A very British Cairn Celebratory Cake |
Cheers! (With thanks to Our Dogs) |
CAIRN TERRIER I would like to thank the Committee of Birmingham Dog Show for their
hospitality and the exhibitors for their entries on the day of King Charles
III's Coronation. I found there was variation in the size and quality of the Cairns. There
were some exhibits with heavy shoulders and wide fronts, which reflected in
their movement, and some were shown in very short coat. Overall I was very
pleased with my main winners. Special Beginners Dog (0,0) Minor Puppy Dog (3,2) 1. McIntyre's Macantsaoir Celtic Warrior, 6 month grey brindle. He was
very confident for his age and well up to size, strong head, dark eye, good
stop and a correct scissor bite. Good length of leg and a straight front.
Well boned strong feet. Showed well and moved with drive. Puppy Dog (2,2) Junior Dog (3,0) 1. Clarke's Furythor Mr Bojangles By Lentrica, grey brindle shown in
lovely coat. He has a good dark eye with correct expression. Medium length of
neck flowing into a level topline and a good tailset. Well balanced for his
size. Great showman. Moved okay. 2. Jones & Arnold's Tycadno Tom Foolery, wheaten shown in a full
coat of correct texture, strong head, with a broad jaw, clean shoulders and
well padded tight feet. Moved around the ring with drive and great ease. Just
preferred length of back of 1. 3. Parker-Tucker's Uniquecottage Grey Shiso. Yearling Dog (1,0) 1. Hiam's Carradine Arfa Pint JW, red brindle with a strong head, good
eye colour, good expression and broad jaw with large teeth. Correct layback
of shoulders, straight front, well boned, excellent strong topline. Well
angulated rear quarters, shown in excellent coat and condition. Easy free
movement. Showed well. Post Graduate Dog (1,0) 1. Lucas' Seveek Country Lad, wheaten brindle with dark points. Good
dark eye, strong feet, and level topline. Moved around the ring well. Showed
well. Limit Dog (3,0) 1. Pett's Doonrae Sentinel, dark red brindle with a good outline. He has
a good head with correct proportions giving him a lovely expression. Correct
mouth and a dark eye. Straight front and strong feet, medium length of neck
flowing into a dead level topline. He moved well around the ring. I was
pleased to award him Res Dog C.C. 2. Parker-Tucker's Uniquecottage Grey Borage, wheaten, smaller and a
different type to 1, shown in a profuse full coat of good texture. He excels
in head of correct proportions, with a deep stop, wide jaw and a dark eye.
Level topline and good tailset. Just preferred the balance of 1. 3. Munday's Lentrica Mystic Warrior. Open Dog (3,1) 1. Firth's Ch Cairngold Chico JW, a true red with a lovely head and
expression. A lot has been said about this dog and I found him a pleasure to
judge. Head of correct proportions, with a good stop and correct colour of
eye for a red dog. Straight front with strong feet and good shoulders,
excellent tailset. Good movement. A great showman and a pleasure to award him
the Dog C.C. 2. Shannon, Storr & Middlehurst's Brendarcy It's Magic (AI), a
smaller framed wheaten dog than 1. Well put together. Good head and
expression, level topline and a good tailset. A great showman. Unlucky to
meet 1. Veteran Dog (2,0) 1. Kinton's Ch Woodthorpe I Know The Code, a 9 year old very dark
brindle. Where does all the time go? I judged him as a youngster and he
certainly has matured well. He has a strong head and a wide jaw. Good dark
eye. Good length of neck flowing into a level topline. Tail well set on.
Showed well. Best Veteran. 2. Lamb & Saltmarsh's Birselaw Dark Charmer For Macmoon ShCh,
another very dark brindle. He has a smaller frame than 1, with a good head,
dark eye and straight front. Nicely balanced. Just changing his coat. Moved
and showed really well. Special Beginners Bitch (1,0) 1. Metcalf-Sault's Cannwood Quiet Reflections, grey brindle with a good
stop, dark eye and correct scissor bite. New coarse coat just coming in. She
was difficult to assess due to being unsure in the hall. Best Special
Beginner. Minor Puppy Bitch (3,1) 1. Shannon & Storr's Brendarcy Witches Promise, a 6 month old red
brindle puppy who walked into the ring with such presence and confidence.
