Three Counties - 9th June Thank you to all of the exhibitors
who entered under me and gave me the privilege to go over and judge their
dogs - it really was a true honour and it was a delight to have such a
fantastic entry. Thank you too to my super organised and professional steward
Gerry. On the day sadly the ring surface of
the original ring was not acceptable and I personally felt that I would not
get the most out of the dogs if we had continued outdoors. I would
like to apologise for the last minute change which resulted in us being
undercover and using the wet weather ring. Sadly the weather (being hot) and
the tannoy announcements understandably unsettled
some of the dogs. In general the exhibits were in good
condition and presented well. I did find some exhibits with eyes which were
too round for my liking which takes away from the cairn expression, we also
need to be mindful on the size of our cairns, there
were a wide range of sizes being exhibited on the day. I am pleased with my final line up
in the challenges - and ultimately my BOB and RBOB. I would like to
remind exhibitors that if you are in the final line up you are there for a
reason and do not give up on your dog. The result on the day could have been
different if
exhibitors had continued to show their dogs to their full
potential. Minor Puppy Dog (2,0) 1.Robert’s
Cannwood Moonlight Shadow Won the class on showmanship today. Slightly
smaller size to No2. Good head with correct ear set, which were used to
advantage, dark eye, good bite with large teeth. On the move pulled himself up to show off movement. 2.McIntyre’s
Macantsaoir Celtic Warrior Grey Brindle, not as
showy as No1 on the day. Up to size for age.
Masculine head with strong expression, correct dentition. Moved well showing
clear outline. Puppy Dog (0) Junior Dog (4, 3a) 1. Jones & Arnold’s Tycadno Tom Foolery. A lovely exhibit of a cairn, really
disappointed on the day as he didn’t bring his cairn attitude to the ring,
it’s evident he has a strong connection with his handler. He has a true cairn
head with an endearing expression accentuated by a dark eye, lovely large
teeth. Flowing neck onto well set
shoulders. Moved well. I look forward to watching this boys show career Novice Dog (3,2a) 1. Parker-Tuckers Grey Shiso Dark Brindle presented well in good coat. An
appealing head with neat ears and correct bite. Good reach of neck. Alert and when got himself together moved
well – holding his topline. Post Graduate Dog (3,0a) A class of teenagers… 1.Waugh’s
Glenrood Galaxy At Tribannon. A true male full of testosterone! Definitely on
his toes today which played to his advantage as he stood
and showed a clean balanced outline.
He made his handler work in the ring! Dark Brindle in good coat.
Masculine expression as a result of his strong skull and correct stop. Clean reach of neck flowing onto well set
shoulders. Moved with drive. He has a positive ring career ahead of him.RDCC 2. Lucas & Tobutt’s
Seveek Country Lad Grey Brindle smaller in size to No1. Shown in good coat.
Correct dentition. The handler needs to find their pace when on the move to
show movement to it’s full
potential. Limit Dog (3,0a) 1.Parker
Tucker’s Uniquecottage Grey Borage. Cream masculine
dog, shown in excellent harsh coat and presented to accentuate his outline.
Cairn head with dark eye of correct shape, large clean teeth. Clean flow from neck to shoulder. Well muscled. Moved well – would have liked a little more
‘oomph’ from him on the day. Held topline and carried tail well on the
move. 2.Hiam’s
Carradine Arfa Pint JW. Slightly smaller set to
No1. Appealing red brindle who caught your eye when
in the ring. Presented well and has a true connection with handler. Lovely head and expression. Held topline,
moved with drive. Open Dog (4,1a) 1.Firth’s
CH Cairngold Chico JW A clean red shown in excellent coat. He had a lovely head and expression and was
alert and aware of all around him, using his ears fully. It was a pleasure to
go over him and feel what was under the coat.
A defined outline (not shown fully in the pictures) with well set shoulders, and good muscle, I would have
confidence he could do the job of a Cairn. Moved well and commanded the ring.
DCC 2.Shannon,
Storr & Middlehurst Brenndarcy It’s Magic (AI) Cream with dark points,
with an appealing head. Nice dark eyes of correct shape. Good spring of rib,
with nice flow when going over on the table. Moved well – with a level
topline and held tail on the move. Veteran Dog (1,0a) 1.Kinton’s
CH Woodthorpe I Know The Code. A 9 year old who
could teach some of the youngsters a few things. Dark Brindle in excellent
coat, with a typical cairn head as a result of lovely dark eyes, correct stop
and neat ears. Good forechest and well muscled. Moved well. BV Minor Puppy Bitch (3,1a) 1.Innett
& Harrison’s Carradine Picadd Lilly a well balanced, up to size 7 month old. Very pretty head
with the first thing that draws your eye being her wonderful mascara which
accentuates her correct eye shape and colour.
A showy happy puppy who oozed confidence in the ring. Correct
bite, level topline, moved well. 2.Shannon
& Storr’s Brenndarcy Witches Promise Red Brindle, shown in slightly less coat than No1. Another showy puppy bitch who enjoyed her day.
Lovely big teeth with correct bite. Of correct size and shape for age.
Clean outline and moved with intent. Puppy Bitch (4,1a) 1.Parker
Tucker’s Birselaw Floral Dancer of Uniquecottage
Feminine cream, up to size for age. Shown in good coat of harsh texture.
Currently immature and will fill out in body in time. Lovely strong bite due to large teeth. When
set her mind to it showed well and moved with drive showing off her outline. 2.Saich’s
Lindcoly Picture Perfect Wheaten with dark points, in full coat. Balanced and
of correct size. Another feminine puppy with a lovely head who loved her day
in the ring which showed when she was on the move. Junior Bitch (7,3a) 1.Osborn’s
be Gin Again at Tweslam Took my eye in the ring as
she stood showing off her outline and had cairn confidence. Wheaten Brindle
who is balanced with a good flow of neck, well set shoulders and of correct
size. Typical head with good stop and forechest.
Moved well. 2.Parker
Tucker’s Sandrio Zinnia of Uniquecottage
Grey Brindle, with a pretty expression. Slightly spooked by the tannoy, but when settled moved well. Large clean teeth. Topline held when on the
move. Well muscled. Novice Bitch (4,2a) 1.Parker
Tucker’s Uniquecottage Red Chervil Red Brindle well
boned. Harsh coat, balanced with an endearing expression. On the table showed
a good outline and when hands on had a good reach of neck and well set
shoulders. Seemed distracted by something
outside of the ring – however when settled I was able to assess her movement.
2.Ballinger’s
Cloverbrook Forget Me Not Grey Brindle, coat not at it’s
best on the day. Pretty Bitch with feminine expression, good stop. Moved ok. Post Graduate Bitch (9,2a) 1.Firth’s
Birselaw Cora at Cairngold Dark Brindle who was well presented and of good
shape and size. Typical cairn head with attentive expression,
used her ears. Good depth of chest and level topline and good tailset. Moved freely. 2. Osborn’s Tweslam
Be Gin The Magic Red balanced bitch with lovely head and expression. Large
clean teeth, nice dark eye. Good spring of rib. Well
muscled, when on the move held topline and tailset. Limit Bitch (8,1a) 1.Felters

command of it and owned it. A feminine
pretty bitch with a lovely head and expression. Of correct size and
bone. A good reach of next which flows
onto well set shoulders. She presents a balanced outline and moved with drive
and intent. It was an honour to award her BCC and BOB. She represented our
breed exceptionally well in the terrier group. 2. Thompson’s Castleline Maitree cream bitch, with a good front, nice spring of rib and shown in
