Cairn Terrier Association 18th November 2023

Firstly I would like to thank the Committee of the CTA for inviting me to judge it’s Championship show, also for their hospitality and generous gifts. My thanks also go to my excellent steward Sharon Confue who, on her own, managed to organise the exhibitors ensuring the show ran smoothly, as well as supporting me, making the day stress free and enjoyable.

I had a good entry and thank my exhibitors for entering under me. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the Cairns, no obvious major faults, my only gripe with our breed at the moment is size, there are quite a few up to size exhibits in the ring at the moment, if we are not careful with our breeding this could lead to coarseness. I had some difficult decisions and was pleased with my final line up.

VD/B 7,1A

1.    Kinton’s Ch Woodthorpe I Know The Code  9 Yr old dark brindle male, loved this dog as a youngster, still maintaining his true Cairn make and shape, expressive head, kept in excellent body and coat condition, still a good showman. Well deserved BVIS

2.    Smith’s Cannwood Misty Dawn At Gethlee  7yr old alert cream bitch with dark points who moved and showed well, also in good coat and condition, very attentive to handler.

3.    Dolan’s Ch Glenrood Scheherezade

MPD 1,0a

1.    Sinclair’s Tycadno Quick Shot 6 months bright and alert wheaten young lad. Good to go over, lovely mouth with correct eye and tailset. Well presented and hopefully will settle and enjoy his and his handlers new breed showring career.