What an extrovert! She has a very pretty head with correct proportions. Well
placed small ears, good stop, mouth and eye colour. Straight front, good
length of neck and level topline. She moved around the ring like she owned
it. Showed really well. Should have a good future. Best Puppy. 2. Saich's Lindcoly Picture Perfect, wheaten of a smaller frame than 1
and lower on leg. Good head and expression, correct dentition. Moved okay
around the ring. Puppy Bitch (7,0) 1. Ballinger's Cloverbrook Forget Me Not, grey brindle in good coat,
pretty feminine head, good length of neck, clean shoulders and level topline.
Moved well. Would prefer a little more leg to complete the picture. 2. Saich's Lindcoly Walking In Memphis, wheaten brindle, pretty head,
good expression, correct bite, straight front. Moved well. 3. Parker-Tucker's Birselaw Floral Dancer Of Uniquecottage. Junior Bitch (5,0) 1. Osborn's Be Gin Again At Tweslam, wheaten brindle shown in short coat
of correct texture. Very pretty head, straight front, strong paws, good
length of neck, level topline and correct tailset. Gave her handler a hard
time but moved well when settled. Just needs time. 2. Bubb's Wandris Please Yourself JW, dark grey brindle of a smaller
frame and a different type to 1. Well balanced with a good outline and very
similar points to 1. Moved and showed well. Unlucky to meet 1, could change
places another time. 3. Parker-Tucker's Sandro Zinnia Of Uniquecottage. Yearling Bitch (4,0) 1. Felters and Rumens' Birselaw Caol Ila At Landbuck JW, a well balanced
red brindle with a head of correct proportions. Strong feet, level topline
and good tailset. Moved and showed well. Res B.C.C. 2. Saich's, Lindcoly Maleficent Mo, a showy wheaten brindle, with a good
mouth and dark eye. Moved and showed okay. A good outline when standing. 3. Metcalf-Sault's Cannwood Can't Get Enough. Post Graduate Bitch (6,0) 1. Osborn's Tweslam Be Gin The Magic (AI), a red with a good outline, a
very pretty head and good expression. Level topline and good tailset. Shown
in a good textured coat, although short. Showed well for handler. Considered
for the Res B.C.C. 2. Firth's Birselaw Cora At Cairngold, a smaller bitch than 1, but has a
good outline. Head of correct proportions with correct scissor bite, straight
front. Good layback of shoulders and a strong topline. Moved well, but sadly
spooked by something in the hall and gave up showing at the end. 3. Saich's Lindcoly Witches Brew. Limit Bitch (5,1) 1. Thompson's Castleline Maitree, a well balanced pretty wheaten with
strong muzzle, dark eye and correct length of foreface. She has a straight
front, with a level topline and a good tailset, and went around the ring with
plenty of drive. Won this class on her movement. Showed really well. Just
needs a little less coat to complete the picture. 2. Tester's Airytykes Excuse Me, a 6 yr old red who was well balanced,
good neck and shoulders. Moved and showed well. 3. Metcalf-Sault's Cannwood Can't Get Enough. Open Bitch (6,1) 1. Firth's Ch Cairngold Chiquitita, I have seen this bitch from the
ringside and today I had the pleasure of going over her. A beautiful red with
a dark eye and a well proportioned head. A straight front, good length of
neck flowing into clean shoulders and good tailset. She moved around the ring
with drive and showed well. In excellent coat. Lovely bitch and a well
deserved Champion. Bitch C.C. and Best of Breed. 2. Kinton's Ch Cloverbrook Unbreakable At Woodthorpe, another Champion
but not the same balance as 1. Strong head, level topline and good outline.
Coat of correct texture. Great show girl. Moved well. 3. Inett, Harrison & Bateman's Carradine Precious Pumpkin Pie. Veteran Bitch (3,1) 1. Smith's Cannwood Misty Dawn At Gethlee, a 7 year old wheaten, nice
head, level topline good outline. Moved well. 2. Keeves' Ch Seveek Hopes 'N' Dreams JW ShCh, a brindle with good mouth
and dark eye. Showed well but today was not as confident as 1. Judge Mrs S E Dolan |
