brindle, a
nicely proportioned outline, good in make & shape, moved freely &
showed well. 3rd: FIRTH'S Birselaw Cora at Cairngold Post Graduate Bitch (2 Entries) 1st: TESTER'S Airytykes Excuse Me 2nd: METCALF-SAULT'S Cannwood Can't Get Enough, I thought these 2 were of similar in make & shape, both
typical in outline, both moved with drive, the winner had the better front
& coat hence the placing. Limit Bitch (6 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: INETT & HARRISON'S Carradine Wilma, very classy
brindle with outstanding qualities, excellent coat & condition, beautiful
head, appealed for outline & proportions, good medium bone, moved with
purpose & put on a good performance.
2nd:DOLAN'S Glenrood Dance Til Dusk, a good type of silver
brindle with lots to like, nice head & correct expression, pleasing in
make & shape, moved & showed very well, not disgraced standing 2nd in
this class. 3rd: SOPER'S Elitecharm Showgirl Open Bitch (9 Entries) Abs: 2 1st: FELTERS & RUMENS Ch Landbuck La Voix, a pleasure
to judge this shapely silver brindle, she oozes quality & breed type,
loved her head with well placed ears, good stop & strengh of muzzle,
quite a naughty wicked expression, fair reach of neck, good spring of rib
& level topline, well made quarters which she uses on the move, in great
form, I thought her most impressive & of ideal size & balance,
pleased to award her the CC & Best of Breed. 2nd: FIRTH'S Ch Cairngold Chiquitita, a beautiful balanced
red bitch, perfect harsh double coat, again lovely head & expression,
sound mover & assertive show girl, overcame some strong opposition in
this class & the winners of Junior & Limit. RBCC. 3rd: WAUGH'S Ch Glory Daze at Tribannon Phillip Horpool |
